The University of Arizona Global Campus Reviews of Bachelor's in Healthcare Administration

To describe my experience at UAGC, I first have to start in 2019 when the school was known as Ashford University. I was only 19 and didn't know much about college, I was truly only interested in the proper accreditation as well as getting my degree in a timely manner. The five week classes are truly unbeatable. Read More hear about advisors and the schools issues are somewhat true. Keeping an eye out on your degree progress is super important because classes can be dropped, or credits can appear and disappear over night. This can be very frustrating, for example, with only 16 credits left for my BA I was suddenly showing 1 unscheduled credit that had never appeared before. I contacted advisors, and apparenty my military credits all of a sudden were missing ONE credit. I took a sophia class, (80$), and was able to fix it quickly. But being so close to graduation and all of a sudden having a missing credit was frustrating, both mentally, emotionally and financially. This is just one issue that has happened with scheduling, classes drop and get rescheduled all of the time and most times students are not given warning. This has been my biggest issue, as well as certain advisors being unhelpful or having attitude. Being military I did not use my own money for this degree. This was why I didn't mind any financial issues, this might be a bigger issue for someone who pays for there own college. That being said, it is an easy way to get a bachelors degree after obtaining your CCAF and after you get your bachelors degree you can always transfer to another school for your masters because UAGC is accredited. With a good GPA, you'll be able to transfer. I am looking at the MBA program at UAGC now, it is IACBE accredited and I can complete it in one year. Again, I won't be paying for it and the classes are only 6 weeks long so I could of course have a different experience. But the accredited programs, as well as my 6-7 years work experience, I will be prepared for the civilian world. I would just do your research on all of the programs and see which are accredited by the proper institutions. This is important, and a new college student may not know this. The healthcare admin degree is accredited as a whole with the school, but not by specific healthcare admin accrediting agencies. While the MBA is accredited with the school, as well as IACBE. Everyones experience is different, but overall I would rate this school as not bad. I have also only done online school.

I truly enjoy my education with the school, but now that it is coming to an end (I graduate 12/21/2020), I have been informed by the financial aid department that I owe $537.88 out of pocket (which includes graduation fee - which is fine). Mind you even though you may have received a loan, you do not receive any money from those loans, they go straight to your tuition (which again is fine). I am an (A -B+) student, have done well throughout my whole school year have not had an academic problem that... Read More would cause a problem with my financial Aid. I noticed throughout my time with Ashford that my financial aid account kept being adjusted, classed added that didn't start till months later, classes added that I had already taken. My awards letter disbursement amounts kept switching. I really took the cake because I had an amount of $1933.88 (which included fees for my last class and a balance), I was fine because I knew I had a disbursement coming on 12/01/20 for over $4000.00 that could cover the amount. Well low and behold three days later, I look at my account and see that a refund for Dirsub of $681.00 and a refund for Dirunsub in the amount of 866.00 was added to my account the total to $3480.88. I immediately contact FA and was informed that a refund had to be made because my credits were reduced due to me graduating this month and not February 2021, but my disbursement would cover the balance fine fine fine. Three days later low and behold I receive another awards letter showing my disbursement amount has been reducing and will not cover the balance, leaving me to have to pay $500 and something dollars out of pocket. I am very upset with the lack of communication between the FA staff and students......They need to do better, by keeping students aware of changes and not waiting until the last minute or before graduation.

This school is awful! Let just start by stressing the cost for credits! They are a rip off.... I am paying half the cost at another university for better education. They act like they care yet every time I called regarding my back financial aide they said I wasn’t able to get it because I owed 1300 for failing a class which is fine but they charged me and took that from my credit refund so it didn’t make any sense why I still had a balance. So they sent it to collections and I withdrew from the university... Read More immediately. It’s rather upsetting that I pid $300 on this bill just to find out that they had no intentions on reimbursing it in the first place like they ensured me that they would. Anyways it’s a confusing story but the moral of the story is they took 300 from pocket plus they kept 1300 out of my credit refund. And on top of that sent a bill to collections stating that I owed them 1300!!!!!! Sad excuse for a school and shame shame shame for ripping off people like that!

This school only cares about how money they can extort from the students and do not care about your education. When I first started aside from the financial aid being a complete mess and no support form the financial aid department. Then I started taking their classes, and everything was great, and then I started to run into one teacher after another that hardly reply to questions and when they do they are rude and spiteful and sarcastic. I have found that they tend to give you a bad degree, so you... Read More have to re-take classes, so you have to spend more money for classes. The advisors are inconsistent and do not have your best interest at heart to guide you in the right direction. I had a 4.0 GPA, and the required classes are done, and my advisor refused to allow me to apply to honors college. As you get closer to graduating they require you to pay thousands of dollars to graduate or to transfer your transcripts. The mentality is here is your book, and your assignments figure it out. Which is fine with me but then when I get publicly ridiculed in discussion with my peers for not doing it right, I grow tired of the abuse and feel that there are so many other colleges out there that take much better care of their students. They do not care about the students they only care about money and how much they can extort out of students while allowing their teachers to grade on personal feelings and not on merit of work.

