"I graduated from this college, and so did my fiance. We have to say that getting help from them was heartbreaking. They get you in with a lot of flowery speeches, leading you to believe they will help you find work. (They do NOT help you find a job after you graduate.) Nope, no they will not. And when you call to ask for help (which my fiance did this year since he graduated recently) the coordinator, who was hired to do so, was very nasty, rude, inconsiderate and belittling. It was the same for me, also, I left messages and was never returned any phone calls for help. During your time in the career you are training for you will have a chance to see how much money you 'should' be making per a salary site they have you use, lets just say that in today's recession you will more than likely not make half of what it says your career choice should be making. This school does not inform you that they are just the basics, that after you graduate you MUST apply for a university or else your degree is pretty much like a high school diploma. The only value in it is to say you did some college, but not enough to get you a good job in these times. The teachers were not 'teacher'-teachers but former employees in their career choices. Therefore they have no degree in teaching you like a college professor would. These teachers do what they are told, get you in, cram cram CRAM you full of information for 5 weeks, then send you off to your next set of classes. Those that I had were mildly professional while some just were generally there to get paid. We both regret having gone to this college because now we have thousands of dollars in loans to pay and no jobs available to assist us. We are grievously disappointed."

"If I would not lose 7,000 dollars I would drop out of my program. I have never had so many rude teachers for an education I had to take loans out to pay for!!my student advisior never answers my calls, and I never recieve job leads like i was told I would. I feel like you people rip students off and they are the ones paying you people.the teachers at this school need to go back to school themselves. I have had students cheat off of my online discussion posts and emailed the dean and my teacher and nothing was done. so wrong."

"I second the review about not having any assistance with the externship. I to had the same problem they would not return calls or messages until I finally said I am calling a lawyer then they finally called back only to say that my advisor no longer works there and again no assistance! Do not waste your time and money on this school."

"I have been a student with SJVC online. I have done two programs and payed ALOT of money for my education. I have had numerous problems trying to get a repsonse from staff!! When I started this school was very organized, NOW NOT AT ALL.You must wait 24 hours for a response from anyone. So what are these staff memebers doing in the office?? The school even sent me a book that fell apart the frist time I even opened the book. The school switched over their learning pages and expect you to just figure it out because even their staff has not been trained on how to use the web site. What great teaching skills NOT!"

"I got my Associates of Science degree in CMA from SJVC Online. The classes were good, for the most part I like the teachers at SJVC. Honestly I have not found a job in my field and I can not say it because of SJVC.Medical Assisting is not as "booming" as everyone makes it seem, unless you have several years of experience in Medical Assisting, then you will have a hard time finding a job in that field. I however transferred my entire degree into a bachelors degree program at another university and hope to find a stable career after I graduate from my new school.I finished my Associates degree in 16 month's which is great and I found it useful to transfer for credits so I liked SJVC because of that, I can't say that the degree I have helped me get a job though because it has not. I think SJVC is a good starter for your college career if you plan on going beyond your associates degree because you can use it towards further your education, that is what I will suggested it for."

"They make you think it is the top Respiratory Therapy school in the area but for $43000, I could have saved some money and achieved my bachelor's degree and waited to get into the community college's program. The current classroom instructor's have limited clinical experience only home-health care experience. They also treat you like children. I have children and I don't treat my children that way."

"I am very disappointed in this school. I feel that after excelling and making the Dean's List each course that all I'm going to have to show for my hard work is my Dean's List Certificate and outstanding student loans. I have had virtually no assistance in finding an externship site. All the place that I have attempted to do my externship will not accept me because I took classes online which I suppose in their eyes equals subpar education. My classes are over and I still do not have an externship site and my advisor seems to be avoiding my calls and fails to return my messages.I would not recommend taking any classes that require any type of extern/internship online. Many clinics and medical facilities will not accept out-of-state or online programs for their extern/intern programs. This has been a very expensive and difficult lesson for me to learn-the hard way! Consumer Beware1"

"Well my CMA classes are going great! I even took the MOA program in 2005-2006 and this is what made me come back to SJVC Online for the CMA program.I THOUGHT that I set up externship in January for my March 9th externship with my then Career Service Advisor. I was sooo excited when March 9th came but when I got there, they acted like they did not know who I was! My Career Service Advisor was the one that set me up with this facility because there was another student that was to go to this site but she decided to go somewhere else (I know why now!). I told them this and they said that they would have to call this student because she was supposed to be here the following Monday. So I was there for 30 minutes and I heard this Medical Assistant talking to this student on the phone and I was SITTING RIGHT THERE and she tells her "We just wanted to make sure that you are still coming because we have a lot of people that just show up here." I let her know QUICKLY that I do not come where I am not wanted! And they finally found my paperwork hidden on someone's desk and it was incomplete! I spoke with this Office Manager on JANUARY 30TH and he said to just come on in with my scrubs on and tennis toes and bring my stethoscope on March 9th. I was there EARLY and it was a disaster! The Career Service Advisor that I was working with is all of a sudden no longer there and the new one that I have is no help to me at all! I have to call him and he does not follow up with the sites that I gave him like he is supposed to!My graduation for April 12th is not going to happen! I am so frustrated! I resigned from my job to extern! I had enough money for this time saved up! I think that I am going to transfer to a LOCAL college here and see what classes that I have taken transfer over. This sets back my goal but I am not going to give up but SJVC is not where I will be graduating from! I am so disappointed!!!"

"As another post stated, "I am shocked to see SJVC has a poor rating". This is the only school that I have ever felt hasn't lied to me just to obtain my money. Of course, as an accelerated program it is going to be more expensive; however, I feel it has been more than worth it. The enrollment process felt like it wasn't "my job" to take care of anything, I was just going back to school! I can't say any other school has been able to provide that feeling to me. The coursework has always come from the textbooks we are provided and from lectures provided by the instructors. We use a simulator for the clinical training that very closely resembles the actions you would perform when doing things such as drawing blood, etc. My instructors have always responded quickly to any concerns I've had and I have even made a great friend in my online classrooms. I read the poor review from someone else and absolutely do not understand where some of that comes from.My career services advisor began working on my extern site 4 months before I was scheduled and had everything set up and signed 3 months before. I will begin my externship in May. I have maintained a 4.0, been on the Dean's list the entire time I've been enrolled and have absolutely no complaints about this program at all. I am thankful I finally found a school that meets my needs as a student and provides such wonderful support to me."

"I finish SJVC Online with my Associates degree tomorrow. I was a little scared at first to attend here because SJVC did not have the best reviews and I am the type of person who does not finish anything, when I completed my cretification I knew I could make it through my associates and I finally did. Two classes evey 5 weeks was hard at times but I still had time for myself and family in between, I learned a lot and I am happy I choose this school.I have a friend that went here and she did not like it but she's 10 times lazier then me so I can understand why she did bad, as for me I really enjoyed SJVC, and I wish they had a bachelor program. Good School CMA Program 2012 Graduate"
