South University Online Reviews
I enjoyed attending South University. Time management is the key to any learning experience, especially Online classes. I applied myself and was always present and received the education I came for. Since I was changing industry fields, I knew the a BSPH would not be sufficient. I enrolled in another University for my MPH degree that is CEPH certified in Public Health so that I would be fully qualified to work in my chosen field. South University was an excellent stepping stone for me. I don't quite understand the negative comments from some other students. They appear to need more secondary schooling and just not college material and not understanding that you have to have a solid plan and goals and most of all apply yourself to your fullest extent. South University from start to finish helped me to realize my full potential. I was an excellent student and now attend George Washington Miliken school of Public Health for my MPH. I could not have accomplished this without South University.

I have had nothing but a good experience with this university so far. The workload can be heavy; however, you get what you put in to it. Online programs are designed for motivated, self-driven professionals who want to advance their career. I would choose this school again.
As I read through each review I am terrified at how accurate the description of staff and financial issues are. I decided to transfer schools when I was told I could not take more than two classes at a time. That bothered me. So I did some research- All a I can really tell those who are looking into online school is- DO YOUR RESEARCH! If the school does not tell you up front how much each credit will cost, forget them. South was on probation for fraud not too long ago. Once I realized I was being financially screwed, I withdrew from classes. All of a sudden it was impossible to get ahold of any contact on my academic team. Please, like many others have stated in their review do not waste your time here. Save your money, go to a credible school.
This school is a joke! The staff that is suppose to guide and assist you through the program is VERY RUDE. The classes are self taught and you have to find your own clinical rotations. And if you are unable to find locations that is your problem. As I was told by the regional coordinator it is my responsibility to find a preceptor not hers, even though I had called sixty locations. I am transferring schools. They care about money, not student success. Choose any school besides this one.
Steer clear of South University. They are a for-profit business (not an institution of higher education) and they run all of their departments that way. They don't care about the students; money is their only object. I was a student from 2008-2011 and graduated. The coursework was not meaningful and I question the validity of my MBA compared to other schools. You can never get in contact with your advisor, financial aid, or academic services. They don't even offer unofficial transcripts - you have to pay a fee to have official transcripts created, which have a minimum 3 week wait time and they will only mail them. There are numerous other universities out there that are less expensive and will offer an actual quality education and experience. Please, don't waste your time with this train wreck of a school.
Ridiculous school. Won't release your transcripts until you have paid them in full. Plus, they sell your loans to a collection agency. The instructors weren't too bad, they were educated. I could never get a hold of anyone, and having an even harder time since I've left.
I graduated with a 4 year degree from this school. Graduating meant everything to me as I was a high school drop out with only a 9th grade education. I busted my butt for 4 years to do the best I could to succeed. I did end up graduating and for that I am thankful. Throughout my schooling I was contacted by my academic advisor and financial advisor regularly- which was awesome as it helped to keep me on track. However, once I graduated- all contact stopped. I began receiving harassing calls from a debt collector called Access Receivables and was notified through them that I owed the school over 9K- due to the fact that for some reason my fafsa never disbursed. Therefore I reached out to my financial aid advisor to inquire about this as I do not want my credit score to be affected with my account apparently being in collections. Mind you, this money owed to the school is on top of my student loans which are deferred until January 2019,which is over 48K. Anyways- apparently once you graduate, financial aid does not believe in advising and helping those who graduate understand what is going on and help with a resolution. I ended up reaching out to supervisor- who advised he would have my account removed from collections. I am beyond stressed at this point- I am still receiving harassing calls from the debt collector. I was advised by supervisor that he would have my account removed from collections and that he could put me in touch with those who could help me work out a payment plan for what I owe to the school- outside of my loans. I am completely distressed over this matter as I have been working so hard on my credit and now I can see all that hard work going down the drain when all I want to do is get this issue resolved and work out a payment plan so my credit wont be negatively impacted. What I thought was a great opportunity for me- to get a degree- is turning into a nightmare that could affect me for years. I have never felt so neglected and so alone when it comes to something like this. it is truly like one does not matter once one graduates. I will never forget this experience.
The college is BS. I went online for about 3 months before I decided to transfer. I done a bachelor's degree in Public health and majored in biology. I had a $5000 grant, and also had to take out a $5000 student loan, for 1 semester may I add. And I just got a letter saying I owed them another $800. And they didn't even send me the right amount of my reimbursement, not even half of what the DOE told me what I would get. The counselors are there to help all the way, UNTIL your enrolled. I called my financial counselor, and she didn't even know she WAS my financial counselor. This school is awful. I wouldn't even waste my time trying to go here.
