"The pros are that the faculty are there to help you succeed and will provide much help if you just ask. The cons are how expensive it is for a graduate student and difficult to find scholarships to help out."

"UCCS started more as a commuter campus and has grown to a world-class university with diversity, excellent academic programs, and an outstanding environment."

"Pro: The Faculty is highly knowledgable and have strong background references from Harvard to NYU to Berkeley. You'll receive a lot of one-on-one attention and in my case, be able to perform many complex scientific experiments that can easily be published in a scientific journal. There isn't a strong structure so you are able to mold your program to fit you. Cons: Unfortunately, the faculty is too small to accommodate a strong graduate program. Most, if not all, of the graduate courses will be shared with undergraduates. Because of this reason, if you received a degree in any Science, it's is not possible for you to do grad school at UCCS because there are not enough graduate courses."

"Thus far, I have enjoyed being in the counseling program at UCCS. The program is a perfect fit for a working Mom. I have learned so much in the short time that I have been in the program and really value the real life experiences the professors bring to the classroom. There are two cohorts, day and evening. The only frustration I have is that I am in the evening cohort and we have had to adjunct teachers teach two of our classes, whereas the day cohort has always had faculty teach their classes. It feels a little unfair, as the faculty are all experts in their fields and it feels like they have much more to offer than the adjuncts, although there was nothing in particular wrong with the adjunts."

  • Degree: Non-Profit Management
"UCCS has a wonderful and diverse faculty which helps focus on any part of nonprofit management you would like. Additionally, classes are offered at a variety of times which is especially appreciated by those of us who work full time as well! Unfortunately, offering classes at different times without showing future options limits the electives available. Furthermore, I would personally like one central system that shows all course information available together (from transfer credits to future class offerings in order to plan better). Overall great program with many enthusiastic teachers as well as students, which reassures me at least that I chose the right field for me!"

"It is a good school for the in-state price, but Colorado Springs is not the most appealing city to live in."

"I am a first year graduate student in the Sports Nutrition graduate program. I love UCCS facilities, the support of professor's, internship and work opportunities and most of all that it is a big advocate of recycling! A con is that they're is limited space for housing but right now a new building is being constructed that will open on Fall 2013."

"My PhD program is innovative. Students learn to do research from the start of the program. No comps! Just research. We work with great faculty who include students in their work. We learn quantitative and qualitative methods in a cohort that is encouraged to be supportive- not competitive. It is a major change from traditional PhD programs- and it works. Cons- diversity has to be improved. Classroom discussions could be implemented more thoroughly. And connections to alumni, career support, and guest speakers would be a bonus!"

"The MPA graduate program at UCCC-Colorado Springs is a academically challenging program staffed by professionals with both academic and real life public administration experience. The distance program allows for the flexibility needed for working adults to continue their educational goals while working full time."
