"I thought it was an excellent school for the price. My instructors were knowledgeable and good at teaching for the most part. My program set me up with 2 valuable internships that helped me be very marketable when I was on the job market after graduation."

"The School of Social Work professors at San Jose State University were solid- most were either researchers or had practical experience in the field. They were knowledgeable and taught well. I participated in high quality internships that prepared me well for the jobs I took after graduation. I felt like the education that I got was a good value as tuition was much lower than at comparable schools."

"There are many positive qualities of the Master's program of the social work department at San Jose State University. There is a great support of the professors and guidance towards being successful throughout the program. There is a consistent network development in which the student is always supported throughout their studies. Unfortunately, there have been many recent changes to the program, and we no longer have a cohort system. This has impacted the moral of the student body and collaboration. Tuition has continued to rise and in addition there have been multiple cuts in the acceptance of student enrollment. The University has changed drastically."

Cons: The night classes for part-time students do not always parallel with required internships which created unnecessary stress. The area is not always safe, parking can be difficult, and"

"San Jose State University is within a diverse community and fully embraces it. The SJSU MSW program is also highly connected to community, offering students numerous opportunities to develop themselves as social workers. The only con is that they discontinued the cohort system, leaving students without a support system as previous class years."

"The Social work program at SJSU is great! The campus resources and community may be lacking because it's a commuter school."
