Southern New Hampshire University Online Reviews of Bachelor's in Criminal Justice

I will be graduating in January of 2023, and my experience at SNHU has been great. I actually enjoy the way they have the curriculum set up for you for every class. You work towards your end goal of completing each final in a methodic way. I have never experienced that before at any other college. Most of my classmates that I have interacted with during my studies feel the same way. I enjoyed my time here, and I plan on pursuing my Master's Degree at SNHU. I hope this helps any potential students.

I am currently attending SNHU for a bachelors in Criminal Justice. I went to school to learn but majority of my classes have focused on the critical race theory. I have attended school for 2 years now and have yet to have a class that did not focus on this. I can understand some classes focusing on racism but every single class is repetitive. I can pass my classes with A's without evening trying or putting much effort. I am not sure I am learning from this school. I feel like I am paying them for... Read More the diploma. I am worried that when I continue my education I will not have the necessary knowledge needed to continue onto law school.

I was really excited to start at SNHU for a lot of reasons. However, that excitement took a major turn for the worse. Although everyone I spoke to was kind when I spoke to them, I had absolutely no control over my degree. The advisor I was working with wouldn't give me any information to access a course plan, my email, or any student portal information. She registered me for my classes as well without giving me an option of what classes to take. When I finally got access to the portal I found out... Read More they were trying to charge me $2,000 dollars for one class and were trying to sign me up for student loans as well. I also found out that my advisor had signed me up for the next three terms without my knowledge. I decided quickly after reviews that I should drop my classes and work something else out and figure out my own schedule. It would not let me drop my classes, an advisor had to do it. In all my college experience, I have never felt so powerless over my own education and schedule. I sent email after email and my advisor just spun me around in a circle and wouldn't let me drop the classes. A phone advisor said my original advisor was the only one who could do it. After several days and getting nowhere, another advisor FINALLY dropped my classes for me. Then proceeded to ask what personal reasons I was dropping my class for. I never took a class from SNHU but my experience was a college students nightmare. I will not be attending SNHU and I recommend to anyone to avoid this school. All they care about is getting people to take their classes, they could care less about the student.

This school is my first online school and it was a huge mistake. From day one there was issue after issue. My student portal was completely down for the first week and a half of the term at no fault of me own. I was in turn held accountable for all the class work and discussions that I had absolutely no access to. Not one of the many people I had spoke to seemed to have any solution one way or another. One particular professor decided to fail me for the first weeks of the term even though I had reached... Read More out to her to let her know what was going on. I tried to just withdraw and they would not let me withdraw, had no solution for the failing grades I had received. Highly disappointed and will not be returning.

SNHU was a great experience for my undergraduate studies. I attended for 2 years and completed my program in February, 2017. I really like the expedited terms and course formatting. It is hard work, but as soon as you feel burned out, you realize it's half over. It is very accommodating for a busy lifestyle. The professors are eager to see you succeed and will go out of there way to help you...if you're willing to help yourself. I see a lot of comments about their degree being worthless, but the... Read More bottom line is all education has value. Having a completed Bachelor Degree, on my resume, demonstrates my ability to commit, work hard, and meet goals. The advisors and support staff are excellent. I never once had to be on a waiting list, or found myself not enrolled in classed I needed. If I had concerns, they listened and planned according to my wishes and goals. The cost per unit is extremely reasonable! The $960.00 per class is nothing compared to UC costs of 468.00 per credit hour ($1404 per 3 credit class)!! I recommend this school to anyone!

Honestly, I am severely disappointed with the quality of instruction that goes on in the continuing education online department. It is painfully blatant that the instructions have little to no direction over their courses. They are basically there to grade, and that is it. The finals are a joke. Every week you complete a "milestone" to build up to your final project. So I am a little older now, I got tired of having jobs I was miserable in. I started looking into schools. I almost went to a crappy other online school, But Southern New Hampshire saved me from making a mistake. I don't start school till the end of October, and I am really looking forward to it. There customer service was a bit iffy. I kept calling my administrator, But I never got a call back, which made me even more frustrated. But I'm glad southern new Hampshire got a hold of me. Southern New Hampshire University is an accredited, private and not-for-profit University that provides a wealth of opportunity for a wide variety of students. Their instructors are professional, knowledgeable and easily accessible. The instructors are also engaged with their students and can usually give real world insight into numerous topics, especially in the Criminal Justice field.