The reason why I am sharing this negative review is because one instructor, Dr. G, and Associate Director of Academic Intergity, had absolutely no concern for the integrity of my grade in a course. Their online system, Waypoint, had been faulty to accept my class submission and absolutely no one assisted me in finding a solution to the error. I submitted hard evidence that I eagerly attempted many times to submit the assignment, but Waypoint would not accept it on my computer or other public computers.... Read More To ensure that I turned my final assignment in on time, I found an alternative by inboxing Dr. G. the FULL file of my assignment. She did not want to grade my assignment because it was not turned into Waypoint "on time", when the entire issue at hand WAS WAYPOINT! IT WOULD NOT ACCEPT THE ASSIGNMENT...Then, I took the problem to appeals. The Director, came up with the conclusion on behalf of the entire University and said that he regrets to inform me that they will not be considering my case. He said that my computer had a virus and that it was for personal reasons that I did not get my assignment in.... As a straight A and B student in the class, I presented the question to Dr. G. and Mr. M. because neither one of them attempted to assist me with the problem concerning Waypoint (they have not even responded with a cause of ths reason why my assignment wasn't submitting): "Lastly, my question to you and Dr. G. would be, why would I complete an assignment and attempt to turn it in on time via email and not want to turn it into Waypoint for an acceptable grade, knowing that I am a straight A and B student?!".... Sadly enough, my experience has been ruined at Ashford, and until the day I graduate, my surveys and reviews will remain FLAMBOYANTLY NEGATIVE in remembrance of this infamous and grievous time. I hope that you don't have to experience what I have. PS: Once again, I still have not received an explanation why Waypoint has not been accepting my assignments, and why it has been faulty. I guess that they are going to sweep it under the rug.

I had both good and bad experiences with Ashford University. In order to make it through classes you must apply yourself. I failed an Algebra two class and had to pay out of pocket! Yes, they had the funds I borrowed already allocated! The online tutoring was not helpful at all so be prepared to pay out of pocket for help; especially if you have not had math in quite some time or are weak in Math! I dislike the constant emails and phone calls about Ashford's Masters program? My enrollment advisor moved on and I was given two more advisors; one of which was never available. I don't understand why so many advisors and for the most part; don't seem genuinely interested if you're having personal issues! They tend to answer you with words like; "Huh, aww, that's great and perfect"! Online is an improvement to brick and mortar and as a non-traditional student this made studying by myself and for myself memorable.

Ashford University has good instructors and teaching materials. But when it comes to finances the school is very terrible. The business office and some students advisors are very misleading. I have had some many lies and misinformation about finances and finacialaid which put me into debt. I have two courses left to complete my BA in Health and Human Services with specialization in Healthcare Informatics. At the beginning of my second to the last course they said I am owing and they withdrew my classes.... Read More I am trying to get money to pay and complete my balance courses and graduate with my degree. I DO NOT THINK I WILL EVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO THIS SCHOOL.

Ashford University made returning to school less of a hassle being a single mother as well as working full time. The staff and Professor that I had dealt with on a daily basis throughout my education were always understand of personal circumstances that would arise due to my sons health. In addition, they are fast at responding to email and phone calls regarding my education and always willing to help the best way that they could. I was all for Ashford the advisor was amazing. They help and explained everything great. I felt very comfortable with going to school here I was enrolled and going to classes online, very easy, self explained. Enjoyed the program !!.....until life unexpected happened and I felt that it wasn't the best time to continue with school for the time being. Everything change at that point! I was told I was a quitter, a drop out and that I was running away. It went from guidance and helpfulness to being bullied... Read More into staying enrolled. I was literally in tears arguing with someone about me staying in school, I was made felt like I was doing the worst thing possible by taking step back from school. That one moment changed my experience. I have talked with other people with ashford and they were understanding and apologetic to my situation. I even talked to a counselor to make sure my decision was the best and there wasn't other options. Very helpfully. I cannot say weather ashford is a good or bad school to attend, I enjoyed the online setup of the class and the instructor that I had but My one situation tho changed my view on going back when time permits.

I did learn a lot at Ashford. It was perfect for my schedule and it allowed me to obtain a degree while working two jobs. It definitely requires dedication and the ability to be a self-starter. You do not get a lot of breaks along the way either, but it is nice to only have to concentrate on one class at a time. I would highly recommend this school for those who are looking for a way to get their degree while working or caring for children and for those who are dedicated and willing to put in the... I recently completed my Bachelor's in Health Care Administration. When I first started at Ashford, I was so excited and I was receiving calls every other day from the staff (financial advisors, student advisor, etc) to ensure my experience with the online courses. After about 2, maybe 3 months, I didn't receive any calls and it was hard to contact staff when you had a problem with online classes, financial aid, etc. I had to repeat two classes and now I have to pay out pocket for financial aid being... Read More disbursed before my VA benefits had a chance to post. I was so excited that I graduated because this school sucks and I wouldn't recommend that anyone go to this school for any degree. They don't reach out to you to see if you adapting to online courses or any changes that may have occurred that you were unaware of. Some of the instructors grade differently from others, so don't be surprised if you fail a course and after you retake the course you pass with a higher grade. I'm glad that I kept pushing myself because there were many times where I wanted to quit, but since I've graduated, I can honestly say that my Ashford experience sucked!!!!!! Do yourself a favor and enroll with another school. (Some people have different experiences than others, but if you are just starting at Ashford, it will be good for a few months, but after that, look forward to the lack of professionalism when it comes to any problems you may have).

Overall I was happy with my experience. I didn't like the fact that I completed the requirements but lacked just a few credits therefore I had to "find" one more class to take. The way the courses are set allows you to work, be a parent or volunteers and still have time for school. You MUST be very disciplined and committed to achieve in order to be successful.
