"I felt that this was a great program with extensive networking opportunity. The faculty strive to see their students succeed and base the classes around helping the students understand the material in a real world setting. There were plenty of opportunities to use the knowledge you gain in practice with proper supervision and feedback. Overall, it was a well balanced program to help students succeed and then set them up for reputable careers directly after graduation."

"The Physical Therapy program at CU Denver is one of the best in the nation, according to ranking and personal views. There is so much collaboration among professors, clinicians from the community, and students of all the medical programs to produce a fantastic learning environment. Classes are challenging, which is met with endless resources on campus to help each student succeed. These resources include other helpful students, professors with an open-door policy, and educational technology on campus. In addition, there are countless opportunities for students to become involved and find their niche within the field, whether it be research, volunteering at local underserved community clinics, or teaching fitness classes. All of these opportunities prepare competent, ethical, and compassionate professionals to enter the field of physical therapy completely ready to transform the lives of their patients."

"University of Colorado Denver has such a great business school due to all the focus they put on their students. All the professors that I had were willing to help me at anytime and were all so encouraging. I am glad that I got the opportunity to attend and graduate from this school because it is such a positive environment."

"The hit or miss quality of the institution necessitates the following statement. This review is intended to look at the experience as a whole and should not be applied to any single individual but rather the school of public health on this campus as a whole. Without giving specific examples I can say that the administrative wing of the organization is a disaster. There is a lack of responsiveness and a general unwillingness to explore processes and systems through the eyes of a student. The system that is used doesn't even allow students to print a class schedule. All of this in mind, I have no hope in the current system being improved in any meaningful way. In my classes I have met some of the most concerned, capable, and passionate professors that exist on this planet. I have also met some of the most disengaged and burnt-out professionals that can possibly exist. The good ones work with students to make sure they understand concepts, they encourage students to engage in the learning process, offer opportunities to engage with the community, and have a high enough level of understanding that they can explain even difficult concepts to elementary aged children. The ineffective professors don't seem to care. There is about a 60/40 split with ineffective professors outnumbering the effective professors. To the credit of the institution, if a student explores outside of the traditional student experience he/she can find some fantastic opportunities to work in the community and learn. The engaged faculty are very supportive of this and work very hard through administrative inefficiencies to ensure that students get the experience they are pursuing. I would not recommend this program to most students. Most students will go to class and take what is thrown to them and if they do that they will receive a sub-par education in this system. Successful students in this program learn to judge which faculty and staff are engaged and have a desire to help. Successful students will then work with those engaged faculty and staff to create a plan for success that includes working in the community. Unfortunately, all students are required to take courses facilitated by a mix of the good, the bad, and the ugly. It could be so much better."

"My graduate program was well-developed and included a phenomenal support system, however, the technology is a bit outdated and could stand some upgraded facilities. The staff was wonderful, though, and worth the attendance"

  • Degree: Counseling Psychology
"The Multicultural Clinical Mental Health Counseling track at University of Colorado Denver is excellent. There is a strong commitment to diversity that goes beyond lip service. That commitment is reflected in the faculty, the curriculum, and the students in the program. The focus on professional preparation for the counseling field is reflected in the space that is afforded students to network and arrange experiences that will allow them to graduate with the appropriate hands-on experience. There are also numerous opportunities to get involved in social justice education and activism on campus and in the surrounding community. The downside to the program is that the focus on professional preparation excludes preparation for further academic study in a doctoral program. This is not a big deal for anyone who is focused on practicing in the field, but it may limit opportunities for those who are considering going further into academia."

"Master's in Bioengineering at CU, Denver is great and is highly ranked because of it's expert-faculty and proximity to Children's Hospital, Colorado and National Jewish, world renowned institutions. Program allows accessibility to real-time learning, experience, relevant extremely challenging course-work and tough evaluation to ensure quality. However, it is too stringent, rigid, lacks flexibility wrt courses, timings, faculty encouragement etc to accommodate students with other commitments."

"The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is a wonderful place to perform Graduate work! Collaboration is a top priority and the research that is conducted is exciting and translational. The work-life balance is great here as well, professors understand that there is more going on in your life than just research. Denver is a great place to live as it is close to many recreational activities (skiing, hiking, etc.) as well as a being a fun, busy city!"

"The school was great. The program that I was in was good but more of an MBA than a Masters in Marketing. I would have got much more out of more marketing classes and less of the other general business classes. I took similar class doing general course in my undergrad"

"Some of the pros for this program is the use of advanced technology, the professors are still working in the field and each instructor is specialized in different field. There are many helpers in lab that work in different fields. Professors are always available for help. The class size is fairly small and the professors knows well all their students. There are many hours of clinical experience with a year long internship at the end of the program. The tuition in fairly low for in state students. Some of the cons of this programs is the intensity of this program that goes through the summer too. There are very few days of break during the program. Also, each class requires a lot of work."

"The program is so focused on creating thoughtful and prepared School Psychologists who are consumers of research and thorough assessment analysts and interpreters. There are some professors that have some trouble with communicating information in a way that will make it fit into your practice. However, the director of the program is a fantastic woman that really understands what it means to be a School Psychologists and cares about sending out the most prepared and passionate practitioners possible."

"I am in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. This program is very competitive to be accepted into and the competition only increases with every cycle. However, during my application process, the admissions committee, current faculty, and current students were more than happy to lend a hand whenever needed. The campus itself is very new, modern, safe, and clean. The location is further from downtown as I would like as it is in the suburbs. Fortunately, Colorado has been improving its public transportation system significantly. Come 2016, there will be a light rail station built near this campus that will travel to both downtown Denver and Denver International Airport."

"My graduate program at UCDenver is very focused on preparing us to be the best practitioners possible. We are immediately in the schools, observing skilled practitioners and learning through experience. The cohort model of learning has been incredibly helpful as it develops a sense of community among those with whom I am learning. It is exactly what I was looking for and exactly where I want to be."

"Jilin University opened my journey to the dream to be a master civil engineer; University of Colorado Denver deepened my recognition of civil engineering and impressed me even more. So far, I have mastered preliminary command of research methods and scientific thinking, yet it is just a start of my scientific research. Many mysteries in structural engineering area await exploration and unlocking, and many difficulties and problems remain to be overcame and resolved. America, as the birthplace of structural engineering, has been equipped with the most prospective theoretical knowledge and abundant practical experience. The strong academic atmosphere and rigorous academic attitude of CU Denver deeply attract me as well. I hope my dream of study further on structural engineering area can be realized in University of Colorado Denver."
