Southern New Hampshire University Online Reviews of Bachelor's in Business Administration

I'm now 54 and have been doing the SNHU Online learning for almost four years. I'll start my last 8-week term in 3 weeks. Others may have very well had poor support from teachers, advisors and IT. But for me, I can say that I've been very happy with SNHU, the teachers, my advisors and my courses. And from what I can tell from "Nice to be in the class with you" posts in Week 8 of each class that I've had, everyone's been pretty happy with their classes.

It's true, the first term I was really, really lost on how to navigate the bulletin board, find assignments, announcements and grades. And that's after my friend, who had been doing online learning with SNHU for a year, walked me through it. But then I figured it out on my own and came up with a few tricks. Keeping your weekly work in something like Evernote, separated into weekly folders that are separated into each class, all under an SNHU folder, really helped me. I also keep documents on Dropbox in an SNHU folder. Once you're organized like this it makes things somewhat easier.
Are there some nutty professors? Yes, some have cracked me up a bit. One teacher will want you to do something one way. The next teacher will almost scold you and say, "Why did you do it that way?" But guess what? That's how life works and that's how the business world is. I'd consider it part of the education if you're just getting into your working career.
I saw one review that said, "This can all be learned on YouTube." Probably so, I'm sure that it's the same for all online classes. I don't think there are many schools that offer regular lectures for undergraduates. But at SNHU you will have some classes that have several live streaming sessions. Online learning is not like sitting in a classroom, it's catered to those that have less time and don't have access to a regular school due to time constraints or location.
I would have liked to have seen the six-month rental of books less than they were. That might not be directly in the hands of the universities. But they could push the publishers to have more reasonable rates.
Other than that, I'd give SNHU a solid 4/5 stars and recommend it based on my experience with the institution.

Let us start with the facts: I took 4 online classes from SNHU at a cost of over 4K. If one were to take all 40 classes for a ba that would be 40K. I received 4 A's in the classes I took. The pros: With any online class/school obviously you are taking it to save time and money on driving and for class/study flexibility. The cons: Where do I start? COST: At 1k a class I find that very expensive for an online learning platform. YES, many online colleges charge the same or more...but so what? It doesn't... Read More make it right. When you think you could go to an actual campus with live professors for the same money at other colleges I find the 1K per class cost crazy. It should be no more than $500. QUALITY: As with many online classes quality can offer suffer. Basically you are assigned reading material. You read the material....post some comments, reply, and eventually get graded. I'm sorry....I can take a book out at the library and do the same thing. Teachers will give A's to students who actually know how to put a paragraph together because 2/3 of the students have no concept of writing, or, they put no effort in. So when the teacher compares your paragraph with a one sentence answer by others...you look good. The lack of real, personal, insight from the teachers are rare and instead you get a lot of "spot on's", "great work", etc. LEARNING: At the end of the day, the end of the class, can you look back and say "wow, I learned a lot there that I can take into my profession or life?" No. Instead, at least for me, after the 4 classes and 4k I looked back and said, "wow, I just spent 4k and learned, really, nothing major". In that sense the classes were a waste of time and money. I'm sure, or I suspect, that other classes do provide some people with new information that they can say they learned something. Just not in my case I guess. REALITY: Cheating is rife with online classes/students often letting others do the work for them. As an employer I would never look at two people the same if one had a BA from an online college vs someone who actually attended school. I would give the person who attended school a 10 while the person with an online degree a 3 out of 10....a very significant difference.

I started this program in 2017 and graduated December 2018. I was able to transfer a vast majority of credits from community colleges as I do not qualify for financial aid and I wanted to keep my student loan debt as low as possible. I had two advisors throughout my time there and they were both very attentive and checked up on me and was always available. I definitely do not feel as though my degree was handed to me. Some professors were not good but that is anywhere honestly. I also had some very good professors that have their doctorate and encouraged me to get my master's. I am considering pursing my master's here again, only reason I may opt out is I live in Texas and I would like to attend the ceremony as I didn't get to attend my bachelor's ceremony since it's so far away. I just graduated and my company just gave me a raise and put me on a manager development program! The degree is already paying for itself!

I was not sure what to expect and was very hesitant because of bad reviews. BUT I AM SO HAPPY I JOINED! I started off working towards my Associate's but switched to Bachelor's. I take two courses a term that last 8 weeks. Most classes has discussion posts due Thursday and the rest due Sunday. Finacial aid is available and you can get finacial aid book vouchers to help pay for books. I like that I can read my coursework and do my homework from my phone. You can get to know your classmates and ask questions. I highly recommend SNHU.

I have attended many online universities as I looked for "the right fit." I have been to UoP, Southwestern College and UMUC, all of which do not compare to the support I receive from the back offices and the compassion that the professors have in the School of Business. For those that proclaim that the school is stealing their money, every single other school mentioned also has a "no-refund" date. I am scheduled to finish my degree this fall '19, and graduate in 2020. During my terms online I have had many issues arise, from life events, to working 80 hours/week, yet the instructors are always understanding and will allow the work to be made up! The only requirement is that you communicate with them. I am certain that they will not be as understanding if you wait for three weeks then decide "uh-oh." The coursework is consistent, keeping me busy about 10-15 hours/week for 100/200 level course and about 20-25 hours for 300/400 level courses (I am enrolled full-time).

