The University of Phoenix, by all means, is a good school. When put into perspective why this school came to be what it is, it is for the working adult. We have to make the time that works best for us and use that as an opportunity to learn the material and pass our classes. I make this point because there are comments regarding the teaching style. Yet, many need to remember that as working individuals, we cannot attend classes at a specific time along with other students; this idea defeats the purpose... Read More of the school being for those who need an education path that fits their schedule. Additionally, when it comes to the idea that you do not have a job or did not get the job you wanted, ask yourself, "What did I do apart from the degree?". Did you begin to grow within your field? Or look for internships? Did you try to get certifications along with your degree? These are not the certificates the school offers but actual professional certifications; there is a difference. The University of Phoenix has helped me understand my field more than I thought. The ability to work at my own pace while working a full-time job, sometimes an additional part-time job, works for me and makes sense as to why the coursework is structured the way it is. However, the tuition paid for the degrees does not equal the quality of the institution and degree. Paying the expected price of an established, reputable institution, including the cost of attending in person, does not make sense in the case of attending an online institution, which already has a bad reputation for being called a greedy school. Ultimately, it all depends on what you make of the experience. From the time you start your degree, the extra work and hours you put in apart from it. It makes all the difference after obtaining or while you are in the process of obtaining your degree. It takes more than a degree to get the job.

It was truly the worst mistake of my life choosing this school for my education. My bachelors degree is costing me 55 thousand dollars and I’m teaching myself. There is no instruction from professors. I thought there would be some kind of virtual classroom environment where professors actually teach, but nope. You have your textbooks and your assignments and you’re basically on your own. If you reach out to professors about struggling with the material, you’re met with encouraging words to keep going….... I’m not sure what I’m paying for other than access to textbooks and the piece of paper degree, which now I hear isn’t worth much coming from university of phoenix. Apparently employers laugh at degrees from here, so who knows if i’ll even be able to find a job with it. My first 3/4 years were filled with filler classes that had absolutely nothing to do with my degree. I graduate in 11 months and i’m JUST starting to get into classes that have to do with my field. I’ve had some errors occur with the finance department as well. I feel like all college is a scam, but particularly this one. Only out for money.

The curriculum and instructors are great and I would recommend U of Phoenix on those aspects. But I will warn that this is a for-profit school and I had the misfortune of dealing with the financial departments shady and aggressive tactics. I recently re-enrolled to finish my BS and that process went smooth. I had already completed the first week of class when I found they had charged my debit card on file $1194.00. When I called to find out why, I was informed my financial aid didnt go through so... Read More I am now out-of-pocket. I was not informed of this, and it seriously overdrafted my bank account so I went back into the portal to withdraw from my program and remove my card from my account. I knew that I didnt stand a snowballs chance at recovering that money, so I ate it and moved on. Flash forward 4 weeks later and I find ANOTHER $1194 drafted out of my bank account, just as I was recovering from the last charge. Now Im being told I never withdrew, even though I only completed 1 week of the last semester so that in itself shouldve been a system generated withdraw. I demanded my money back and that went nowhere. So I called my bank to dispute, got a credit while they investigated, only to have the charge reappear 2 weeks later because they somehow forced it through and the bank had to allow it, whatever that means. Im still dealing with this issue and had to cancel my debit card so they cant keep charging it (and I have no idea how they were able to charge it the second time, I double checked and that card was successfully deleted from my account).

I think University of Phoenix, is perfect for individuals who have a very busy life. Throughout the time that I was in school, I worked a full time job, tried to take care of things at my household, and was also working on becoming healthier. I was able to do all three things with no negative impact on my grades. They would contact me and make sure I was doing everything in my power to be successful throughout the program. I'm very thankful that I decided to go back to school and pursue my degree through University of Phoenix. It is very true when they say they want to help you succeed and will be there for you every step of the way. That's one of the main reasons behind me choosing them as my Graduate School as well.

I just completed my Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, and it was very pleasant - challenging but pleasant. I made many friends during my four years at the University of Phoenix, and I must admit that the advisors and professors were very skilled (most of whom had a CPA or Ph.D. and worked in the field). Overall, I did 40 courses that expanded my knowledge in accounting, finance, economics, and management. However, the time and energy took its toll. In the end, my final GPA was 3.93. Yes, you have the convenience of it being online; however, it requires a lot of discipline, study and research, personal devotion, and money. Ideal for professionals and people with time constrictions.

This school made it easy to work full time and go to school full time which is great. I have a few issue just like anyone would have about a school. I was about two classes away from getting my bachelor's when I got a call stating that can not continue until I pay out of pocket because my loan and grants have ran out, I was really disappointed. they didn't tell me earlier I wish they told me at least six month earlier so I can make payments for that class. every time I call or get a call it seems... Read More like I have a whole new team helping me which in reality they couldn't help. I want to go on to get my masters but phoenix is really hard to work with. they don't communicate with you well. if you want anything to get done you have to be on top of it and call them consent. that's not what they are for they are suppose to help and make it easier for you to work and go to school.

I read many reviews before making my contribution. I got both associates and bachelor's degrees from UOP and I must say that I found the school very good. I have attended another university in the past and it pale in comparison. I always got my academic advisor, my instructors were always helpful, and my grade always reflected the work I put in. Dont attend this school! save your money and DO YOUR HOMEWORK!! THIS SCHOOL IS HORRIBLE!!! I started attending this school in February of 2012 and I am almost done but I honestly feel scammed. I was told I would have to pay 75k for a 5 year b.s. degree and now I have to pay 10 thousand more????? apparently each year according to "department of financial affairs" students are only entitled to 12500 per year and apparently I exceeded that. I finished my associate degree in accounting at University of Phoenix and started on my Bachelor degree this year. Tuition costs in the associate program were fair, but when I started the Bachelor program the costs almost doubled, and when the course costs did not take all of my student funding the tuition and materials costs were increased by another $150, and now on top of student loans (unsub and sub) I have outstanding school charges as well. I received my degree after being stuck in a mid-level accounting position earning about $35K, with no hope of advancement since all the positions above me required a Bachelor's in Accounting. Having already held multiple accounting positions, I wasn't sure what I could possibly gain from the degree that I hadn't already learned through real life experience. But realizing that I would never be able to advance my career without that "piece of paper", I decided to go for it. I chose University of Phoenix... Read More because it worked well with my life, having a full time job and somewhat of a social life. Also the five week courses meant I could "knock it out" a lot more quickly than some of the other traditional schools in my area could offer, plus I was able to transfer about 45 General Education credits that I had taken at a different college shortly after high school. In the end, I was pleased with the additional knowledge I had obtained through my studies at UOP. Most of my classes took place in a classroom setting. I only attended two or three classes online. The group projects are probably the most underrated feature of my entire UOP experience, as it is really no different than working on "real life" projects in business everyday. Many people complain about the slackers they were forced to deal with in their groups, but I have news for you, that is no different than you'll experience in real life, and I really feel, to this day, that having that experience at UOP has helped a lot. Plus much of the classwork I put toward other areas, such as business law, I find myself using to this day. My employer boosted my salary to about $45K immediately after I graduated and I was finally in a place I could be considered for advancement. The only problem is there were no positions opening up, so after about two years, I decided to move on. My on the job experience and my UOP degree helped me land a VP level position making about $70K, and now, 9 years after I earned my degree, I am in charge of an accounting department making about $98K. So I'd have to say being able to nearly triple my initial salary in 9 years has been well worth it. I really doubt I would have been able to do it without my degree. Thanks UOP!
