"The Clinical Laboratory Sciences program offered a UTRGV is a rigorous 15 month program that prepares you for the field in many aspects. This program is very well organized, it is a small class in which students receive a good education on each subject. The students have professors available at all times. Also, rotations in clinical setting are included in the last 6 months, which help you understand more in depth, practice and prepare you for the real working environment."

"If you are overseas I will suggest not to enroll in this school. I am in Germany and the connection here in this country is less than expected. Ordering your books take for ever, you can call the school and request the name of the book so that you can buy it much earlier but the book title is giving too late even if you contact the instructor one in particular that seemed not to care. No opportunity to re submit, no consideration at all. I worked on my assignment for 5 days. I submitted my assignment 4 days prior to the deadline come to find out never received any email from the school to inform me that the submission did not go thru in fact, it showed as if it did . The employees are nice but the system need improve on their online program and a positive attitude from some of the faculties. When you call for any issue they send you everywhere!"

"The University of Texas - Rio Grande Valley is part of a system of different colleges that got together to form this University. I graduated from one of these colleges in 2014, the school was formerly know as the University of Texas at Brownsville. I graduated with a Bachelors in Accounting and took most of its classes in campus. I have to say my upper level courses were challenging but at the same time enjoyable, The campus and its installations are very accommodating to its students offers job expos for future accounting jobs around the local area and in government. Currently I'm pursuing an MBA from the same school, and now that they're offering a masters in Accounting that is my next goal. the University is growing and it's also accredited. I would definitely check into to for the other degree it offers too."

"Everyone is really kind but no one can do anything because only one person handles a matter. So if that person is on vacation or not there you don't have any help. I enrolled in January, and by April my financial aid did not process and I was taken out of the program although I have purchased my books. Something is missing. They don't have the sense of urgency... commitment. And it is strange that the Library did not have the books for online students. I think they may need to design their online programs in a more efficient manner. Too many delays, waiting for one person to do it all. Waist of time and money."

"I would definitely recommend The University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley's M.Ed. in Guidance & Counseling program. They have wise and caring professors. The coursework is rigorous but equips you with the knowledge and experience needed to become a Licensed Professional Counselor or Certified School Counselor."
I still want to attend school

"I had high hopes for this graduate program. I spoke with several students and my adviser but feel like I was lied to about the potential to the new program. I wouldn't really classify it as a research program. Just because you have the tools does not mean you know how to use them. The university went on academic probation while I was there and I was able to see why. The graduate courses were not challenging enough for me to learn anything, this is after me having 5 years of professional experience. There is quite a lackadaisical attitude which can make the graduating take longer. When I was juggling with the idea to withdraw from the program, I asked the continuing students why they stayed. Many, if not all said that they were just in too deep and didnt want to start over at new university or program. (Mind you, this is the satellite Brownsville campus, I have no comment on the Edinburg campus)"

"At the beginning I had no idea if I liked the college or not. within time I felt more at home and once I got into my degree I learned that I loved it. I had a passion for Marine Biology and eventually got a job at the Biology Labs as a Teaching Assistant. Eventually, I earned my degree and applied to the masters degree and got in with the help of Dr. V. I was truly ecstatic. I don't know if I will be able to continue since my husband got a job offer an all but I definitely love this campus and am a true Vaquero/Bronco at heart because of it."

"I went to college in two different blocks. I didn't appreciate the experience and opportunity enough the first time. And I didn't really get an idea of what I wanted to go into until a few years later. Unless you are absolutely sure about your chosen degree plan, there is no reason to rush through it. Take some time to enjoy the different student life events the university has to offer. But the school is good and the quality of education is high. Just don't keep your head in the sand"

"My educational career can be expressed as a rollercoaster of new views and concepts that pushed you to the limits of countenance and creativity. My degree provoked your character as a person and made you question who you are as an individual to better assess the path you are on and lead you to your career goals. During my educational career I have had the opportunity to study under the brightest minds that not only fueled my apatite to learn but opened my eyes to new thoughts and ideas that help shaped the person I am today. I owe a great deal to my professors for giving me the tools and guidance needed to pursue my passions and for instilling the importance of obtaining knowledge. It is from this impact I received from my professors that motivates me to pursue a career in education. I desire to be a voice of guidance for future generations such as my professors encouraged me and help craft young minds to reach for success. I now review my teachers methods to better grasp new ways to reach students, to promote better understanding in material, and to process new information provided. It is the actions and diverse programs offered by UTRGV that has motivated me to pursue more than just my degree. I have earned my writing certification from not only my dedication to my craft but from the motivation from my teachers to obtain more from my time at this institution. The various organizations at UTRGV offers opportunities to grow and build your own path to your career goal. I feel great pride for my school and am proud to express my unique experience from this University."

"I attended the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley during my undergraduate years and will now attending their graduate studies program for Physician Assistants. Overall I found the school to be of great value to my educational experience. First of all the professors are very good with explaining what is expected of you and will be there to help you with any needs. The school is extremely affordable with much financial aid. In the social department I had great experiences with all of my classmates, they were all very friendly and open to helping you especially if their help could later be reciprocated."

"The Social Work programs is very smooth. The university is not very big and I believe that is something good. This helps the professors and staff to explain any questions the student may have. As of my social work classes, they were all very interesting and fun. I had the total opposite idea of college before I attended my first day. Every day in class there is something new to learn and the instructors are very kind, sweet, and have the passion to teach and make the valley proud of the social work graduates. The college is very peaceful and is always trying to make things easier for its students. I am about to graduate with my bachelor's in social work this December, and all I can say is that it was worth every minute of it. That is why now I would like to pursue my Masters degree. I know I am capable of changing the world."

"The University of Texas - Pan American (now The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley) is a very diversified higher-level study institution i terms of the many different places throughout the country the student population comes from. The university is located in deep South Texas, only about 25 miles tops from the US-Mexico Border; it is also located only about 60 miles away from South Padre Island. Although composed of many small municipalities, this region as a whole has expanded tremendously in the past 10 years or so, with all these independent towns making the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) a rather large metropolitan area. The occupational Therapy Program at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) enjoys of a very good reputation in terms of its current curriculum and the level of expertise with which it prepares its new graduates, making them very competitive in the filed after graduation."

"Its a small university compared to the bigger city universities so the classes available are a bit sparse and financial aid is only available through workstudy for graduates. That said it is very affordable, job networking and clubs specific to your interests allow you to get the working experience you need for almost any occupation. Professors can be very personal and help open doors to many different programs and careers."
