"Many of the faculty are leaders in the field and have contributed, authored, or edited textbooks that are standard for curricula throughout the country. The con is that they recently revamped the curriculum and my class year is the guinea pig for all classes for this curriculum. Also, they got rid of the BS to MS program of Occupational Therapy so it all is Entry-Level only. This is both a pro and con."

"I earned a B.S. degree in Kinesiology at SJSU. Loved most of my instructors and classes. They were very thorough in covering all topics of Kinesiology, although I want to become Physical Education teacher. Now I will have to earn a CA teaching certificate in order to teach, which will take another year and a half."

"Great program at SJSU for Urban Planning, you cannot beat the mixture of professional and academic faculty. Great mixture of students from all over the world, incomes, and backgrounds. Also the program is among the more affordable in California that has professional certifications. Urban Campus in the middle of downtown."

"This program is what you make of it. If you just want to get a degree you can slack and float through the program but if you really wanted to take advantage of instructors and opportunities you could get so much of this program!!"

"I currently live off campus and don't participate with the campus community as much as I would like, so I had a hard time answering the questions related to the campus community/surrounding areas. However, the experiences that I have had have been wonderful. The program is quite small, which offers an amazing experience to get to know your professors and peers on a very personal level. All of the professors are incredibly supportive and available - the professors are our biggest fans throughout the program. The environment is incredibly welcoming, and all the students work together to achieve success for everyone. The program emphasizes new media and new technologies. So rather than a more theoretical graduate program - such that you would find at a UC school - this program is incredibly hands on. We're learning very relevant and applicable skills that are true and tangible resume builders. I truly believe this program is preparing me, in the best way possible, to find a career that I love."

"San Jose State University is within a diverse community and fully embraces it. The SJSU MSW program is also highly connected to community, offering students numerous opportunities to develop themselves as social workers. The only con is that they discontinued the cohort system, leaving students without a support system as previous class years."