SNHU is a decent school and gives you everything you need to be prepared for a workforce. It's all what you put in it. Classes are very well structured and all the process of getting assignments done is flawless. Financial aid was processed in four days. I never had issues with the instructors or adviser or financial office. The only thing that I do not like is that they are basically open admission school. They admit sub par students and it is true that even doing minimal work they still can pass... Read More the class. Even though you have to put a work to get a good grade, in order just to pass the class it's enough to do the bare minimum. They keep really bad students for financial profit but it's ruins their reputation. I can't say if classes are difficult , I did first two years in state B&M school and it was not difficult for me neither , but I can tell that this online classes a bit more of a challenge than it was in a regular school. They require you not to memorize material but apply theory to practice . I learn how to use my judgment in different situations . The negative side of this school is that they ruin their reputation by taking in whatever pays and it is not fair to students who are actually smart and work for their degree.

This university does not help students get professional jobs . They have done one job fair in 2016 , but it was not so effective because most of the companies who were hiring are not career jobs . SNHU does not have enough resources to help student get a job after they graduate . They will only have a career advisor who will help build up your resume and give you some ideas on how to do well in interviews , but its still not enough . Whenever I apply for a job and they see SNHU on my resume they think its a complete joke . Now I'm stuck paying student loan from a university where I receive a little to none growth within my career and also education .If I were you , go to a local / public university because they have many resources to help elevate students once you finish school compare to a private university . It may take longer to finish at an local university , but it will be worth waiting for . Please , avoid making the same mistake I made by not continuing your education at this university . This is a profit school who only cares about making money and care less about helping students succeed .

I can only speak about my experiences and general assumptions through my time at SNHU. From the moment you request information from them, they'll call you a lot. The admissions advisor was able to answer my questions and provide all the required documents I needed to enroll. I'm using my GI Bill to pay for my classes, so I didn't have to deal with financial aid. The GI Bill portion was quick and painless. I have found the classes to be quite easy. I did well for two years at a community college before... Read More attending SNHU, but I definitely had to work harder. The classes follow rubrics that I found to be easily understandable. If your projects are completed by following the rubrics, then you will receive high grades. If you complete all the assignments, even with some poor grades, then you will pass the classes. Something I wanted to note is that the online instructors aren't there to teach the material. They guide the classes through the rubrics and grade assignments based off the rubrics. If you require someone to actually teach you the material, you will probably not be successful at SNHU online. I also found the late policy to be extremely forgiving for students. Through my personal experience, I've found that they want their students to succeed and will help in any way they can. My only problem with SNHU is how their degrees are perceived by employers.

SNHU Online is the best school that I have attended. It is perfect for those who have worked in a particular industry and need to finish studies. It is a non-profit institution. I had a great experience learning. It is not an "easy" school. It is perfect for the self-motivated learner. If not self-motivated you may not enjoy it. I found the school to be exceptionally organized and the staff was exceptionally receptive. SNHU is GREAT!

I started SNHU right out of high school, and it ended up being the perfect fit for me. The courses are not easy, and you have to work hard to get a good grade. I was surprised to see some of the bad reviews on here, but I guess online courses do not work for everybody. I know people who have graduated from SNHU and have gotten great jobs afterward. This was the reasons I chose SNHU over other colleges with online programs. This school has physical campuses, well accredited, and is respected by employers.... Read More I am only half way done with my degree program, and it is getting much more intense. The professors and advisors are very helpful when you need to ask questions. I would recommend this school for someone who wants to further themselves in their career.

My experience at SNHU online was favorable. The online coursework ranged from moderate too easy. That being said, SNHU's online undergraduate programs work best for working professionals with established resumes in need of a degree. People without an established career may be better served attending at traditional 4 year college. The course instructions in ALL of the courses in 9 terms I've taken is horrible. There are errors and missing information that continually require clarification. The online program only has facilitators - not instructors and certainly not teachers - only people who regurgitate what is handed to them. Some of them have clearly not even read the course content. In inquiry after inquiry about gaps, omissions, and jumble instructions, responses are met with comments along the lines of - I didn't put... This experience should have been a pleasant and easy one (for me), but it was made quite uncomfortable and MUCH more difficult than it should have been due to the extra work required of me.

SNHU is an amazing school and their online program was great. It provided an excellent work life balance. The instructors and student advisors were all very nice. I never once had anyone act rude or annoyed when I needed help with something. Great interactions with the students and online site in general. If you are really unsure of what school to attend, if you are going through review after review and asking many people what should you do, then you are where I was before I choose SNHU. I do not regret choosing this school. Every instructor is willing to help you plus you have an adviser, an online discussion board for questions and tutoring that's available to you.
