Purdue University Global Reviews
I would love to tell you that I made it past admissions but that would be a lie. First off, I never talked to the same person. The first person I ever talked to was male and then some woman. I got sent old paperwork from Kaplan and after sending it in before the due date I didnt hear anything. For the longest the number I was provided to call was actually for a hotel. A DIFFERENT woman contacted me saying that paperwork I sent in wasnt correct so I informed her This is what your employee sent me... Well in the couple weeks it took her to check if theyd accept it, the original woman contacts me to tell me I sent in the wrong paperwork... THE PAPERWORK SHE INITIALLY SENT ME! I finally send everything in that Im assuming was correct.. but during this time Im also working and a week or two pass before I realize nobody has talked to me. No one seems to have gotten the hotel number fixed at the bottom of their emails but I eventually get ahold someone. The person who answers and asked me if my advisor has talked to me lately and I said no. In the process of trying to help get in contact with my adviso he names a man that is supposed to be my advisor... DIFFERENT MAN THAN THE FIRST MAN I EVER TALKED TO! I tell him I havent talked to the same person twice really and who I received my last email from and he sends me over to her, which is the one who sent me the wrong paperwork. Well wrong paperwork lady (WP) sent me an email after I sent her boss my paperwork since she asked her first (remember nobody has told me theyre my actual advisor and my advisor is actually supposed to be a guy). Her boss never told her I sent her my paperwork and then seeing that my mom wasnt taking a loan is when she decided to get snotty. My mom was on the phone with me because shes not understanding why this has been so hard for me. So WP starts getting an attitude with my mom trying to tell her as a parent what she did for her kid so she could attend school and how financial aid wasnt even enough for books. After a little back and forth she transfers me over to financial aid to see what I could possibly do. The people at financial aid are the only ones I didnt have a problem with and were pissed for me that nothing has been clear and I dont know who my actual advisor is. I talk to WO again after financial aid and this rude woman continues to insinuate that Mom isnt that great of a parent because she wont sign a loan for me asked me my age and made some comment under breath and told me we needed to hold off on my admission for a while since I didnt know how I was going to pay. I told her to forget it because this so disorganized and just an all around s*** show. Ive never had my time wasted like this in all my life.
I would not recommend this school to anyone. There are alot of added fees to the tuition, Financial aid is ALWAYS a mess, and they can be very rude. I was having family issues which caused me to have issues during one of my semesters. I retook the classes, and received 2 Bs. I was told by my academic advisor that I would be okay and keep up the good work. A few days later, I get a call from her stating I was being dismissed from the school due to my "completion rate". I became angry and said I never was told anything about this! She said "yeah its something we do" I asked her if it is something they do, why did she not inform me that this could happen!? She did not have an answer ans referred me to the "returning students" department to submit an appeal. I did what was asked. I was denied by the Dean because I would not provided my proof of my family issues (my grandmother fell ill, and my husband and I were going through martial counseling). The Dean wanted proof of my counseling session notes and my grandmothers doctors bills. I refused! AGAIN RUN FAR AWAY FROM THIS SCHOOL!!!
I understand every college is a business but they used underhanded techniques to collect as much unnecessary money as often as possible. They charge for items such as transcripts and are not upfront about tuition charges. I ended up with unexpected debt although I checked my account often to make sure I was paid to date and still have not gotten a break down of what these charges are for. They are strictly a business, not an actual education institution and I would recommend going anywhere else.
DO NOT USE YOUR FINANCIAL AID to attend this college I have had a terrible experience since they converted from Kaplan, financial aid information changed every time they kept pushing my disbursement date communication was very unclear I also asked could I take a loan out because a internship was part time and I needed to provide for my kids they would not give me any information for additional funds all they would say is your financial aid covers everything, which I already knew that can't sign up for a private loan because most student loans do not acknowledge Purdue this school is a scam look at the graduation rate and the job placement after receiving your degree be careful and do your research
Where do I start? This college is truly awful the professors do not care about you all!! I can teach better than they can!! The advisers are awful!!! They want your money and dont care abou you and how you do!!! Do yourself a great favor and go to any other college!!! Im transferring to penn state world next semester!!!
From day one of applying to this school they were messing up my paperwork. I said I would be using my GI-Bill Post 9-11 not financial aid on my application. They kept asking me to fill out a FAFSA and I had to continuously tell them I didn't need to use FAFSA. Then they lost my transcripts, then they found them, then they failed to read that I had a previously conferred and completed Bachelors and Masters Degree in on my transcripts and tried to block me from my courses saying that they needed my Bachelors which was on the same email with the same transcripts sent over. Then they wanted me to write a letter to the Dean which I had to do twice because they lost that letter as well. I got upset and told them I believe this school to be a fraud and scam. I couldn't even turn in my last homework assignment and they actually sent me a letter saying they dropped me due to the incomplete course assignment. I just laughed because I had two emails back and forth with my advisor and student support telling them what a scam their entire system was and that I wanted to leave their school and go somewhere more professional and organized that wouldn't keep loosing my paperwork.
