Purdue Global

The instructors, content, and Professional Studies degree option made the learning worthwhile. However, it is difficult to sell the Professional Studies major to employers who do not understand what the degree entails, making it difficult to get hired. It isn't easy to get hired at the school or elsewhere due to the competitive nature of the workforce. I just need employers to know I'm employable and that my skill set under this degree is just as great as anyone else's, especially in the executive administrative support career.

This school is one of the absolute worst universities I have even been to. Their entire finance team should be fired. If you attend this school, especially if you are military and using your TA or 9/11 bill, you need to be on top of your finances weekly. This school has gone against my wishes and made me waist hours upon hours on the phone with their finance team because they opened a loan under my name without my consent and without notifying me, used that loan money instead of my tuition assistance... Read More when the TA should have been used, actively refused to let me draw from both TA and 9/11 because they didn't know how to do their job, and much more. All of this while they freeze your access to your classes if they don't get their money, but yet will take up to 2 months to resolve an issue I call about 3 times a week for. If you want an online education, pick someplace else, or accept that they are going to do their best to make you take out a loan against your will.

As a full-time employee, this school provided the flexibility and autonomy for me to succeed. When I first enrolled I had been out of school for 13 years after received my Associates in Animal Science. My previous experience in school was traditional with on-campus classes, multiple books per course, and reliance on scantron tests. It was a shock to my system to have everything online and it scared me at first. After the 2nd week of attending, I realized how much better this format fit with my lifestyle... Academic Writer was the resource I used the most as it formatted all of my papers easily, catalogued all of my references, and was a central location for all of the papers written throughout my degree. I wholeheartedly recommend Purdue Global for those that want to pursue a degree. Take the leap of faith and apply now. You will not regret it.

Overall my experience has been enjoyable throughout my four years of attending Purdue Global. I enjoy the virtual environment and the classes that are offered. However, I do think the class courses could be improved upon through additional courses. This would greatly help students better prepare for future job opportunities and other classes that incorporate or build upon certain concepts. For example, a dedicated class for students to learn and understand GitHub content would greatly benefit many... Read More tech students. This is a concept that many students will work with in later classes and internships. Since this was not a class that was offered many students either struggled using this platform or refused to do so due to lack of knowledge. I also think more group projects would benefit students similar to the Agile scrum class offered because it would allow students to gain the skills needed to work in teams, improve soft skills, and technical skills. I can honestly say that I have learned a lot from other students while participating in the Purdue internship and Agile class since we worked on projects together. Some students may have more skills than others and they can give them insight to new information. I do not think that one's grade should rely on other students. For example, I have worked very hard to maintain a very high GPA and I am proud of my accomplishments but, I was put in a group with students who did not pull their weight and had myself and another student failed to step up and work on the their portions of the project I would have lost my GPA. I think grades need to remain individual and separate from the group except for the peer reviews. Many students work very hard to put themselves through college and work, their accomplishments should not be affected by other students especially if they are continuing to perform at a high level. I think the classes are great and the degree gave me a well rounded feel for the tech field. I do think it is important for professors to stress to students the importance of practicing what you learn outside of the classroom. I think many students are under the impression that college will give them everything they need including myself early on in my Associate's degree. That is not the case I learned it is important to continue practicing what you learn to enhance the skills foundation that has already been set forth. If my professors expressed this earlier on I would have taken that into account and started practicing a lot sooner. I do however, feel great and confident where I stand now after working with other students and attending the internship program. I am grateful for this opportunity and I hope other students enjoy the program!

I received my 4 year degree completely online and yet I am having the worst possible time attending a certificate program. Every time I reach out to my advisor I feel like I'm emailing the wall. I sent an email about my concerns over my grades and I am still waiting for a reply. If I had known what this school was like I wouldn't have ever enrolled. As far as self paced it is ok and the work load is not too hard but the school has crazy unrealistic expectations for their students. I would say that... Read More with a young toddler in my house and no help I am getting pretty average PASSING grades, yet somehow after every single term, I keep getting kicked out of the school. I am going to get kicked out of the school again because I am not getting A's but I'm not getting D's either. I am a single parent with no help and I am also an average student right now, but nothing I can do. I reached out to my advisor a couple of weeks ago about my concerns about my grades and possibly getting dismissed from the school again and no answer. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your money, it's such a headache. I could have gone to my local community college to pursue this program, but this was totally online which suited my schedule best. I am out over $1,000 I paid to the school and I'm even deeper into my student loans, so that's great. Please don't waste your time or money. Check your local community colleges or with a different online program. Purdue doesn't seem to understand that some of us are single parents who must work full-time.

