University of Phoenix is a pretty decent school. Academically it meets the criteria but financially not so much. The teachers were great! They were helpful throughout every course. I love that they are made available to you mostly 24/7. The financial part of things at UOP was kind of frustrating because when it came down to financial aid there were several problems that delayed my financial aid or required. The classes are good, most instructors are helpful in the area of assisting each student, most not all. The degree program allows for a wide area of study that may be of help if the student decided to change degree. But I have had nothing but problems with the financial aid advisors, each time my grant is in, the FA will not place the entire amount due in my account she is always very slow about it, (months delayed) and recently lost (somehow) over two hundred dollars out of my grant amount and I... Read More am yet waiting for this to be recovered and placed in my account. Every time I call, the FA is rude, abrupt, and one more than on occasion very insulting. I told her that as an online student I needed the funds to keep my internet up as so I could continue classes without missing any of them and she told me "that is not my problem" and actually hung up. No one has or will give any exact answers as to what has happened to the funds owed to me and each time I call I am treated very unkindly and very unprofessional.

I attended University of Phoenix for over a year, taking the Criminal Justice program. It came time for me to renew my financial aid paperwork and they let me start my classes. I had completed the classes and then they told me that my Financial aid paperwork didn't go through. Then they sent me a bill stating that I had to repay the two classes that I just took before I could continue to anymore classes. The text books are just redundant chapters explaining the same points. The Gamescape is probably the dumbest thing I have ever done. 8 substantive posts is hard to do with crap material. When I saw the UOPX famous alumni I was not impressed. I'm a vet and the UOPX changed my attendance 4 times and I was forced to take a LOA. UOPX told me I owe them over 400.00 and threatened to send that to collections. I'm trying to find a place to live so by putting that on my credit I'll be screwed. I called the... Read More VA debt management and they said I shouldn't owe UOPX anything. My academic advisor changed 4 times all with out notice and they never responded to my emails. My financial advisor was the rudest person I have ever dealt with. She, held my BAH for two months and my FASFA money so I didn't see that money for a while even after getting my COE and everything. My wounded warrior advocate had to step in and after she contacted the school my money magically appeared in my account. My VET friend is about to graduate from Ashworth we started at the same time and I was a year and a half away form graduating. Her experience with her school made me jealous. I dropped UOPX and will probably switch over to her school. If you do pick UOPX please make sure the accreditation is still active. I know 2 people that graduated from UOPX and their degree is not worth the paper it's printed on. I don't want someone to pay tons of money only to have their degree be worthless. I hope this information helps you. Also, definitely make sure the school you choose is accredited and employers will actually be impressed by the school you graduated from.

I attended UOP from 2005-2008. I was trying to get an AAS in Criminal Justice. After they talked me into "a small student loan" I realized after 4 "semesters" that I owed $10000.00 in student loans- makes it worse that I was told my grants paid for most of it. I dropped out of this POS because everyone told me their degrees were worthless. I know this is true cuz no one I know that has one of their degrees has a job in that field. Plus they charge $785 per credit hour- A COMMUNITY COLLEGE CHARGES... Read More $150! Even a four year that has 2 year programs charges ONLY $386. When I realized I was getting ripped off I dropped out. Makes it worse I was homeless attending this school and they harassed me for 2 years over $3000 I didn't owe! Finally get that taken care of and I couldn't pay my loans so they defaulted. I got them into Income Based Repayment so I could go back to school. I'm enrolled at my local community college and have been for 4 years now. I will graduate this May with an AS in Social Sciences and an AAS in Paralegal Studies. My entire AS and part of my AAS will transfer into my BA I will be completing next year in Criminal Justice. The best part of all- I had credit for English 112, Student Development 100, and a Philosophy credit. Out of the "26" credits I attended, I got 7 credits transferred into the community college.
