The University of Arizona Global Campus Reviews of Bachelor's in Management

While the instruction was very good, we were not told we needed to secure our own internship to get a job with that degree. Since the onsite campus in Clinton, Iowa closed, I have tutored several students via the online company who bought the name "Ashford University." It is not the same school, and I can't recommend the current inception. As an active duty military member, I've hoped around with schools trying to figure what suits me best. I originally started with University of Phoenix but hated the "team" assignments. Then I went to Waldorf University, which I loved, but decided to switch my major to a program they did not have. I also wanted to have shorter classes so I could utilize my Tuition Assistance more and fit in more classes throughout the year. Ashford University seemed to have everything I needed. They give military grants to those who have served (or are currently serving) by giving a discounted price for classes, as well as free textbooks and waiving technology fees. It's also nice that many of the required textbooks are online, which you can access using the Constellation app, so you can read them anywhere, anytime. They also have the Ashford app so you can write discussion responses on the go as well, or check your grades. It's the most convenient thing I've experienced so far! I also love that the classes are only five weeks long. Although they're extremely fast paced, it's nice because you only take one class at a time so you can focus solely on that one class and not have to toggle between other classes. Classes are generally back to back unless you request a break with your student advisor (up to two week breaks). I haven't taken many classes with this school, but like any other school, some classes are much harder than others, and some teachers are not as involved as others. They all follow the same schedule though (school week starts on a Tuesday and ends on a Monday) so you have an idea of when you're supposed to turn things in for every class which allows you to create a consistent schedule that works best for you. Since attending this school, I must say it has been my favorite school so far! I have learned much more than any other school but I've also done a lot more work. Overall, I absolutely recommend this school to anyone looking to further their education. I will say, that the only negative things I've experienced are the way they transfer credits (they wait until after your first class to do this) and I did end up losing quite a few credits because of their requirements. I also dislike that they've changed my Academic Advisor three times already within the four months of being with this school (although they've all been very helpful).

In the Army, so I've moved around quite a bit. If you're not a full-time student then it will take you a while to graduate from any school. I've attended several major universities due to moving around every few years. When you actually attend traditional classes, you get lectures and are able to ask questions when needed. In the online program at Ashford, I was forced to actually read and do work every week. When I was going to traditional schools, I would just listen to lectures and skim through... Read More the book and still pass my classes. Some classes seemed like the only thing you did was listen to the professor give his or her lecture, take a quiz, mid term, and final. However, at Ashford, if you are not engaged in your course work, it will be a struggle. P.S. People will criticize anything if they were unsuccessful in their experience. You get out what you put in.

I attended Ashford for 7 years and never ran into any real problems. I have had advisors that would change my classes as I needed to so I could receive my Associates from CCAF first. I've heard several stories about pushy recruiters but I only dealt with one in that entire time frame and my advice on that is that you are a grown up so you don't have to let anyone push you into doing anything you're not sure about. I have wanted to complete my college degree for years but always had excuses as to why I couldn't. I enrolled and attended two other colleges before Ashford. Both of those colleges were brick and mortar schools and I always ended up quitting because I just did not want to spend hours sitting in a classroom and the classes always seemed to be at inconvenient times. Online classes are not for everyone. It might seem like this would be an easy way to get a degree but believe me, it is not. The instructors expect participation and critical thinking in every aspect of the classroom and the five week courses can at times be overwhelming because there is so much to do in such a short time. Several of my friends are pursuing their degree at the local college in my area and when I tell them the amount of classwork, quizzes, and papers I am required to write, they are surprised. I think this is because this is the only way the instructor can really judge whether the student is understanding the material. Each person has to decide for themselves if this will work or not, but for me it has been the only way to finally accomplish my goal of getting a degree. For anyone who is considering Ashford University's online program, keep in mind that the instructors are not there to GIVE you a degree, you have to earn it. This means there will be times when they will expect a lot of you and you will have to make sacrifices of your time to be sure to give your assignments your all. I am sure, like with any school, there are instructors who are tougher than others but I have found that while some instructors have been very demanding, they are all fair. Everyone's situation is different so if you are having problems, email the instructor one on one, and get clarification, extra attention, or whatever is needed. Finally, be proud of your accomplishments. Do not let others try to make you feel like getting an online degree is "less" than getting one from a brick and mortar classroom. As many of my friends have told me, they would not have been able to do the amount of work I have done to get my degree. I am looking to graduate soon and am very proud to be finally reaching my goal.

I attended Ashford for 3.5 years and received my BBA. I noticed in reading one of the other reviews that it was stated that Ashford was a sham, but it is far from being a sham. First of all, as soon as I graduated the company I work for started noticing me. I am not going to post publicly all the good that came my way since I graduated, but it has really given me the edge I need. Read More received less than a B and that was only when I did not give it my all. Most of the time, if I turned in the work on time, I got an A. The grades are not given to you, they are earned. If you are trying to go to Ashford thinking you can pay the tuition and the grade will be given to you, you’re wrong. It’s all about what you put into it. Besides, I would not want to go to a school that just gave good grades out without them being earned; it would put the validity of my degree in question. By the way, I’m dyslexic, with 5 kids, a wife, and a very demanding job so getting my degree would be harder then for most, so stop whining about my school and trying to lessen my degree by calling it a sham.
