"They discriminate. They disqualified me for a 14 year old misdemeanor. I already have an associates with honors. What a shame they can't further my aspirations. They have wasted alot of my time. Don't apply if you have misdemeanors no matter how old."
Kaitlyn - 7/12/2019

Hi Kyle - Thank you for reaching out to us. A criminal background check is an enrollment requirement at Ultimate Medical Academy and we include a disclosure in our enrollment packet to gather consent and provide information about the process. Many healthcare positions require a background check before hiring and our goal is to avoid enrolling students who may not be able to pass a background check satisfactorily when seeking employment in their field of study after graduation.

If you have any questions about the admissions process, please reach out to our UMA Cares Team at 800-509-5474 and we would be happy to discuss in more detail with you.

Kaitlyn - 6/3/2019

Hi there - Thank you very much for reaching out to us. As stated on page 33 of the UMA Catalog, UMA does not guarantee transfer of credits from UMA to another institution or from another institution to UMA. All potential credits are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and accepted credits are awarded at the discretion of UMA. For students seeking transfer credits from courses taken outside of UMA, these credits must have been earned with a grade of C or higher. The transfer-of-credit award is based on a five-level transcript analysis conducted by course level, title and number of credits, course objectives and course description. UMA maintains a signed, written record of transfer credit granted for previous education by Registrar and notification is sent to the student regarding the outcome of the transfer credit evaluation. I would like to connect you with our UMA Cares Team so that we may discuss your concerns in more detail and see if there is anything we may do to help. Would you please email us at social@ultimatemedical.edu so that I may better assist you?

A.J. - 5/3/2019
Degree: Dental Assistant
Graduation Year: 2018
"This place is a jokethey prey on those who are already at a disadvantage and then push you to take loan after loan for programs that are overpriced and sub-standard! How is this place even in business... my program was a waste of time and money! It all started with my first visit to that prison-looking place. I should have turned around and ran immediately!!! I mean, what actual school brings you in for a tour and then the woman assigned to advise me asked inappropriate questions about my age, family, the status of my relationship with my childs fatherand then pushed me into the financial aid office within the first 30min. Once I was approvedmeaning they can bleed my student loan allowance dry, she shoves a pile of papers in my face and basically badgers me to sign up. The campus is literally 2 dirty floors of a rundown building in the crack den of Clearwater. AgainI blame this whole experience and the debt Im now in (without an actual career in the dental field at all to show for it, since Im now working in CVS earning $10/hr) on these so called admissions advisors!!!! These people are not trained.. and they bully you into enrolling in this awful place. I only went in to take a tour after being hounded and harassed for weeks with calls (up to 5-6x per day) to my cell phone. Bottom line: dont waste your money and go to a REAL SCHOOL! This place should be SHUT DOWN!"

"The actual learning part of this school's online program was amazing. The student Advisors were a bit clingy, despite me telling them I do not do well being bothered. I never missed days, and I graduated with a 4.0 GPA. It wasn't until I was enrolled in their nightmare-inducing department they call 'Career services' that I realized this place may, in fact, be insane. I have had four different 'advisors', and have been talked down to, offered jobs that I did not even remotely qualify for, and dealt with the most asinine and unprofessional people I'd never even wish on my worst of enemies. This place has countlessly placed me in for jobs without my knowledge or even in a city I could get to easily. They have even sent me into a job interview knowing I did not have the proper licenses to work there for a potential job, just to be laughed out of the place. This school needs to be reviewed with a fine tooth comb and see if they're even worthy of being considered a school. At this point, it feels more like wasted time and effort dealing with their mind-numbing stupidity."

"I was told that my disbursement check was cut and mailed on 2/28/19 it is now 3/19/19 and i have yet to receive it and i have called multiple times and all i get is "it was put in the mail allow 7-10 business days" I spoke with the post master in Tampa as well as in Florissant where I live and I also have mail watch and I was told that either the school has prepared it and not sent it or it was just never sent. Then the school tells me that after 15-business days that they can stop payment and cut me a new check which will be another three week process. What I dont understand is that UMA mailed me a student id card that was dated 3/8/19 and i received it 3/11/19. I receive books, and binders that they mail within three days but a check I have not received. No management seems to care about my "check" Im going to report this to everyone I can. DO NOT ENROLL HERE! I had told my friends about it and they were interested in enrolling but I will be sure to let them know not to. This is sad because I believe that they did not mail my check. They should have mailed the check priority. and or mail my new one that way. I am going to call the place that I took the loan out from and report this!"

Tamara - 2/27/2019
Degree: Human Services
Graduation Year: 2019
"I'm not too sure what to say about UMA. Everything started out great and then went sideways. I have also even caught several of the advisors in lies, but now that I'm in, I'm in. When I first started UMA, I began with the Human Services Program. I went through some life events that caused me to postpone my education, but quickly went back. During my re-enrollment, I changed majors and graduated in October 2018 with my diploma. I didn't want to stop there, so due to a new job I had incurred, I decided to just continue going and get my Associate's degree in Human Services. I was put through a cat and mouse chase with trying to continue my education. I was given a new student advisor who stated to me on more than one occassion that I should not change my majors and just graduate with my degree in the current program I just graduated with my diploma in because I was only 2 classes away from the degree. So, me thinking logically, I agreed, thinking that I would graduate with my degree in that program, and still have pretty much all the credits needed to still obtain my other degree. So I completed the "last 2 classes" in January 2019, and to my surprise, I get an email about the 2nd week in February alerting me to missing assignments, attendance violation, etc. Come to find out, I still had 8 more classes to go to get my degree in that program which was pretty much close to the same amount of time to complete the degree I wanted. So now I complete that course and have my paperwork fixed to where I can get into the correct program in April 2019 (was supposed to be February 25, 2019. But there is a catch here as well. I specifically told my new advisor (3rd one since November) that I did not want to take classes that DID NOT pertain to the degree that I wanted to pursue. She reassured me twice that the classes I am currently enrolled in and the other I had just completed were needed for the other program as well. To my surprise, the classes are NOT included in the degree that I want at all. So now i'm pretty much paying for classes and an education that I do not want, on top of them wanting me to pay out-of-pocket."
