The University of Arizona Global Campus Reviews of Bachelor's in English

I am 3 courses in and utilizing my work tuition benefits and grants. For this part I can be really great ful as I am not paying anything out of pocket. My first and second courses, which I found to be obnoxiously pointless but not difficult were learning how to learn and learning about buying a computer and online safety etc....while there were some interesting things, I felt like they were a waste of time. The instructors were at least engaging and prompt with feedback, grades, and responses to... Read More inquiries. I got to my third course and the experience has been completely different. Not only does my instructor procrastinate in getting back to me, she fails to provide grades and feedback in time for the following weeks assignments so you are unable to verify you are doing things correctly. When I email the instructor my concerns they are either ignored or only certain. Aspects are addressed, anything that is critical of her methods is glossed over. I had issues from the first week and tried to transfer to a different instructor as I felt that I was being disrespected and treated like I did not matter. Rather than acknowledge that she dropped the ball she suggested I did not email her. I expressed my dissatisfaction in the classroom after additional issues and submitted an instructor issue report. Not even four hours after submitting my instructor issues report, the instructor emailed me in retaliation and said that she had concerns about my conduct and professionalism which she was forwarding to to my acedemic advisor and her supervisor as my behavior was threatening. Needless to say it was not and my advisor confirmed that, but public displays of being dissatisfied with your instructor are not allowed. The stress and frustration that this has caused makes me not want to continue. I am a wife and mom with a full-time job and health issues of my own and caring for my disabled parent and I have more than enough stress in my life and an instructor with a good complex and a demand for respect without warning it is not something I need in my life.

I took one course at this university; a bs course in "how to learn". I am three classes away from completing my degree from years ago, I do not need a class in how to learn. What a crock! Also, I wasn't told how much the class would cost or how many credits it was. I had to take out a loan, even though I didn't want to, just to complete registration. Imagine my shock to discover that this bs course cost $1400. My loan paid for $1175, leaving me a balance of $289. They never told me and these fools... Read More sent me to COLLECTIONS!!! I'll pay the $289 ASAP and slam the door on Ashford University. My advice: attend at your own risk!

I am shocked by all the negative reviews here. What school did these individuals go to? It definitely wasn't Ashford. I received my degree back in 2012 and I landed a great job because of it. In fact, I am so happy with my original experience that I am actually going back to finish my MBA. I had started going to Northeastern University (and did really well there), but I was treated horribly after a family emergency. Faculty and staff members were reachable almost any time of day (try getting hold of your instructor at a brick and mortar school) and they were genuine with their support and help. I know Ashford has had some negative publicity in the past, but they are definitely on the right track and will most likely surpass most other online programs if they keep up the good work. Ashford is by far one of the cheapest institutions out there (look it up) and they are regionally accredited among other certifications (I don't know why I keep seeing postings about Ashford not being accredited?). The only problem I see with Ashford is that they aren't as selective as they could be. I believe most of the negative reviews come from individuals who probably shouldn't be going to school in the first place. Going back to school is a big decision as well as a time-consuming one. It isn't easy either. People who think Ashford is a "diploma mill" or that they will somehow get their degree with little to no effort are gravely mistaken and it will show when push comes to shove. If I've learned anything in life, it's that you have to put effort into things that you want. Nice houses, fancy cars, great jobs, and shiny diplomas don't just fall into your lap if you're one of the less fortunate types--they're all earned. Let me say that again...they are EARNED! Stop griping, stop complaining, and start using some good old-fashioned elbow grease and work ethic to get to where you want to be. And why? Because, if you don't, there are millions of other human beings out there that will be more than happy to get a degree and take that nice job you want while you're sitting around hoping a degree falls in your lap by accident. There are no accidents in life when you're in control of the outcomes. Ashford is a great school and the degree is legit. Highly recommended!

I had a fine experience with Ashford. I had attended community college previously and most of my credits transferred. I had also took a financial certification test through my job and was able to receive transfer credit for it as well. Ashford was beneficial for me because it allowed me to complete schooling while continuing to work. I actually wanted to attend a traditional on campus school but many of their classes are daytime and are designed for the "traditional" college student. I guess I could... Read More say that I was born during the right time because this option wasn't always available. The classes challenged me. I think like with anything you get out of it what you put into it. It takes self discipline. I had taken a hybrid online course at community college so this wasn't my first experience with distance learning. As far as degree credibility I have not had any problems. I applied for classified jobs with the school system. Some positions required college credits or verification of a degree. I submitted transcripts and it was fine. In instances where the pay was more for a bachelors I received more. I worked in 4 different districts. I also was accepted into an alternative teacher certification program with this degree. So for me I have not had any problems with the degree being accepted.
