"After reading many questionable reviews, I had high hopes for the ONLINE program at SNHU. I assumed honestly, the folks whining on this site were simply that- folk whining! I am a middle aged professional and have always done extremely well in school and my job. I am professional, detail oriented and pretty sharp. All of this is said to articulate what type of person I am. It was my second term where the frustration started for me, to the extent that I summoned my adviser to intervene. My adviser has been absolutely fantastic- nothing but praises for her! The courses are pre-designed, and what I am seeing is that the adjunct professors (and that's predominately what they are) simply grade your work. They offer very little to no instruction. I spent more time trying to figure WHAT I was supposed to do rather than actually doing it. Repeatedly, I would pose clarification questions to my professors only to have them state "I get this question all the time- they need to fix the course". Who is this nebulous "they?". My response has been "with all due respect, if you know you are going to get a lot of requests for clarification then why don't you kick off the week with additional instruction? Perhaps a simple announcement with the clarifying details...or my GOD...create a power point or online tutorial... do what you are paid to do, dear instructor and INSTRUCT! From a consumer standpoint, I am quite irritated. I didn't get what I paid for - which was to be taught. So, while I know SNHU is cheaper than most, I would recommend that if you need to attend your classes ONLINE- that move on to another college if you wish to learn anything. I hear that ON CAMPUS classes are pretty decent. Best of luck in whatever institution you select!"

"The online program has lots of confusion. It is so hard to follow the instructions. I am so struggling for weekly assignment. You cannot find help from the department. Professor Mona did not very help for online students. She is unprofessional. Think before you take this professor."

"I love SNHU the professors were great and very involved in the course. The work is challenging but requires self motivation. They offer internships with large companies. I had no problems with admissions the counselors were great at telling me what to expect, my advisor was in contact with me every semester. All in all I was pleased I have several friends that attend their now and seem to like it and haven't had any issues. I was surprised to read the negative reviews but i guess if you have a bad experience you want to complain to some one"

"I entered for this scholarship because I do plan on following up my Bachelor's Degree with a Master's. So far, Southern New Hampshire University is fantastic and more than I expected out of college. I have multiple post secondary school experiences with two technical diplomas and 2 years of college right out of high school and SNHU so far is the best college experience of them all. The professors answer you in a timely manner. They have too, its in their policy. They're also very helpful. The courses are difficult and challenging, but not to the point where it feels impossible. The workload is perfect. It's not too little to where you feel like you're not really getting an education and its not so much that you feel overwhelmed. They also transferred about 50 of my previous credits, making me feel like my previous schooling wasn't a complete waste of time and student loan money. I will have my degree in less than two years and I'm very excited about that. Lastly, I want to praise the student adviser staff. My student adviser calls me a few times each term to check up on me and ask me how I'm doing and how I'm feeling about the courses I'm in. I've never experienced that level of care at any previous institution. SNHU really makes you feel like they care about you as a student and about your success. Going to school here was one of the best decisions I've ever made."

"I really really love this school and this program! I have been through two different degree programs prior to coming to SNHU but nothing seem to fit MY schedule as well as support my finance needs, until I came here. I must admit, you will have some sleepless nights and weekends but communication with professors make it easier to complete class assignments. I would definitely recommend this program, as a single mother, working full time as well as a second job, I was still able to manage my time / assignments, graduating June 2017."

"I am currently a senior in the Human Services program with SNHU Online. There are good and bad things about this school, but that's any school you go to honestly. Good: The professors I have had have ALWAYS responded to e-mails in a timely manner, and they answer any questions I have. The advisors are amazing. My advisor answers me right away, and she is my biggest supporter! I love the set-up of the classes. You have what they call milestones, which are typically 3-4 page papers on a topic. You build up to your final paper through the milestones and receive feedback throughout the time. Now that I am in mainly 300-Level courses, I've found that there are usually 3 milestones leading to the final paper, an interview with someone in your field, a short paper, and a journal you write about a course topic. The work is challenging, but it's not impossible. Cons: Financial aid can be an absolute pain. I had to talk to a supervisor multiple times to get my paperwork re-evaluated/turned in. They do eventually fix the issues you have, but it can take some time to get there. I've also run into some issues with the rubrics/syllabi being a bit outdated. Since the professors do not make the syllabi, sometimes they are not sure of what is wanted from the assignment. The wording is a little bit rough on some of the assignments, but reaching out to your professor definitely helps! All in all, the school is what you make it. There will be bad professors that you have and there will also be good ones. Some classes are simple, whereas the other class you take that term may have 10 or more assignments with discussion posts each week. I feel that I have received a good education from the program, better than what I got from my local community college. If you learn best by writing papers, completing projects, and having discussions with other students, SNHU Online is a good school for you. If you learn best with lectures and exams, it may not be the best for you."

"The course instructions in ALL of the courses in 9 terms I've taken is horrible. There are errors and missing information that continually require clarification. The online program only has facilitators - not instructors and certainly not teachers - only people who regurgitate what is handed to them. Some of them have clearly not even read the course content. In inquiry after inquiry about gaps, omissions, and jumble instructions, responses are met with comments along the lines of - I didn't put it together - there's nothing I can do - do the best you can - and other ridiculous answers. This experience should have been a pleasant and easy one (for me), but it was made quite uncomfortable and MUCH more difficult than it should have been due to the extra work required of me."

"Southern New Hampshire University is an accredited, private and not-for-profit University that provides a wealth of opportunity for a wide variety of students. Their instructors are professional, knowledgeable and easily accessible. The instructors are also engaged with their students and can usually give real world insight into numerous topics, especially in the Criminal Justice field. The Justice Studies program at SNHU, specifically, is very valuable to students pursuing a career in law enforcement or the legal system. Many of the courses are research based but very much entrenched in current events around the globe. Students in this program will gain vast knowledge of the inner workings in the Criminal Justice system. I would recommend Southern New Hampshire University for anyone seeking to gain more real world knowledge of the subjects they are passionate about. As a Veteran and a member of the Law Enforcement community, I believe that Southern New Hampshire University is the best choice, not only for the quality of the Justice Studies program, but for the school itself. They care about working adults with families and careers who are pursuing their higher education goals."
