"I returned to UNCW in 2016 to obtain my Professional MBA after several years of being in the workforce. I earned my undergraduate degree at UNCW as well in Communication Studies. While I loved every minute of my undergraduate years and I wouldn't trade them for anything, my graduate school years were some of the most challenging and rewarding to both myself personally and my career. It was then I got interested in my current career and have been fortunate enough to progress in that career in the 4+ years since my graduation. I owe UNCW quite a bit since they allowed me to have a second chance at getting an education re-enrolling me under a special re-enrollment policy that allowed me the opportunity to earn my Bachelor's and get on my feet after struggling for 5+ years. The professors in my department were very helpful, knowledgeable, and truly cared about their students and the education they were providing them. The same can be said about my graduate program. I've watched the university grow and change over the years and I'm proud to be an alumni of a school that truly cares about its student body. Without the second chance I received, I wouldn't be where I am today."

"I go to UNCW as a nursing student and I can say it has been one of the worst experiences imaginable. I have been disrespected by a majority of the nursing staff and have found minimal help throughout the program. I will say there are a few professors that are wonderful, but they are few and far between. The nursing professors will actually go out of their way to disrespect students. I have been called a liar, cheater, and incompetent. Thankfully I found a job in what I love and and am about to graduate despite UNCW Nursing making me feel unworthy. I wouldn’t recommend this program to anyone who has an ounce of self respect. UNCW nursing will crush every bit of confidence and happiness out of you and there’s nothing you can do about it."

"The school has subpar staff and teachers. The educations is overpriced and useless. Teachers are not willing to work with students during national emergencies, hurricanes and the corona virus. Campus police prey on students for more income in top of the already high price for an underdeveloped campus with subpar opportunities for students. Any other UNC school is a better option, but they all are overpriced subpar NC public schools."

"Being a high school senior can be a scary time. Taking the SAT's and figuring out where you want to go to college. You tour all these schools who tell you why they are the best and why you should attend. I visited about six colleges before touring UNCW, and I kept thinking to myself, when will I find a school that feels like home. Finally, when I visited UNCW, it felt like home. The campus is beautiful, there are trees everywhere and small ponds to relax by between classes. UNCW has done a great job making sure that a large university feels small. You can't walk down chancellors without seeing a familiar face. The students, professor, and staff at UNCW always make you feel like you are part of the Seahawk community. You could walk up to anyone on campus, and they would have a friendly chat with you. UNCW has a wide variety of classes to chose from, and the professors always help you. They all have weekly office hours, so you can always pop in when you have a question. UNCW may not have to newest dorms, but that's where you will make friends that will make your college experience great. The RA's and UNCW always plan fun events to go to and to meet new people. There also hundreds of clubs and organizations that students can join to find their people. I wouldn't trade anything for my experience at UNCW, the last four years were incredible."

"University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) was a great college. They have a wonderful growing facility with teachers that truly care about their students. The university is student friendly, with a campus that offers a variety of degrees and activities. They also host a lot of lectures that are open to the public that I sometimes attend to this day, almost 20 years later."

"Simply said, UNCW gave me some of the best years of my life. I attended after two years as a transfer student to finish my bachelor's degree in Biology. The biology/marine bio department was well involved in many organizations that lead many students to insightful and amazing experiences. The instructors for the most part were amiable people and didn't hesitate to set up a meeting with you in their offices. They would also really try to remember your name, which was important to me as it showed they honestly cared. The campus itself is beautiful, and walking down Chancellor's is always nice, its basically main street for the school and all the students walk up and down it to get to classes. When I toured UNCW I saw a bunch of other students on bikes and longboards and I instantly knew it was the place for me, very laid back place. However, if you're into sports, the biggest one that ever made a fuss at UNCW, at least that I heard of, was basketball, and the games were great to go to. Although, if you're wanting that super sports driven school pride then maybe UNCW isnt the right place, at least thats how I feel about it. Either way, its a great school located close to a classy, relaxing beach, and just east of an interesting downtown area. Hope I helped!"

