Only pro is some good teachers and great clinical placements at prestigious hospitals in Boston that's great for networking. **Highly unsatisfied for many reasons. They charge an insane amount of tuition (that increases each year) and other stupid expenses but the cost does not reflect the quality. Didn't have a professor for the first 2 weeks for one of my courses Fall 2022. Registrar can't do their job - at least in nursing dept. - doesn't solidify final exam dates until 1 month from when final... Read More

I did the online FNP program from 2013-2016. I have now been a practicing FNP since 2016. I work as a family medicine primary care provider. The program definitely did not teach me everything I needed to know and there were gaps as there are with any school (including my prestigious undergraduate nursing program). I did however learn enough to pass the boards with a great score on the first attempt and to know my scope and my limits, how to be a safe provider, and I have been building on this ever... This is by far the worst university I have ever attended. They claim the program to be for working nurses with families yet every semester they come up with completely unreasonable rules that insinuate otherwise. How the hell do you come up with a rule that states late assignments receive a 0 just the same as an assignment not turned in at all. How the hell do you come up with a rule that states they will not round grades up but will happily round them down to the lower grade. Do not attend this... Read More

After seeing all the negative reports about Simmons online FNP program from 2017 I really regret signing up for the program. If you are entering this program now please rethink your choices!!! I noticed all their 5 star reviews on their website are from 2014! That should’ve been RED FLAG number one! Apparently things have not changed a bit since 2017. Still no ability to see or learn from incorrect answers on exams, still using proctor track which is horrible, tech support still sucks!!!!!! And worst... Read More

I attended the Simmons FNP (online) program, just graduated early this year (2021). We had a structured Zoom meeting each week for classes in which we reviewed the course material for the week and the lecture. Some of the content was asynchronous, so some self-learning, and some content review during class time. I honestly loved the program while in it. About 14 students per class, you got to know everyone in your cohort, and the small class sizes attributed to good discussion and overall learning.... Read More

Self taught not caring while we are in this pandemic there is less support not sure why there’s not practice questions on one course and other courses give practice questions. Asynchronous is where the exams are attending class is okay. Regret going to this school don’t be like me. Go somewhere else

Avoid like the plague, unless you enjoy getting sucked into $10K per semester tuition that will hook you with easier stuff and then, once in debt up to your eyeballs, will throw “advanced” courses at you taught largely by uninformed adjuncts, or by regular faculty via prerecorded lectures that often contradict the books they assign and then said regular faculty can’t be bothered to communicate with you outside of class. I can’t tell you how many classes I took where exams were a disaster and they... Read More

I was done with my coursework June 21, and passed my boards on June 25. This program was tough, but doable With working Part-time and raising a family. We were hit with some clinical hour challenges with COVID, but the school allowed us to finish with the 500 required clinical hours. My words of advice are to plan to find your own clinical sites for your rotations. It was my understanding that it was the schools responsibility to find the sites, but it was very difficult for them. Start networking... Read More

Simmons I feel very prepared. This was a pleasant surprise. The online class through zoom is very beneficial to learning and support. Online classrooms is beneficial because I am able to communicate with my professor and receive immediate support and commandeer from my classmates. I am extremely excited to continue my education with simmons.

Simmons is an excellent resource to help me meet the requirements to fulfill my dreams! I am grateful for the faculty and their expertise and that they are able to impart it to me in an online forum. This allows me the flexibility to go to grad school and so what’s needed to complete my education from a rural setting.

The FNP program is comprised of well educated and professionally experienced nurse practitioners. The additional emphasis on research sets Simmons apart from most other NP programs. You get both didactic and hands on experience. As a young NP I feel the choice of Simmons is well worth the time and money.

Simmons prepares you for certification, it’s challenging, it’s on line and helps me work around my work schedule. Student support staff Jay Tallmadge is the best! Immersion was a great time! It brought all the faces together, we met classmates and learned a lot about each other

Great online program, very rigorous but it definitely is preparing me to be an FNP. I feel like the online program is preparing me to be a competent NP. They also assist in finding you your clinical placement which was an essential component for me when choosing a program

My time at Simmons has been an amazing experience. Classes have been informative challenging and transforming. I believe that the FNP program at Simmons University fully prepares new practitioners to take on the challenges that the future holds. As I continue with the last year of my studies at Simmons I hope to continue to improve and evolve with my assessment skills along with my use of medications and more.
