"I really enjoyed my 3 years at the University of Houston. As a transfer student from community college, I had absoluteIy no idea what I was getting myself into when I transferred to a Tier One mega institution like UH. I was accepted to and graduated twice from the business school with a BBA and Master of Science in Accounting. I contribute most of my success to the fact that chose to major in a very difficult subject, and my participation in a professional program that helped me to grow my professional network immensely in a very short amount of time. Through the connections I made at my school, I was able to land an internship with one of the top companies in the world almost two years before I graduated. That internship turned into a full-time job offer, and as a result I have been able to finish my master's degree in peace without the added stress of recruiting and interviewing. I recommend that all students find out what type of work they are interested in by either working part-time or participating in paid/unpaid internships. The biggest differentiator between myself and someone who did not leave UH with as much success is the amount of personal growth I went through before/during/after enrolling. Four years of college goes by quickly, and often times it is not enough time to be exposed to everything we need to make us the type of employee/professional/person we want to be. The best way to minimize the chances of that happening to you is to get involved, step out of your comfort zone EARLY, and select a major/career field that allow you to chase your passions, or at least afford to when you have time! The accounting program at the University of Houston has done that for me, and I will be forever grateful."

"I attend the Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston and I'm working on my Master's in Accountancy(MSACCY). Bauer has excellent faculty. Bauer has the traditional audit and tax specialties like everybody else. Bauer also has specialties in internal audit and risk. Bauer is one three schools in the US that has been named a center of excellence by the Institute of Internal Auditor(IIA). Because of my unique situation, I have already sat for two sections and already passed one section of the CPA. I'm waiting on the results for the seconds section.Bauer has prepared me well for the CPA and for life. We have the Big 4 and other accounting firms, oil and gas companies. on campus constantly."

"There are a lot of great things about the accounting graduate program at the University of Houston. The accounting department works tirelessly to provide students with up to date employment opportunities, and opportunities to grow and maintain networks. The program is also competitive, ensuring that the best quality students get through the program and become successful in finding employment in the current job market. The downside of the program is that the University of Houston does not have the notoriety of other universities. This can make it difficult for employers to agree to look at possible employee candidates."

"Our graduate program has grown in the past few years. UH adds new companies every year to help the students and offer full time opportunities. We continue to become better every year but definitely have our work cut out for us. I am proud to become a UH alumni and plan to continue my involvement with this school after my graduation."

"Being that UH is a commuter campus, the overall college spirit is somewhat dim when compared to other tier one universities. The Bauer College of Business makes up for the lack of spirit by providing a team of professors and staff members that are of the highest quality and well accomplished in their respective industries/career paths. Lastly, the highly diverse and multi-national student base drives the curriculum home by bring numerous different perspectives to the classroom."
