Rasmussen University Online Reviews of Associate in Criminal Justice

Before I start my review; I want to mention some key points: I graduate in September, I have a 3.9 GPA, and this is not my first time attending an online college or obtaining a degree. There seems to be a misconception on these reviews that any student who has had a less than stellar experience must be doing poorly or not familiar with a virtual school setting. Keep in mind for profit means their goal is to maximize monetarily on each student. So make sure your work is squared away because if they fail you, they get to charge you again. I've seen it happen to a few of my classmates. ( Based on the other comments, I'm curious what the retention rate is) My experience here has been the worst college experience I've ever had. In the Criminal Justice program for every subpar instructor you have, you will then have about five horrible ones. The worst part about this is you will have many of the same instructors 2-3 times! Most of the instructors have an odd chip on their shoulders; one stands out in particular, she will slay you on every assignment and then mock you in her comments to you. I found her classes to be uneventful as she will suck the life out of you and remind you how crappy she feels you are. It's not a great feeling. Please do your research and don't let the idea of their accelerated program trick you into wasting a ton of money or your military benefits. The course work is not challenging, but dealing with their horrible instructors who all have night and day expectations has not been worth it to me.

I have to say their career advisors knows how to sell a dream like a car salesman except they gave no warranties. I earned an associate degree in criminal justice with the hope of getting better jobs. However after graduation I found it is harder than the advisors made sound like. Then I decided to go for my BS in CJ. Prior to starting their " accelerate " program I changed my mind and let the advisor know and was told as long as I didn't sign into any of my online courses I will be charge any fees,... Read More however a year later I found out it hat was not the case. I was told they wouldn't release my transcript because of an outstanding debt. I told the rep what the advisor told than she said my advisor was no longer with the college and in order to have my transcript release I must pay for a course that I didn't sign up for nor did I sign in. So now I have to pay them $698 dollars in order to get my transcript release so I can go to a reputable college. Honestly I wish I knew better and did my research before enrolling into Rasmussen College. Because after I found out plus personal experiences I would not have enrolled.

Rasmussen is organized and the instructors are fantastic. The on-line format requires students to engage with other students, to engage with their instructors and read feedback for completed assignments. The library is well staffed and the personnel are helpful. If you are committed and mature and understand that your success depends on your level of interaction then you will have a good experience, however, it is not easy - if you are a slacker and don't take classes seriously and don't take the...