"I had a wonderful experience at UNCW. The teachers there are very helpful and want their students to do well both academically and in life. There are several resources available to students in order to succeed. There is an extension site at the local community college in Jacksonville and on the military base at Camp Lejuene. There are also counselors at these sites from UNCW that can help just as good as students attending the main campus site."

"My college was thorough and did a good job in providing the necessary skills that I needed to become a Physical Education teacher. I did have a problem with some of the instructors. They seemed to have favorites and didn't really take the time to help me through my student teaching process. I did graduate and went on to teach physical education. I stayed home when I had my own little ones and now I am teaching Special Education in Hawaii."

"I received a BS in Business Administration and a minor in creative writing. Pros about my experience: beautiful, inspiring campus, entrepreneurial spirit across the board at this campus, and lots of creative, philanthropic minded students and faculty. Most classes were challenging, though I felt not all of my business professors were great at teaching, but great at business. I was very happy with my Creative Writing professors - they changed my life and encouraged me to keep creating, while challenging me and giving constructive feedback. Cons - the school is lacking diversity in such an overwhelming rate and they don't have support for students coming from marginalized communities. It feels a bit segregated and unaware of the quiet murmur of elitism and unfortunately racism and homophobia. I hope things have changed in that regard since I was there, but seeing as how they allowed Trump to speak there I would proceed with skepticism."

"The Communication Studies program offers a variety of focuses and interest areas. Students can study mass media, journalism, digital media, broadcasting, rhetoric, and theory. The required courses provide valuable skills such as public speaking, group work, research, and writing/editing. These are essential to success in the professional world regardless of focus area or intended career field. The faculty is supportive and encouraging with tons of opportunities for independent studies and advanced seminars that prepare students for graduate degrees."

"University of North Carolina at Wilmington is a great place to meet new people and a place where essential skills are acquired to learn life skills as well as career ready skills. The professors and overall staff are very knowledgeable and willing to support students in their learning however possible. UNCW provides a plethora of opportunities to get involved on and off campus. Personally, the Watson School of Education and the professors within that department always had the most up to date and recent theories and best practices to offer to students."

"Great campus, really pretty with several really old buildings. In a beach town so there are a lot of really laid back people, just waiting to go surfing. There's a really big interest in keeping the beaches and ocean clean within the EVS department which works well in this community."

"The UNCW Masters in Marine Biology program was the best program I could have joined after finishing my B.Sc. in Marine Biology. The faculty are genuinely invested in the success of their students, and readily make themselves available to assist students with curricular work and research related questions. The staff in the department office have the Biology/Marine Biology program running so efficiently, and they are wonderful people who do everything they can to help. Not only has the UNCW program been a great experience for me in terms of professional development, academic achievement, and research experience; it is a highly collegial, supportive network of people who really become like family. The only con I could possibly think of for this program is that if you aren't interested in marine biology there are fewer options for curricular coursework that may fit your interests since it is a primarily marine biology focused program. I have loved my experience in this program, and think the UNCW has done a remarkable job with this graduate program."

"My experience as an undergraduate student at UNCW was a diverse, yet specific experience. I found the education department to focus on providing well rounded educational classes, as well as classes tailored to specific programs. Through field experience opportunities, tutoring, and collaboration with the public school system, I had a variety of hands-on experiences. Since graduating, I have continued furthering my career in education through additional degress and certifications. I currently serve as a partnership teacher for UNCW."

"The eclectic, intelligent, and supportive department makes my graduate program one-of-a-kind. Their influence over my scholarship and career path cannot be emphasized enough, for my professors illuminated types of academic scholarship and career paths I was unaware were even possibilities. They have provided me with many academic opportunities at conferences and Teaching Assistantships. Many professors have opened their students into their home for celebrations and classes. My graduate program is unique because the professors are intentional about investing in each of their students. They are what make my graduate program and experience worth it."

"The pros is that it is a clinically based program and you get to do an internship for a year and a half. The cons would be the lack of diversity and the amount of school work required with no extra time to be able to work outside of your internship and school hours."