The bad reviews on here seem to be entirely based on financial aid problems. I certainly understand the frustration about this. Their financial aid department is pretty bad if you rely on it to supplement income, but this is no reason to give them one star. The school is pretty rigorous. It is not uncommon to have labs that take 5 or more hours, 1000-2500 word papers, plus professors that hold you accountable for everything. The financial aid has been infuriating at times, but the school itself is good. I would do it again. I am currently evaluating my options for my PhD, and I would go to PG if they had a program. The cost is perhaps a bit too high though. I may choose a different option because of that, but it would only be based on the price.
I am very satisfied with Purdue Global University. I have had some highs and lows, but I'm sure all programs have them. The classes are easy to manage from week to week and I have had some awesome professors. I started with Kaplan during the fall of 2017 and did not know that Purdue was taking over. Transitions do not happen overnight and things have to be worked out. I would recommend this school to others, but I would want them to research for themselves first, and expect some not so great moments as with anything you pursue.
I was looking going back to school to finish up my degree, I ran across Purdue Global I am very happy to see that Purdue U ( not Global) was offering online degrees. Come to find out that this school was Kaplan ( Purdue Global). I went ahead and enroll in the school. My advisor told me that it was the same degree and the same classes being taught at Purdue U, but it not the same school. After doing some digging into the school all what Purdue U did was buy the education part of Kaplan. Purdue U told me they have nothing to do with how Purdue U is run and they don't handle any problems that going on at Purdue Global. Clearly I have a professor Ms. L. who is teaching Social Research Methods for Health Science which has no experience in the health care field, during her seminar all what you hear is a crying baby it would seem like she would attend to the baby but she keeps on talking and talking. So the degree will know as online degree just like Kaplan. DO YOUR RESEACH before you even think about going to this school it is still the same as Kaplan. I have contacted 6 schools and they all told they would not take any credits earned at Purdue Global because of the past of Kaplan and the lawsuits that Kaplan has lost. So don't be fool that you are attending Purdue U you attending whole different school with a different accreditation because I was told by the Mitch Daniels office the two schools has separate accreditation which the Prude U has different school code for aid and Purdue Global still has the same school as Kaplan, so I was that Kaplan will handle all the business part of Purdue Global and teaching methods as Kaplan U. Don't let Purdue Global fool you into thinking that you are earning a degree from Purdue U, if you earned a degree from Purdue Global your degree will be read as PURDUE UNIVERISTY GLOBAL NOT PURDUE UNIVERSITY THERE A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN THE DEGREES.
I went to Kaplan University for 4 years and enjoyed my advisor, most of my teachers, and the work, but once Purdue took over and I started my graduate program, I have become very unhappy with the service. Each of the graduate classes are 6 weeks long and expect you to do the same format as with the undergraduate degree, which was fine....unitl...I had my first two advisors never contact me and then a third one was assigned to me ( of which I knew nothing about) and the first thing she did was change my schedule without letting me know why she was doing this. I had already paid for my book and was ready to go. After about a week before the class started I noticed she had changed my schedule so I emailed her and told her this was not the way to do things, that I had not given her permission to change anything about my schedule or anything else for that matter and she better put it back. I received a quick email stating the class had been dropped and that was it. I was put into another class. II persevered since everything else seemed to be fine. But the professor's seemed as if the students bothered them and did not answer questions as they should have. Again I persevered. This past 6 week class was absolutely the worst! The so-called professor claimed to have taught this class for 10 years....what a joke! He did not answer questions through emails. NO, when one would ask questions he simply would send a copy of the syllabus. I am a 4.0 student and always have been and this moron is giving me 33's on most of my work without having to explain his self! I reach out to my old undergraduate advisor and I am told what he is doing is within the legal confines of his job and there is nothing I can do about it. Now here I am pissed off about this when I find out that I still haven't received my financial aid. Now mind you, it is usually disbursed by the second week of my classes and I am in the 6th week. I know they will get their money but the overages are what I live off of! I have called more than 4 times, emailed 4 times and I am still getting the run around. I am being told as of the first phone call that it will take another 3 to 5 business days. So I said fine. The second call promoted the response of another 7 to 10 business days. The third call promoted 3 to 10 business days. I was also told that because of the July 4th holiday and the fact that they were running behind it would take some time. I was also given the excuse that they were updating their systems. My disbursement was suppose to go into effect on June 8th...its now July 12th!!! I would NEVER recommend this school to anyone!!! As soon as I can get out I am going back to a traditional college.
