Graduated, but now not a fan - 12/14/2018
Degree: Medical Billing & Coding
Graduation Year: 2014
"I started off liking the school. It was a great way to get my education while working full time and raising kids. I graduated, got my licenses, and asked them for the help they claimed they provided alumni. Lets get this straight. ITS THE WORST HELP EVER!!! they took my very impressive resume and made it worthless. The listed licenses i didn't have, took away YEARS of work experience and added skill I knew nothing about. I've had potential employers tell me to re-write my resume b/c it looks REALLY bad that i have gaps in my employment (i dont, thats just what UMA did to my resume). THEN, their employment help. they sent me 1 job that i was not qualified for and that was it. I never even heard from that company again. Then, they called me a year later asking me if i still needed their help. Um... No. I found a job on my own. They asked for the information for "records purposes" and then harassed my employer asking them to hire other alumni. They didtn call them once a day. or twice. they called 4-6 times DAILY. We finally had to tell UMA to stop calling, its excessive and harassing. Recently, they contacted me to see if i was still working in my field. STUPIDLY, i answered and told them i wasnt available to talk longer b/c alas- it's christmastime and i'm eyeballs deep in wrapping paper, decorations and baking. they said no problem and they'd call me after the holidays. NOT EVEN 24 HOURS WENT BY!!!! I'm sitting at my desk at work and my boss pages me. UMA called her line DEMANDING my employment information. Then, my HUSBAND calls me. UMA contacted him (no idea how) asking him to tell me to talk to their staff about my employment. I called UMA and demanded they take me off their calling lists. they agreed and we hung up. 20 mins later, i get another call from them, but this time, there was no voicemail left. The amount of times that they call is RIDICULOUS!!!!"

"I am highly disappointed in this school. I have two degrees and a college certification from here, and I am unable to get a job. I applied for Voc Rehab from the military, and when they saw that in had all the accolades I had, and still wasn't able to land a job, it was then that I learned from the career advisors it was because I didn't complete an internship. WTF?!!! All this money wasted, and can't get a job because I didn't have an internship?!! My friend, who also attended this school, through my referral, got an associates degree, and was able to get an excellent job because she was offered an internship. She went from making $14 an hour, to being chosen for a managerial position, that would salary her for almost 55k. Meanwhile, I'm being offered cut rate a** wages for $10 an hour, because every position I apply for says that I don't have any experience under my belt. I am f*** pissed. I feel like I wasted time and money. Why wasn't I offered an intern?!! I am very angry. The only services I was offered was resume services and interviews, where I was denied anyway. I would definitely not recommend this school."

"This school is so horrible. Not to mention they bombard you with spoofed numbers and no voicemails until you call them back begging to be left alone only to be told well you asked for information. I literally will make sure to only spread all the negative things about this college to my loved ones and people reviewing online school. This is 100% a scam that has hurt people and put people in debt by having credits that mean nothing. Keep looking, or do online classes at you local CC."

"If I could give UMA zero stars I would. I applied for my bachelor degree, with another college and was told during the transcript review that my associate degree is a diploma and UMA is not regionally or nationally accredited. I'm in debt up to my eyeballs. I do not have the funds to re-take my associate degree and my bachelor degree plus at my age, I do not want to graduate in my 50's. UMA states they are accredited and I do in fact have an associate degree, this came from a manager. UMA has blamed the other college saying that it is up to the individual college if they accept UMA credits or not. So four different colleges telling me the same thing about the accreditation and me having a diploma instead of an associate degree is every college's fault but UMA's. Career services is a joke they send you for jobs not even in your degree field. I graduated as a medical admin assistant and was being sent for jobs like a pharmacy tech and dialysis technician. UMA's response, well you use your degree in those fields. I was a paramedic, there is a major difference between a dialysis tech and a medical admin specialist. UMA always points the finger at everyone else, they refuse to take ownership of their own faults, like accreditation and career services sending you random jobs you are not qualified for."
Kaitlyn - 12/3/2018

