Saint Leo University Online Reviews of Bachelor's in Psychology

I was pleased with the ability to complete my bachelor's degree. The workload was heavy, the information taught was vast and the Professors ensured that you understood the material and the objective of the classes. Financial services was a horror. Two many cooks in the kitchen. I needed to submit documents numerous times before successful completion was accomplished. I even had to start two semesters without the accompanying book stipends. The teachers are amazing and you will definitely know your subject matter at the end of the courses.

I am currently attending Saint Leo for my BA in psychology. Here are the cons to the online programs: 1. Some of the instructors are great but others are HORRIBLE. I've had instructors who don't participate at all or teach the class anything. There is no recourse for a bad instructor. Advising administration does nothing. 2. You CANNOT change classes after the term has started. If you find you hate a course or instructor, you cannot drop the class and start another one, even if only one day has lapsed... Read More since the start of the term. Also, if you drop a class, it will likely really screw up your grants/scholarships so you're basically stuck. 3. Some advisors are great and others aren't. My first one was awesome but after she left, I was assigned to someone else. She completely ignored any questions I had. 4. VERY expensive, especially for the quality of the education! 5. A lot of the books used are made specifically for Saint Leo so they cannot be sold back. 6. Online students ARE NOT treated like members of the "Saint Leo Community". We're basically treated like the unwanted stepchildren of the school. For example, online students are not represented in the school yearbook. We have little representation within the school and requests frequently are ignored. 7. Class offerings is very limited. Of 8 psych classes I really wanted to take, only 2 were available online. This was very frustrating for me. 8. I cannot stress enough that some of the "teachers" are horrible!!! They are basically there to grade papers (to which they make grade deductions for no apparent reason) and do nothing else. I actually had a teacher (a doctor no less!) tell me to use Google or tutoring to answer my question rather than explain anything to me. 9. The financial aid office is horrible. If you call 6 times with the same question, you will get 6 different answers. All of them will be wrong. Do not take what they tell you as the gospel truth because they are basically clueless! I would not recommend this school to anyone who wants anything besides a piece of paper saying they graduated. If you actually care about your education, go somewhere else. I will not be attending Saint Leo for graduate school. I regret the tens of thousands I have spent with this school; however, since I am so far into my degree, it would be difficult to change schools at this point. (I will say, though, that I have very seriously considered transferring several times.) DO YOUR RESEARCH!! I absolutely regret my decision to attend Saint Leo.

I''ve been attending Saint Leo off and on for several years, had a few financial aid situations that kept me out of school for almost 2. years. However, I pressed on and was Alberto get back in school in 2012, working fulltime , wife and mother, I was only able to take 1 class a semester. Let me tell you, it was not easy, and there were one or two Professor's that were not the best, but for the majority of my time spent was awesome. The only regret, I have is that they have no online Master's in psychology program!

I went to college when I was younger for a couple years. I started bouncing around between a few universities merely to make my parents satisfied, but not really participating in my program. Ready to come back and finish my degree, I chose to attend Saint Leo. It's been an amazing experience. I was enrolled with the center for online learning - and despite any perceptions that online school is "easier"....it's not. It's just as challenging as attending a live campus. The professors do a good job... Read More allowing the cyber classroom to feel much like a real one. They are always reaching out to help students are seem to always be within reach whenever I needed anything. My favorite part about my classes here at Saint Leo is how inspired I seem to get with each new class I take - especially courses not required for my major program. Saint Leo has given me a well rounded education and has opened my mind up to a lot of new areas and topics. My top two elective courses at Saint Leo, if I could recommend a couple, would be Native American Studies and the course on Evolution (Your Inner Fish). Saint Leo is different from other schools I've attended. Other schools seem unorganized and impersonal. I've never had an issue with Saint Leo administration or advising...though at other schools these departments have be nightmares. I think I've registered for two classes by myself here at Saint Leo, while most every semester my adviser checks in with me via phone to sign me up for my classes. My adviser really feels more like a guardian angel of sorts - I've never had that at any other school.