Purdue Global is often scrutinized for having for profit origins. Many of the pundits investigate and report on the business relationship aspect leaving out the details that matter. Purdue University governs and controls Purdue Global. The polices that control the main campus control the online campus. And while I will concede that - as with any merger or acquisition - Kaplan's online infrastructure is still present as anyone would expect just 5 or 6 years after a new owner takes over, none of this... If I had to make any recommendation, I would recommend that Purdue as a University system use the same degree design across all of its campuses. Purdue should be one brand, but many campuses. That will ultimately fall to a different generation of leadership to decide. Again, none of that changes the fact that PG is a great school.

This has been a great school. I really enjoyed most of the instructors and the entirely online format, which meshed well with working full time. My one thing to note with the online format is that there are weekly seminars that you must attend or watch and submit a sort of review of. I really recommend this school if you're a self-starter and are good at working on your own, because the advisors weren't the best. Horrible. Greedy staff that doesn’t send out notice of “policy updates”. Careless student advisors who only help when it’s convenient for them. Don’t answer questions or enroll you in classes with enough notice to adjust schedules then you’re penalized. They’ll happily harass you with hundreds of useless spam emails though while you wait for a response to your questions or concerns. Lied to me on multiple occasions, discriminated against me on multiple occasions. Now I’m the one in trouble because... Read More their student advisor failed to inform me of a brand new policy that was updated in August, that they never sent out ANY information on so I was just expected to know on top of dealing with a death in my family on top of multiple other things. If you want to lose money and not see anything in return, be treated like you’re beneath everyone there, be discriminated against and be lied to time after time, etc this is the school for you.

Successfully completing an MBA at Purdue Global was a great experience. The information was exemplary, and the flexibility of the Excel Track program allowed me to complete the degree program around my work and life schedule. The instructors were knowledgeable and helpful with information throughout the course, and the remote administration kept my progress running smoothly. The B.S. in Cybersecurity - Excel Track degree program online from Purdue Global is an excellent choice for students who are fast learners and work at their own pace. I recently graduated from Purdue University Global, and overall I am extremely satisfied with my experience. As a disabled student, I struggled to find a university or college teaching cybersecurity that could accommodate my disabilities. Purdue Global's Excel Track is a self-paced degree program where students engage in hands-on labs,... Read More write essays, and take evaluation tests. The terms are ten weeks, and students can complete as many 1-hour credit modules as they desire. No module can be open at the end of the ten-week term, or there are academic penalties. The format of the Excel Track program allowed me to work around my disabilities and achieve my academic dreams. The financial aid department is great to work with, and Purdue Global accepts the Pelle Grant. I enjoyed my experience so much that I decided to continue my studies, and now I am enrolled in the Excel Track Master in Science in Cybersecurity Management with a concentration in Critical Infrastructure Security. Purdue Global has been designated by the National Security Agency (NSA) and Department of Homeland Security as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (CAE-CD) for the Master of Science in Cybersecurity Management. Purdue Global also offers courses in more of a traditional format with lectures from professors and assigned work. I appreciated being able to buy my textbooks in print form for an additional cost outside of attendance. I have an eye injury and vision problems that make it more difficult for me to learn and absorb materials that are in a digital-only format. Good old-fashioned paper books are not available at all schools, and there were two or three classes that I had at Purdue University that did not have printed books available for students to purchase. Purdue Global's curriculum and commitment to academic excellence make it a far superior choice for cybersecurity-related degrees than ECPI, Western Governors University, and other institutions that I have attended. Overall, I recommend Purdue Global to anyone seeking an online format degree, and I feel that my education was a good value. Purdue Global also has partnerships with companies such as Booz Allen Hamilton, Northrop Grumman, and many more, to assist students in gaining employment after they graduate.
