"I will start with the fact that it has been a few years since I graduated and I am assuming improvements have been made. The purpose of the educational process at JMLS is no different than other law schools - to provide you with fundamentals. JMLS and other law schools do not provide you training on what it takes to actually practice law. At the time I attended financial aid discussions were on how much money do you want to borrow and excluding any discussion or assistance with respect to scholarships and grants. JMLS offered a rigorous education and was not at easy to graduate from as other law schools in the Chicago area. The overwhelming majority of teachers did truly care about the students."

"The John Marshall law school has an excellent network, particularly in the City of Chicago. They have a top tier writing program, which sets us a part from other law schools. A definite con is that they could work on providing more scholarship opportunities for their students, and attempt to create more of a supportive environment for evening students."

"I just completed John Marshall's SCALES summer program for incoming 1Ls. It was a phenomenal program that really has made me feel prepared for law school. Coming from a pre-law undergraduate experience, I had knowledge on the basics of writing briefs, reading cases/case law, and legal writing. However, I feel this program really improved and enhanced my legal abilities, and has set me up for success for my first year of law school, which starts in less than a month. The professors were all readily available, responding to emails at a reasonable time and offering a wide range of office hours. They all gave great constructive feedback on assignments that assisted in improving the next written assignment. The only issue I have with the school is that they do not offer any type of housing; living in Chicago can be expensive, and public transportation can be a hassle."

"The professors and staff really take the time to make sure we are aware of who to go to for certain problems we may be having and really seem to care about your overall success as a student there. The cons are the quickness of classes filling up at registration."

"John Marshall offers a complete law curriculum with plenty of variety to suit your interests. It also provides a small-school type of personal support both by the faculty and the administration. The student body is fabulously diverse, supportive and fun. There is just enough competition to keep you striving to reach your best efforts.The school has a great network throughout Chicago, enabling students to have great practical experiences as they learn. Overall, I am very happy with my choice to attend John Marshall and plan on staying connected with the school in the future."
