The University of Phoenix offered diversity of online learning programs to meet the needs of different students and preferable learning programs. My masters was on educational learning programs. The professors were very professional in making sure that we meet all the requirements for getting a masters in education. The educational programs provided were of great help when I was working in the department of education. It gives me excellent opportunity to improve myself and be able to provide assistance to other colleagues in the schools. After getting my masters, I was able to work at the curriculum office to review standards and learning outcomes for students. I had the opportunity to supervise and trained teachers to apply effective teaching strategies in the classrooms. All in all, it was effective learning experiences from college that had the opportunity to apply in the workplace.

I received my MBA from University of Phoenix in 2013. That experience was very streamlined and I enjoyed the program. I recently decided that I would go back for my Master of Education this year. I was wrong, this has been the worst decision that I could have ever made. In their effort to become better, actually made it worst. I finally spoke with an education specialist, that I didnt know I had, that tells me I am to go through a placement dept! WTF when was I supposed to get the memo that a placement dept existed! I am past fed up with this institution! After this class, I am completely done! I will never return!

I went to the University of Phoenix (UOP) to become an elementary school. UOP taught the minimum of knowledge and skills. They do not prepare you for the tests (CSET, TPAs 1-4, or RICA) or teach you much on teaching. Because they do not give exams, there's no pressure for you to learn or study. I have finished all my courses in their master's program and received 3.83 GPA, but because I am having to learn reading skills for children on my own, I need to wait to take RICA. If you're considering going there, do some research and interview current students and, if you're serious, find if they learning as much as the students who are going to a public university) The government allows these schools to remain in business, but they and UOP know that UOP is a fake school.

I cannot begin to explain the atrocity that is University of Phoenix. Short and sweet, DO NOT ATTEND THIS "COLLEGE" it is a business, a business to steal your money and time. Just read the reviews on other sites and you will see a trend, these recent positive reviews are not at all true, because of the huge situation that is going on at the school right now. I am starving and out of money because of this place, they have delayed financial aid and claim it is a systems error yet, we (and I mean 95%... Read More of students) have gotten notice that our financial aid would be disbursed on a certain date and it is now so far past the date that people are homeless because of their lies! I have received financial aid three times since attending and each time I have had the worst experience. I received my undergrad at a California State University from 2008-2012 and never have I EVER had such a horrible and sketchy experience as I have with UOPx. I am on my very last class before I need to complete my student teaching and I cannot even get online to do my homework because I do not have internet due to the fact I budgeted in my refund to be able to open a new internet account. That is what the money is for right? School supplies? LOL. So now I am on the verge of failing my very last class because they are holding my refund with no absolute answer why. I turned in my paperwork months and months ago, and the portal tells me I have not....I call my financial advisor and someone else picks up because you never have ONE adviser at UOPx, you have 5 in a given year. So no one has an exact answer because they all have different students. Anyway, they tell me it is just a systems error and my refund will be in next week (august 5)...that was July 25th...Now we are being told everyone's process is different...ok well the CSU i attended had well over 50,000 students and they were still somehow able to get our refunds sent out on time as well as pay for the classes in a timely manner, while this school can't even get the paperwork right? The horror stories are real, the lies are real and this school is a joke. I wish I had done way more research before jumping in because I was so excited to better my future. Well they got what they wanted, a blind citizen who walked into a money hoarding pit and the higher ups get to sit on their piles of money they stole from us. DO NOT GO HERE YOU WILL REGRET IT.

Completed my Master of Arts degree in 2006 at UOP online. Prior to enrolling, I did my homework. I have so sympathy for students who enroll in an online program in their desired field who then turn around later and blame the school for "tricking" them. I am talking about students who have student loan debt and complain that the degree is worthless because they cannot find a job. No University guarantees a job. You have to do your own footwork, your own networking. I am also talking about students... Read More who blame the college for not sending their stipend out on time to pay their electric bill. How were the utility bills being paid before they became a student? These programs are designed for working adults. I called the Dept of Education in my State prior to enrolling at UOP to find out if a degree from this school would allow me to become a certified teacher in my state. I was informed that as long as the University is regionally accredited....which UOP is. The courses were challenging, instructors worked in the field, and when I finished I felt that I had learned a lot. This was really evident to me when I did my Internship in a 3rd grade classroom and I hit the ground running. I did a great job, passed the state exams for certification and the whole experience was very rewarding. So my message to you is first do your research on the field you are interested, and find out what the job prospects look like. You can do your research by pulling up the Dept Of Labor Statistics Occupational a Handbook. If you are a person who is not willing to do your homework first, and not willing to do the footwork that it takes to get hired, then don't enroll in this college or any college for that matter. Why would you knowingly agree to accumulate debt and then choose to become a victim?

So I spent six months looking at schools both online and brick and morter. I have three children and I work as a substitute teacher nearly full time. I needed a school that would teach me what I wanted to know, and that would further my career as a teacher, without requiring me to spend all my time on campus. This school is regionally accredited and has contacts in my state to let me do my student teaching. I am about a third of the way done with my program and have had little to no trouble completing... Read More my classes. This isn't to say that they are easy. On the contrary, these classes are challenging. However, I wouldn't want it any other way. If I can't get ahold of somebody quickly through email, such as one lady complained about, then I just call. If I don't reach my person, I still can get help immediately. My local district is already talking about where they would like me to work when I finish my degree. I pretty much have a guaranteed job, which is partially because I am a substitute for the district, and partially because they are pleased I am working on completing my degree. I would recommend this school to those who have busy lives and still want to get a degree. You may run into a few students who really don't care early in your program, but a little ways in, these have been weeded out and you only end up working with serious students.

I had a terrible experience with the University of Phoenix. The majority of the posts were repetitive, banal, and short. You really didn't have to think hard to have your post accepted. I ended up doing most of the essay work when my teammates dropped the ball. I waited almost a year for my first student teaching. They gave me a crazy psychotic lady. Serious, she was a math teacher who would have the students play soccer, basketball, and guitar hero. My student teaching also changed twice. The last... Read More time they changed my program to an Independent study and failed me five days later, and I didn't talk to the teacher or have any work assigned during this period..

I loved everything about my experience, including the dreaded team work, which prepared me to work with a diverse group of people. I love how attentive my advisors were and my only complaint would be the cost, but I was able to find a job in my field before graduating and the online program allowed me to continue as a full-time student while I worked.

I am happy with my degree choice and may consider another... Read More one in the far future.

My adult daughter goes to a state university and although it is cheaper she does not have the kind of support from the advisors, financial assistance or even instructors that I had attending University of Phoenix, it is very different. If you are a student who may desire a more supportive team during your education you should definitely consider UOP!
