"The Dental Program at UofL is top notch and has one of the best curriculum's in the country. Even though the program is rigorous and the workload is high, you are surrounded by wonderful faculty, staff, and classmates that make this graduate program an excellent choice for pursuing a career in Dental Medicine."

"One pro is that you can complete the grad program in one of two ways. Either a thesis or a practicum. The cons are you can only retake two courses. And if they two courses fall below a B for a core course, or a B- for a non-core course, you will be dismissed from the program."

"I feel that my graduate program allows me to plug into the community and get a sense of how my career choice can impact those around me. I came from an undergraduate background in teaching, so I feel that Audiology is a logical step in giving back to my community and leaving my mark on those that I encounter in day to day life."

"The Public Health program at the University of Louisville is one of a kind. Being one of the newest, it combines a new outlook on public health spectrum, while having seasoned and respectable professors. With insights and professional guidance from the Public Health department, I have been very pleased with the program. There are not really any "cons," only challenges that are achievable with hard work and dedication."

"Pros Small cohort means professors take an interest in your progress as a student. The school is directly across from the Metro Department of Health so there is much collaboration between the two entities. Student services is helpful, knowledgeable, and willing to go great lengths to make sure students needs are accommodated. The professors are knowledgeable but are still able to impart their wisdom in a way that is relevant and understandable to their students. Cons The school is not in the best area of town so you have to be in a group if you wish to stay at the school after dark."

"I loved my four years as a University of Louisville undergrad -- the support, intellectualism, and overall terrific campus environment. I've found the same to be true of the Master's of Public Health at the university's School of Public Health and Information Sciences. The staff is incredible -- attentive, and quick to answer my numerous questions. The facility, too, is fantastic. I can't wait for classes this fall."

"The graduate program I am enrolled in provides one of the best qualities of education in the nation. The support and constant attention provided by the faculty and family-oriented atmosphere makes it the ideal learning environment. When given the opportunity, I recommend this graduate program to every student interested in studying Dental Medicine."

"The choice to study medicine at the University of Louisville is an easy one: there are several major hospitals surrounding the student-interested, centralized medical campus in which preceptorships, shadowing, and research can be conducted easily. On top of a great setup, the faculty and fellow students are invaluable assets that only add to the professional, yet tangible atmosphere of the school."

  • Degree: Electrical Engineering
"The graduate program for electrical engineering at the University of Louisville is great. It is an ABET accredited program that includes 3 semesters of cooperative education during the four years of undergraduate education, and then only three more semesters (including the summer, so one year) to get a masters in engineering. There is also the option to begin getting credit for the graduate program while still working on your undergrad, allowing you to space out your workload as you see fit. Through the co-op program, the university helps you make connections long before you ever graduate, giving you the chance to get to know exactly what areas you're interested while experiencing a real work environment and working (and getting paid) full time during these three semesters. By getting this experience, it is much easier to get a job right out of college. Sometimes it is difficult to choose from the limited number of classes offered such as during the summer, but usually this isn't the case. Through coursework, you can experience many different subsections of electrical engineering, including robotics, semiconductors and microelectronics, and control systems. The faculty is always eager to help you, and many are available to do projects and coursework other than what is offered to give you the experience. Also, you'll get it counted towards your degree, so you won't be set back for working on a project with the faculty. In almost every class, the students are also generally given a project of some sort to help acquaint them with software that is used in the field. As for the campus itself, it is located in downtown Louisville. Like any college campus, it's going to have it's quirks, but it's not too bad. If you live off campus, you barely have to deal with it at all. The most annoying part of living on campus is the required meal plan. That's over $1000 for food, though most of it won't get eaten because that's too much to eat of campus food in one semester. So I suggest that if you do attend the University of Louisville, live off campus and everything will be just fine."

"Overall the school is a good place. Law school can be brutal to anyone and if you expect it not to be, don't go. Most of the faculty is great. They've had some issues with financial aid in the past but are working hard to correct the problems they had. Worth enrolling for sure. There aren't many law school environments like UofL's."

"I really have enjoyed studying at University of Louisville School of Medicine. I feel there is a real sense of community there and students are collaborative and look out for one another. Most of the faculty seem to genuinely care for us and want us to succeed. They have a great system for evaluation and feedback and I feel the administration listens to student feedback and adjusts the curriculum accordingly to best suit our needs. The associated hospital is a great learning hospital with a level 1 trauma center that seeks to help the underserved populations of Louisville and allows for a great learning environment for medical students. The campus is located in an inner city area so safety may be a concern for some, but the campus police are readily accessible and the shuttle system allows students to travel back and forth to the parking garage if you're on campus late at night. I personally have never had any issues regarding personal safety. Overall, I think ULSOM is a great place to study and with the new renovations that are currently taking place it should be even better!"

"Pros: - Student Affairs, Diversity Affairs, Financial Aid, Health Services as well as other administrative offices were very accessible and receptive to student needs and feedback. - Excellent quality of education as was reflected by my class' USMLE step 1 scores (Top 5 in the country) and residency match rates (97% compared to 93% for the national average) - Clinical preceptors and course directors are empathetic to students' adjustment to rigorous schedule and work/study/life balance while they complete each rotation - Extensive preparation and guidance for post graduation plans Cons: - Location (unless one is familiar with the city, it's a hard sell to get them to come here) - Diversity is lacking at least in terms of visibility. If is difficult to convince students to come/stay when they are unable to identify with those they see - In an effort to meet students concerns and accreditation requirements, the curriculum varies frequently"
