"I really loved the program at UF for marine science. I learned different aspects of marine life and it made me a more well rounded student within my degree program. This program also allowed the ability to explore different types of classes in and out of the major. In addition, I'd like to thank all the teachers in the program because they are all very passionate about what they teach and it truly shows."

"I graduated from the University of Florida with Microbiology and Cell Science B.S. degree. As a pre-medical student with little guidance on how to approach the road to medical school, an early challenge was choosing the appropriate major and degree for me. After extensive research on numerous undergraduate degrees, such as Health Sciences, Applied Kinetics and Physiology, and Biology, I thought that Microbiology and Cell Science would provide a strong foundation of knowledge in immunology, bacteriology and pathogenesis, all of which are a unique approach to understanding medicine. UF's program employs undeniably helpful and caring administrators that provide each available opportunity to the students, encouraging community outreach, laboratory research, and personal growth through the exploration of academia. It is no easy program; to achieve highest honors, the student must be prudent, diligent, and excited to embrace the rigor of STEM academics."

"Oh boy, well allow me to start off with saying that I have not attended this university. This is mostly, alright ALL because of the communication from this university is a JOKE for online students! I started out with the whole application and paid the fee. I had a few more steps to my application process, yet I completed everything that was asked of me in a timely manner. I wish I could say the same for the school! I found out that I was accepted into the university by tracking the submission page DAILY. I received NO welcome letter, NO welcome call to congratulate me on being accepted into a university with such a lot acceptance rate...nothing! I went on to contact the university to see what my next step was, and not one person knew. There is a "tuition fee" that EVERYONE must pay, and NO ONE understands so don't bother asking questions about it. The whole academic adviser call was incredibly ridiculous! They are NOT here to answer the questions that you have in regards to your degree, they are just there to SPEED through the syllabus, and if you email them later with any questions, they have NO idea because they are basically call center directors! And they will direct you all over the university accept for where you need to be directed to! I went ahead and applied for my FAFSA, and got NO calls about this either! I once again had to call, MULTIPLE TIMES and still got NO answers. I finally had to wait and do an online chat with financial affairs to just find out that in the whole 5 month process that they were dragging their feet through, that my financial aide was not going to go through in time and I was going to be responsible to pay for my classes entirely out of pocket! The only advice I was gives was to defer my enrollment from summer to fall. Seriously!? yep! So as an older online student that is ready, excuse me MORE than ready to begin my classes, I am once again ignored and let down by the shear incompetence of this university! I would also like to say that while they may not be a "for profit" college, they sure are after your money! Here you will not only get the wonderful respect of ZERO COMMUNICATION from the university, but you will pay for the application, have to pay before you are even really enrolled for the stupid student ID, you can go ahead and apply for financial aide and be granted FULL amounts, however you will STILL be paying out of pocket for classes! Books, and SO much more! This place charges for EVERYTHING!!! i still have to pay for a "placement math exam" out of pocket despite the fact that I was given NO other option than to defer my enrollment. Best part...ZERO COMMUNICATION that I would have to do this, ZERO reason as to why, zero heads up. So if you want to pay a LOT of money, for a university that has ZERO communication for their online students...this is the place for you! Completely unprofessional and ridiculous! I have attended college before enrolling here, but I had just changed my mind on my major, as well as applied to many other universities, and I have NEVER had such a lack of communication from a university that would be getting nearly a 110k for the degree."

"The University of Florida is an incredible college that truly tries to foster the personal and professional growth of their students. As a student interested in joining the healthcare field, I found ample opportunities to become involved in research, shadow healthcare professionals, and engage in clinical and community based outreach efforts. All of these activities were fostered in addition to a world class education that I would not change for the world. The vast majority of professors here are incredibly passionate about their fields of study and provide awesome sources of mentorship and networking opportunities for students who excel and show interest in their studies. The one area I believe our university could improve upon would be the area of financial support for students. Despite receiving many scholarship offers from other comparable universities within the state, Neither I nor any of my friends received any type of financial assistance other than loans. This being said, cost of attendance is actually very affordable and is a bargain for the education you will receive."

"The classes I took make me feel prepared to go into the field of study I am pursuing. However, there needs to be improvement in how the classes are taken from Freshman to Senior transitions. I found that there were some classes I took later on in my collegiate career that would've greatly helped myself as a Freshman or Sophomore. The lack of communication between student and counselor is shocking. Not only for my own college but from what I've heard from others. To combat this, I would make biweekly visits to the counselor's office in order to make myself known and corroborate my plans to ensure I was following the right path. Unfortunately, I realized the lack of communication later on in my career so it didn't have as much impact as it would from a Freshman or Sophomore starting point. The University of Florida is a great school with challenging curriculum. I have nothing but utmost respect for those pursuing any type of degree from this magnificent college. As with all large schools, parking can be a bit of a hassle, however the University provides a multitude of ways to combat this. Additionally, I extremely appreciated the Apple Service Center ( one of the many things UF offers freely) in which you can take problem computers to figure out what is going on, at no charge. The Student Government in addition to the University works to make it an enjoyable and safe place for all who come here."

"UF's Microbiology and Cell Science undergrad program was the perfect stepping stone for my continuing education and career goals. I will stay in the department to obtain my masters and then go on to medical school. I appreciated the devotion of the faculty and staff to the students in the program as well as the quality of education. Every course I took within the department was immensely better than the courses at UF outside the microbiology department."
