"Despite what I say, I'm glad that I went to San Diego State University. It was a great experience that made me friends for a lifetime, with a beautiful campus that I enjoyed, within a city that's wonderful to live in. However, as an educational institution, the school has many problems serving the needs of its students. Due to budget cuts (which most schools are facing in times like these) many classes were cut or unavailable during my four years at SDSU, with more disappearing as the years went on. The race for registering classes was a brutal one, and budget cuts also made it increasingly difficult to get into your desired major (as it made it more competitive, because of being "impacted"). I had several teachers that I will remember and cherish as being extremely helpful and intelligent...and many more that were quite the opposite. However, the instructor reviewing system at the end of each semester is designed to address the concerns of students, and everyone I knew took that as an opportunity to describe why their professors failed as educators. In short, the school as very little money. With what money it does have, it builds million-dollar "student centers" (which was literally being built my entire four years there) instead of addressing dwindling classes and teachers. The two majors that I had were very different, but they were both competent. The English department is fine, and the TFM department is beginning to make a name for itself within the film school world."
