"I graduated from Point Park University's English & Creative Writing program. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the professors of that department. They are passionate and insightful and want only the best for their students. You could go to any one of them without an appointment and they are more than happy to offer advice and guidance. That being said, the program itself is very much in need of development and expansion. The program is geared toward being a writer, which is understandable because it's a CW program. However, there is no focus on the professional life of a writer in terms of how to get published, finding an agent, pitching a book/story, or even doing taxes for people who so often find themselves working as freelance writers or on other types of contracted projects. Likewise, as someone who is interested in pursuing publishing, that industry wasn't even posed as a viable/practical option. The advice from many professors and direction of the program was pretty much to write, learn to teach writing, and never go to grad school because it's too expensive. While I loved my professors and thought that the classes were incredibly enriching, I don't feel that I left the program prepared or informed in any way and, in the four years that I attended, I was only ever made aware of one internship opportunity."

"I truly enjoyed my experience at Point Park University. I was a double major in dance and psychology. Both the dance department and psychology department were extremely flexible and helped me to achieve both degrees in four years. My advisers in both departments were always available to speak with me. My psychology adviser still helps me with advice in terms of applying to graduate school. The dance program was rigorous and fully prepared me for the professional dance world. The psychology department was excellent and I received a lot of individual attention due to the small class sizes. I feel the professors truly care about their students at Point Park."

"I found it valuable and enriching to complete my MBA. It also was helpful that the courses could be completed on Saturdays so that I could still work full-time during the week."

"Accelerated program allowed for great opportunity to complete work faster, but it transitions quickly. Great professors. I would recommend that testing requirements come back. Some students should not have been in my program. They were ill-suited for the workload."

"The small class sizes and accessibility to supplementary learning resources greatly improved my experience at Point Park University. There is always a way to gain additional help when needed. I am pleased with the course offerings in the MBA program, as well as the inclusion of the Management Information Systems concentration."

"Attending a school for psychology that is largely known for dancers was a bit daunting. It made me worry about the quality of education I would receive in a different program. I'm pleased to report that despite it being a school better known for dance and theater, Point Park had an excellent psychology program. It focuses on the humanistic approach rather than research. I really appreciated this aspect because most schools have a stronger focus on research. It taught me a lot about putting the emphasize on the individual rather than as a subject. You finish the program when you complete a thesis based on the experience of something. It's very interesting, and I would recommend Point Park's psych program to any undergrad student."

"The graduate school of Leadership & Administration helps you to morph into the leader that you know you are. The classes, the instructors & your colleagues all help and empower you to step outside yourself in the classroom and at work. The work is challenging but it has a purpose and you definitely learn a lot about yourself and your cohorts."

"I actually went in as a transfer student. The administration at my previous institution couldn't hold a candle to Point Park. They made sure I understood everything. I'm not sure how the on-campus life was because I was a commuter (there were a lot of us). What I enjoyed most were the professors. Not only did they have the professional experience, they were beyond helpful after I graduated. One semester, a professor helped me get an internship at a radio station here. Another professor helped me get a job in my field 6 weeks after I graduated. I'm planning to go back there for my masters next fall."

"Point Park University I feel is an amazing school, I not only received my undergraduate degree from Point Park, but obtained my MBA there as well. There programs really cater to the working adult. The class sizes are small, small enough that the professors know you by name and are able to give you personalized attention. A lot people worry about being just another number when it comes to being in school/classes at Point Park this is not the case you have sense of belonging that makes you want to go to class and get to know others in your class and learn from them as well as network. Being that the graduate program is so flexible and again does cater to the working adult you do have the opportunity to meet people from all over Pittsburgh. I've also been given many amazing opportunities in my career due to my academic affiliation with Point Park University being that it is a well known and accreditated University that is growing in Downtown Pittsburgh. I recommend this University to anyone who is looking for that personalized academic experience and does not want to become just another number."

"My university offered a large Conservatory of performing arts program. My experience was decent, but was based much on my own personal pursuits in theater outside of the school. The large number of students limited the attention that could be paid to us as individual students. I regret the lack of general education I received, and due to the state of the economy, on my graduation I was not qualified for many positions that I certainly had the experience to perform"

"The Educational Doctorate Program at Point Park is a realistic program for the working person. Most importantly it is not so much theory, but more hands-on and real world knowledge. The books and readings have been appropriate and meaningful to our learning and growth. The Learning Facilitators are easily accessible and knowledgeable. As far as transportation, I drive to class so it does not effect me as much. Also, even though this program is affordable, I always believe that education should always be as inexpensive as possible. I highly recommend this program to any interested candidates."

"The university makes it accessible for full-time working professionals to take night classes and further their education. All of my teachers have responded to emails within 24 hours and provide students with their numbers to reach them whenever. The workload can be a bit much at times, but there is also some group work allowing students to learn and work together to present a bigger project. They also offer different tracks for courses so some students may take classes every other week and at an accelerated pace, all depending on what the student is comfortable with. The cons are that it can be a bit much when working and then going to night classes, but Point Park has allowed me the chance and I will be able to finish in a little over a year."

"The MET program at Point Park (it was Point Park College when I attended) I found to be more hands on than programs at other universities. The education I received was very adaptable to working in industry and my career was greatly enhanced from what I learned there. Today, it is even better. The modern program curricula has kept up with the industry and the students who graduate from Point Park now are even better than when I graduated. A person graduating from the MET program today can fit right in with the consulting engineering firms and will look forward to a bright career with those types of firms."

"The pros of my graduate program are the different resources available to the students. The gaps in care that are bridged and our education not only happens in the classroom, but pours out ino the streets of the city. It is the perfect balance of thesis and hands on community psychology."
