If you are looking to get a degree in IT, do not go here. Don't attend this school in person, online, or hybrid. The degree itself is worthless here because you don't have any of the certifications you need to land a job in the field. Every single job that you are going to apply for, requires some type of certification. They don't care that you have a degree because that doesn't prove you know what you are doing. The certifications will. I only completed my degree here at UOP because I was already... Read More

If you are looking to get a Bachelors degree in Information Technology, I would highly consider you to reconsider. At least reconsider as to what school your going to. I completed my bachelors in Information Technology here at UOP, but what I have learned is that it's useless. I walked away with a single cert, and nothing more which as you may already know, in the IT world. They care very heavy on certs. And you need at the very least the very basic certs such as A+. I got a bachelors in information... Read More

Overall I'd say my learning experience at UoP was a positive one. Even though I was juggling between work and school, I managed to successfully graduate from my program. The only down side was the online classes weren't really student focused as you'd imagine. So you get all these information to absorb and all these assignments and tests to do at the same time. Good thing is there are tonnes of UoP study resources & assignment help services out there. One that I found most helpful was uop-assignments.com.... Read More

I love attending UOP online with my busy schedule of working and being a wife. UOP is a National accredited online college. The course work is very hard which pushed me to study harder. Don’t expect UOP instructors to hold your hand , this is something you’re going to have to do yourself as in the real world, and in the real workplace . UOP learning is intensive as is the work place . A Phoenix will fall down and rise up, However, it depends on your hard work and dedication to earn your wings. I... Read More

The degree helped me to advance in my career, not because of the knowledge that I gained, but because of the actual piece of paper. Employers are still entirely focused on what degrees a candidate has, instead of their actual productivity, experience, creativity, and willingness to learn. What a shame. Well, I played the game, spent the money (took 10 years to pay off the student loans) and it led to employers actually considering me for a job. I learned way more on the job than in this school. The... Read More

Let me first state that I am still currently enrolled in UOP online. With that being said, I am disgusted by the way this college runs its financial aid department. This is really the only issue that I have had since I have been enrolled in online courses. I have been going here for 2 years now and have had to take 4 (5 week) LOA's because of the incompetence of the financial aid office. If you would like to receive your financial aid 4 months after you are supposed to and enjoy filling out paperwork... Read More

I enjoyed the school; there's a lot of material and if you're willing to push yourself you will do fine here. Some students do not give 100%. The specializations are helpful, and all of the courses align with industry standards (such as several CompTIA and Oracle exams). Down side- students aren't required to complete all of the course material. I work in the software field and the program has helped improve my work performance, helped me get a promotion, and has paved the way for a great career.... Read More

I had a great experience at UoP. I filled out a form to get more info and had someone contact me. He did not give up on having me sign up. Some people would call it pushy but I don't. If he had not been persistent I probably would not have followed through and not have the wonderful job I have now because I got my bachelor's. Online schooling is not for everyone. You need to be motivated to keep going. I had two jobs and would definitely not feel like doing school work until 2 am but I did it. I... Read More

Being active duty military my time is limited, and like anyone else who is taking time to work on a degree while fully employed or raising a family you have little time to spare.... I am utterly appalled by UOP and how they are handling their finance department. I can not explain without rambling on at this point about how disappointed I am with them and how they've managed my money and wasted my time, two very valuable things. I use to recommend UOP to my shipmates in the military and even considered... Read More

UoP was a great experience and allowed me to start a career in IT. I wouldn't recommend this school to everyone nor any school. There is no hand holding, no babying, and no excuses. You are given assignments, due dates, and all the proper material to perform. It is completely up to you whether you succeed or fail. I saw loads of people wash out. So, this is definitely not a pay for your degree, no work institution. The lessons taught have been applicable to my career each day. One of the most valuable... Read More

My instructors did not give me help where I needed it, some even did the work and just had us submit it. They did not teach how to utilize the resources they provided or how to access them. I had a new adviser every couple of months and in my last year the school messed up my Fafsa and put me on an LOA repeatedly, did not tell me they couldn't process my funds while they had me on this LOA and made my last class take me a year to complete.

Like any online University, even the ones associated with a big name brick and mortar ones, you only get out of it what you put in. If you apply yourself and work with your classmates you will learn and grow. The faculty are experienced in the real world and come from all sectors of private industry. Personally, I enjoyed my experience with UoP and I believe it helped me do my job better and grow professionally.

With the way the world of technology changes everyday the information technology program I am taking at the University of Phoenix will have me in the right place where I want and need to be when I graduate in late 2017. The interaction that I have with my instructors and other students gives me the comfort level that I can do this and that I am ready for the changes in technology that happens everyday.

I signed up for the Bachelors of Science Information Technology with Advanced Multimedia. Up front I asked for a curriculum. I was sent a link to the degree courses. After I had signed up, I noticed that only 5 courses out of the 27 courses were set up for me that applied to what I wanted to learn. Then I get this email from my academic advisor that 5 of my courses have now been combined in to just 1 course. So the Flash, Dreamweaver, courses were taken away and combined into 1 class. So you know... Read More

I for one am really upset about all the bad press that UOP is getting. Maybe, as a for-profit organization, they have done some things wrong in the interest of making those profits. OK, I get that. But I can only speak about my won experience: I have worked in the IT field all my adult life, having earned an Associate's Degree WAY back in the early 1980s. But the IT field changes so quickly, I realized that if I wanted to keep myself relevant, I needed to upgrade my education. Because my job requires... Read More

This is not by any means a technical college. Certifications in the IT field will go a long way further in this career field than a Bachelors from here.

DO not waste your time with the school. They tell you it is easy for the working class, and the first three mandatory classes are easy, but once you get into the real classes, the technology takes a dive. For instance, I was able to read the text on my phone and tablet. This was great for work and times I was commuting or had free time, I could do some reading. After I started the core classes, this option was usually not available, and you could only read on a laptop or computer that allowed you... Read More

The classes and instructors were very similar to the experiences my friends who went to traditional colleges experienced. The majority of instructors were very helpful, but some were only in it for the paycheck. As long as you focus on your assignments the work load is not very difficult, but it is not an automatic degree just for signing up.

University of Phoenix would rather sign up students for a lifetime of student loan debt than provide a quality education. The method does not counsel the individual, but acts as a mill. The content was survey level at best and did not prepare me for a workplace job in the field.
