Jannon Wray was my Admissions Advisor, and did a phenomenal job at assisting me on getting ready and into St Catherine’s University!! I am so beyond Thankful that I had her to help guide me thru the process! She was patient and so very helpful! I can attest to all the reviews on here for the online OTA program with the lack of support, miscommunication (or lack of communication), the nonsensical academic advisors that cannot actually help with anything (who I swear just read from a script, much like tellamarketers), the outrageous tuition fees, the ridiculous in-person lab requirements, and the field placement chaos. It clearly states in their policy that we are to be placed no latter than 6 weeks prior to our start of interning, yet they... Read More didn’t place me until 2 weeks before I was to start. Then they told us that we are NOT to contact our placement sites, but then they told us (hush hush, mind you) to do what we can to locate placement sites to help out the placement site coordinators. I wish I had read the reviews before starting at this university because it was a certified waste of time and waste of money. Don’t do it if you have the chance. By the time I realized how ridiculous this program and university was, it was too late to withdraw. I have a bachelors in health science (aka premed), and yet they made me take classes I had already completed. Waste. Waste. Waste.

I am so disenfranchised by this school. I have been in college before this, with a previous science degree. The professors not teaching in the program were wonderful, but once you get into the nursing program, it was an awful experience. I have never been treated with such disinterest as how the administration treated even the most reasonable of questions. So many rules exist with no logic behind them. They are a fledging program that seems to have just purchased power points from a preestablished... Read More curriculum. We taught ourselves. Tests did not match information taught, and information taught was not essential to the degree. I am not prepared to be a nurse. I got my degree and ran. I will be learning on the job, and am furious that a program that states it is holistic would not listen to students. I was lied to from the beginning.

I am weeks away from my fieldwork 2 placement and have not heard from my fieldwork coordinator. People in my cohort have been advised to contact their own fieldwork placement. Even after being advised NOT to do so by the same fieldwork coordinator who is telling us to do it now. I am beyond satisfied by the school's lack of support and the ability to create connections with locations located in CA. We are paying for fieldwork coordinators to look for locations for our placements but if they are having... Read More us look for our own place. I think a refund for those charges should be in order.

Please be aware of this school. It is very expensive and offers little in return. Professor support is lacking and there were times, I was graded on material that was not even taught yet. Self-learning through YouTube is how I spent most of my time. I have a B.S. degree and thoroughly love the field of occupational therapy, when entering this school my excitement was quickly doused and soon realized a love of the field and the love of learning did not fuel this school. I was in too far to quit, so I am writing this review to hopefully save someone else the time and money that I now cannot. I strongly urge you to look at all options and, if possible, avoid St. Catherine's. If looking for a degree in OT, look for a school that leads by example for the love of the field and one that wants to produce the best OT practitioners out there! It is still a wonderful field and to ensure you are able to be the very best and highly educated in your craft do not participate in St. Catherine's scam.

Be aware if you plan to attend this university's Online Occupational Therapy Assistant AA. Very little support outside of a few professors. Their were several tech issues. My "success coach" did not follow the lines of being exemplary with support, etc. I did very well with my courses until the OTA semester began, which lasted seven weeks. One student mentioned that she thought this program was horrible and stated that in her final evaluation of OTA semester 1. An example was I attempted to open a lab manual to bring to Lab II, and could not open it until I complained, and then the day after the assignment was due it opened.There were some professors who I admired, but be aware of entering this university's OTA AA. I thought I had done proper research, but I now feel like I was scammed. I was supposed to graduate in 2019, but I am no longer at this university. FYI - I have two BS degrees. One in Computer Science and the other in Business Management from two other institutions.

I've only finished my first semester at St. Catherine University (Saint Paul, MN), but the expectations of the faculty in the MLIS program and the program itself are not only lofty, but with a will to succeed and a desire to elevate your own goals and expectations, easily achievable.
