"The School Of Education is TERRIBLE! Avoid it at all cost!!! They run it more like a bootcamp to flush out people than a environment of encouragement. One Professor is so terrible at teaching a Special Education class that 20 students are filing a grievance and he has been complained about FOR YEARS and they keep him around even though he was suppose to retire in 2013. Professors do not care about you. They will scold you over the littlest things and the political drama of the department is ridiculous. The amount of anxiety in the students in this program is CONCERNING. SOE has NOT received a TEA reward status since 2017!!! They need a overhaul and several professors to be changed. The advisor is unprofessional and will use cell phone to contact you then report you if you call her back or text her. If you are going for a EC-12 certification DO NOT GO HERE.. They support only the core curriculum and discriminate against Music and Art. Too many friends were treated unjustly by them. NO ONE USES THEIR LESSON PLAN RUBRIC they force you to write with INSANE detail. SFA IS MUCH BETTER!!! Then having to pay for the Anxiety meds needed to survive this program. They will retaliate if you file a grievance against anyone. They watch out for themselves.. They do NOT care about you or your classmates. RUN FROM THIS PROGRAM."

"The cost and the flexibility of the courses are extremely over stated. You will not be able to complete the program for less than $15000 even though it states $9361. You also cannot take the courses when you are ready. They apparently don't have enough instructors so the classes aren't available every semester. The price and time to complete the degree are very misleading."

"My experience so far here at UT Tyler has been amazing. The Master's program here is top notch because it is tailored to give you the required theoretical and practical knowledge of what happens in the real world. Also, the weekly assignments and projects are quite challenging but it enables me to think outside the box for solutions. In Summary this program prepares you fully for the work life after school."

"I enjoyed the feel of the campus. The city is small, but with a good amount of stuff to do. The college has been growing with more and more communities to get involved with. The professors are very kind and care about their students. Aside from some of the large core classes, the classes have a small number of students so you can get to know the professors well. They also offer a good amount of online classes, which helps for commuters or people that work a lot as well."

"I just can't explain how lover this school is. Gave me a leg up when i needed it most, the school os affordable and is located in a serene part of texas, perfect place for study, not so much for party, but the city of tyler does host quite interesting events every fall and winter for entertainment. the school events centre is one of the best in the state"

"I returned to college after working as an RN over a decade. I chose UT Tyler for the online platform and affordable cost. I greatly enjoyed the 100% online RN-BSN program!! Canvas was a breeze to use and the classes were well organized and the instructors were very knowledgeable and kept students informed. I loved my experience so much that I’m now in graduate school at UT Tyler. Good possibility I’ll look to fulfill my degree at the doctorate level as well, the instructors are just that fanatastic!"

"This is a very lovely school. I completely enjoyed my time here. The city may be a bit quiet but its been growing, and offers the perfect environment for quiet study. I love the math department in this school, the professors and standards of teaching are very good in that department, class sizes are adequately small, less than 15 in most engineering departments. Tuition is also very affordable."

"What I learned at UT Tyler: Don't question professors on anything, even if your points are valid and substantiated by evidence; they will retaliate. Don't trust professors when they inquire about you personally; this will be warped and come back to bite you. Email sparingly with professors Do not expect professors to see you for who you are In certain departments, expect to be pathologized if you are not perfect Don't expect to be guided and taught; most of what you learn will be self-directed."

"You know there's something wrong when they've taken down Google reviews for their own university. This university is slightly worse than mediocre. Pros: - Make good friends - There are a decent of amount of good professors I had. - Free writing center to peer review your stuff. - Free tutoring for commonly difficult classes (i.e. Calculus, Physics, etc.) - Pretty nice selection of restaurants near the school. - I heard the nursing program is really nice. - More printing credits than you could ever need. - Pretty diverse campus. - THE Jerry Seinfeld comes once a year, which is pretty neat. - Mediocre gym. It's not bad but there needs to be more water fountains. - Library is pretty nice with their selection of books, study rooms, and chalk boards to write things on. Good place to hang out and study. Also has free coffee! Things get a little antsy once finals week comes, however. Cons: - Financial aid is a nightmare every semester. - Good luck finding a parking space. - Some annoying professors with their political opinions (both liberal and conservative) - The worst cafeteria food that's so bad, it makes you miss your mother's cooking. - Sports teams? Who cares? Not enough notification for home games. - Computer science department is terrible. Engineering departments are falling apart. I was an electrical engineering student. They got rid of everyone's favorite all because of... lack of research funds? Seriously? - TI's usually are just bad. Every lab class you have, they are little help. - Scandalous Greek Life chapters that appeared on the news for blackmail, rape, and sexual misconduct. - Scandalous registrar that appeared on the news for promising foreign students a full ride scholarship to then take that away from them even after some have already gotten a visa to come to school in the US. - Class evaluations that aren't probably taken too seriously. - School events? Who cares? Not enough promotion for school events. - School is completely empty on the weekends. - On campus living causes your tuition to essentially double. - Do not use the book store. It's terrible. School supplies and textbooks are extremely expensive. - Mediocre job fairs where there's probably only one company that everyone wants to work for but who cares about the rest of the companies that show up? - Houston engineering campus is pretty pathetic (I took a few classes there) - Tuition probably gets more expensive every year even though nothing changes. - There's probably a bomb threat once a year. It's annoying. - One class on side of the campus and your next class in 10 minutes could be on the other side of the campus. Better run fast! - EXTREMELY inflexible class scheduling forcing you choose times that you don't want to do along with terrible professors. My first semester of college had Calculus every day at 8AM and there was no other time that I could take it. - Elevators break frequently forcing you to climb all of the stairs in RBN. - Parties tend to serve kids under 21 some alcohol? I guess the UT Tyler Police doesn't care about what goes on in frat parties. - Greek life? Who cares? No one talks about that stuff. - LOUD SIREN TESTING DURING YOUR EXAMS! Seriously?! - That clock tower's bells are always skipping notes with some of the songs it plays. - School spirit? What's that? I didn't even know our school had its own alma mater song."

"I have had the most amazing school experience at UT Tyler. I love how the faculty advisors and everybody around is so supportive, flexible and willing to listen to you. Besides, being an international student, I always had a perception that the transition is going to be very difficult. However, everybody here made me feel like home away from home. The learning experience was great too. They have a variety of resources for students which helps us excel in our academics too."

"I will not recommend this University if you are looking for any kind of scholarship. They give you scholarship and later on tell you a different story. Their returning student scholarship is split between two semesters. However, they tell you that you that they cannot apply the whole scholarship amount to one semester just because you are graduating after one semester. I repeat stay away from this University if you are looking for scholarship."

"The school is a wise financial choice. The town is approachable; not intimidating in the least. The campus is beautiful with ponds, and plenty of trees. There are also turtles and ducks around. If you do have any administrative issue, the campus is so small that you can easy get the issue handled on a personal level. If you treat your concerns like they are your own responsibility to resolve, you will not get lost in the shuffle here."