Hi Lillian - Thank you very much for reaching out to us. UMA is nationally accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). Each school sets its own policy for accepting transfer credits from other institutions. For example, UMAs policy regarding External Transfer Credit for Previous Education can be found on page 26 of the Catalog. UMAs Catalog at page 28 states that a receiving institution controls acceptance of credits, and accreditation does not guarantee acceptance. Transferability of credit is at the discretion of the accepting institution; it is a students responsibility to confirm whether another institution accepts UMA credits. Like many schools, UMA has entered into articulation partnerships with select schools offering Bachelor degree programs. Information regarding these articulation partnerships can be found on page 27 of the Catalog. Qualified students may be eligible to transfer credits earned at UMA into these programs. For more information regarding these educational opportunities, please contact me. Our Career Services Team is dedicated to assisting our graduates in their job searches and our team would be happy to continue working with you in your job search. I would like to connect you with our UMA Cares Team so that we may discuss your concerns in more detail with you and see if there is anything we may do to help. Please email us at social@ultimatemedical.edu so that I may assist you.

"I started this college November 2015 for Healthcare Management. I excelled in school even though I went through major health issues. My advisor and instructors were very understanding and encouraging to keep me focus. When I finished my very first career advisor was awesome. I built a strong bond with her and everything was great until I was switched to someone else. Everyone after her was absolutely horrible. The Career advisor department is some c***. They don't respond to emails or return phone calls. They need to coach you for employers who don't want to hire became of lack of up to date experience. I am very disappointed with this department which makes me regret going to the school. I'm Looking for work outside of what I went to school for. What a complete waste of time and money. WISH I HAD WENT SOMEWHERE ELSE."

"This story starts with the fact that I was stupid enough to let UMA guilt trip me into enrolling, the entire time I kept telling them that all I want to do right now is research what colleges are out there so I can pick the best one for me. The advisor told me he understood this and that in order to get accurate pricing information for the program I was interested in I would have to enroll. I was stupid enough to believe him, although the entire time I kept asking and making sure that the enrollment process wouldn't mean I would automatically be placed into classes and get charged - he assured me they wouldn't though he couldn't say much more on the matter. So I go through, look at the classes and decide that they aren't for me. Except now it's too late because I'm getting about half a dozen emails and around 3 or 4 phone calls a day from them. And now I just got an email saying I have been enrolled in a class! When I went onto the site to figure out what's going on the helper had absolutely nothing useful to tell me - she wouldn't even let me know how to finally get unenrolled from them. I had my suspicions before, but now I really don't think this is a legitimate school and I absolutely recommend that any prospective college goers stay far away from them. They may say that are an accredited school but let me tell you this: ITT Tech, the college my father went to, said they were a recognized and accredited school, they even had commercials all over the place. Except when he got his degree and tried to get a job, absolutely nobody would take it. They lied and pretty much stole thousands of dollars from him. I wouldn't be surprised if that's what UMA is doing so I repeat: DO NOT GO HERE."

"PLEASE READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE ENTERING INTO THIS COLLEGE!!!! They continually harass you with phone calls and emails and even texts!! They do not stop! I did great in school and was able to maintain my 4.0 GPA so that is good, however, you can do that with any online school! This school CONTINUALLY did not know what the other person was doing and was constantly asking me for proof of me speaking to so and so. Ridiculous! I do not need to prove my integrity to them. If I say I received it, well then I received it. Also, surprised by the amount of emails from supervisors that could not form complete sentences and even wrote as if English was not their first language. Disappointing. Glad I did well, but please consider the possibility of an enormous amount of highly annoying correspondence. Terrible!"

"I entered UMA in 2017 in the Medical Billing and Coding Program, and graduated in July of this year. Not only did I absolutely love the program, the instructors, advisors, and career services have been extremely helpful. After graduation, career services immediately started sending my resume out and sending me links to job openings in my area. I got a job within a little more than a month of graduating making good money. I would recommend this school to anyone that wanted to pursue schooling online. Theyre great and Ill definitely pursue another degree through them!"

"The school was wonderful! I never at any point felt like I was left alone to figure stuff out on my own, my advisor called every couple of weeks to check on me, tell me I was doing a good job....they send out email reminders that we had assignments due, mid-term progress reports. Absolutely wonderful all the way around and now that I've graduated they went out of their way to help me secure a job. Highly highly recommend the school to anybody looking for an education in a career change"
