Rasmussen University Online Reviews of Associate in Human Services

I have been in attendance for about 1 year online and learning Blackboard Ultra has been challenging but I understand it for the most part now. I agree with some of the reviewers that you won't hear much from your Academic Counselor in regard to guidance unless you are receiving an admonishment for something. Furthermore, I contacted Financial Aid for an understanding of my obligations and never received a phone call but did receive a few email responses which added to the confusion and ultimately... Read More did not completely resolve my understanding. Most of my instructors were pleasant individuals willing to work with me and ensure I understood the assignments and expectations, you will run into 1 or 2 here and there that are ornery but I think you will find that in any walk of life. My biggest challenge is not being able to attend most Live Classrooms because the greater portion of mine have been during daytime work hours and I can almost never attend. This adds another layer of strain due to not being able to ask clarification questions with immediate follow up leading to long threads of messages to cipher through.

Please please please don't waste your time nor money on this school and their broken promises. First off the only way to communicate to anyone is through a computer screen (or until they feel you owe them money, and all of a sudden you get phones calls and numbers to actually talk to someone other than through the computer) they cram all this information into 5.5 week courses and you don't have time to actually learn or grasp what your are reading or learning, you get to a point where you are only... Read More reading what you need to finish an assignment or the infamous group discussion. Every week you have a discussion, 2-4 assignments, quiz, and at week /module 6 you have a big project that you term in at the end of the course. The so called advisors that they assign you to will lead you on a path to destruction. Don't believe the hype about cheaper tuition (thats a lie), they charge you a fee for the downloading of the books for the courses you take (but dont fail that class and have to take it again, they charge you again for that book even though you may have had it last quarter or so). If you dont take anything else from my review please please hear me when I say dont waste your time nor money at Rasmussen.

This college is by far the worst as far as communication goes. The advisors are now in charge of financial aid issues, which takes away from the time that they should be spending helping students in other ways. The instructors are less than mediocre. I've had a handful of instructors since 2012 that have given half a damn about my education and helping me. I have learned a lot on my on and through peers with no help from the instructors. The financial aid department is a HOT MESS. They do not offer... Read More direct deposit to students and the advisors (who are now in charge of financial aid) do not know the appropriate answers to the questions that students ask. If you call to speak to someone in financial aid, you're told NO, you need to speak to your advisor. The staff that answers the phone for the online campus are very rude and unprofessional. I feel that I've wasted a lot of money at Rasmussen. Spend your money at a college who gives a darn about the success of their students and not at Rasmussen College.
