I personally love UMA. Without Admissions, Student Advisors and my Instructors I wouldn’t had been able to do it. My experience with UMA was awesome, they show they care from start to finish. UMA was there for me from beginning to end, matter of fact they still sticking by my side. At first, I admit that I was skeptical of going back to school at age 41, because of the number of years it had been since I had any type of formal education. I was a divorced Mom whose only son had just graduated from High School and had no real direction, after all, I had been just "Mom" since I was 18 years old. Every single Advisor, Instructor, Financial Aid Counselor, etc. that I have encountered along my journey has treated me with nothing but respect, courtesy, and a positive attitude. I have been able to call, text, and email all of my Instructors, at any given time, for guidance, support, and to answer my questions the entire time I have been a UMA student. Discussion forums and a broad social network of fellow UMA students have helped me to feel like I am not alone in this. I would also like to add that their slogan that "UMA Cares" is a fact that I have experienced on two of the scariest days of my life. The first being the sudden death of my Mother on Christmas last year, only two months after I enrolled. The second was on my 41st birthday, September 14th, when I suffered a Myocardial Infarction (or heart attack) and had to have surgery to place a stent in the artery that supplies blood to the actual heart muscle. It was terrifying because I had 100% blockage and nearly did not survive. The concern and genuine affection I felt from UMA staff was overwhelming and I will never forget it as long as I live. I am proud to say that, despite the most difficult obstacles I have ever faced, I was able to maintain my 4.0 GPA. I was accepted into the Alpha Beta Kappa Honor Society and I am an official UMA Ambassador! I graduate in just a few short months and I hope that my story will help you all to see that if you really want a purpose and need direction, then UMA is the school to guide you. It has been the best decision of my life, and truth be told, UMA is a fantastic place to gain your diploma or degree. There are those that do not take full advantage of the resources provided, and they may try to sway you away from UMA, but do not allow them to discourage you. I would say in all honesty, UMA is a great school to attend. They have your back through the end and even after you graduate. The tuition is inexpensive than majority of the other schools that have you paying an arm and a leg for. Also, UMA have great selections of majora to choose from. I had the school help me find a job and im still with out a job, the jobs they are trying to place me at is not in my field, i thought when i m got my degree that i would be placed in a office or something but they jeep trying to pull me for jobs that i know for a fact i want get because my are is big on hands on and liscense, ile only get an inter view but thats as far as ile make it and the position their offering me is no more than 10 an hour. If I could give UMA zero stars I would. I applied for my bachelor degree, with another college and was told during the transcript review that my associate degree is a diploma and UMA is not regionally or nationally accredited. I'm in debt up to my eyeballs. I do not have the funds to re-take my associate degree and my bachelor degree plus at my age, I do not want to graduate in my 50's. UMA states they are accredited and I do in fact have an associate degree, this came from a manager. UMA has blamed... Read More the other college saying that it is up to the individual college if they accept UMA credits or not. So four different colleges telling me the same thing about the accreditation and me having a diploma instead of an associate degree is every college's fault but UMA's. Career services is a joke they send you for jobs not even in your degree field. I graduated as a medical admin assistant and was being sent for jobs like a pharmacy tech and dialysis technician. UMA's response, well you use your degree in those fields. I was a paramedic, there is a major difference between a dialysis tech and a medical admin specialist. UMA always points the finger at everyone else, they refuse to take ownership of their own faults, like accreditation and career services sending you random jobs you are not qualified for.

UMA was the best decision that I have ever made in my educational journey. I have never been so satisfied with all the services that UMA offers us students. From start to finish, I have maintained a 4.0 GPA, Straight As, placement on the Deans List, acceptance into the ambassadors program, and placement with the Honors Society. I see all of the negative reviews and I honestly feel that everything is what you make it. Although they state that they will help with finding a job, interviewing, and taking the MAA certification, everything else is really up to you.
