University of Puget Sound Reviews
I loved the rigor that my professors brought to my classes. The professors at UPS are generally highly competent and committed to giving their students a quality education. At UPS, I found it doable to balance my academic commitments, my extra curricular activities, and my social life.
The University of Puget Sound is a small campus with devoted staff, advisers, and professors. The professors take time to meet with you, to provide help, and to help with research. The curriculum can be challenging at times but high expectations help students to become better prepared for graduate school or for a career in their field of study. The alumni are involved in helping to network and assists students with career paths and employment after graduation.
The advantage of this small liberal arts college for science majors is small classes and plentiful instrument time. As an undergraduate in regular classes you will work on GCMS, LCMS, HPLC, NMR and more. The disadvantage is that there is not the same opportunities for networking as at larger universities that have science masters and PhD programs on site, however graduates have gone on to obtain graduate prestigious programs at excellent institutions.
It's beautiful and has a wonderful community. The college keeps its student body at around 2000, so it feels teeny and comfortable. Professors are super involved, class sizes are small, and there are a lot of resources to succeed. Best programs to major in at this school would be chem/bio, music, psych, or politics, but there are hidden gems in every department. They also have master programs for education and OT/PT. Please do your research, though! This school is extremely costly, as it is small and private. I would not recommend attending unless you manage to get a nicely sized scholarship and/or financial aid package.
I loved the college I went to and the relationships I made while in school. However, I wish I had chosen a degree that would have helped me find a better paying job after I graduated.
UPS was an amazing school. The community environment was wonderful. Class sizes were small. Professors genuinely care about you as a student. Lots of science research and internship opportunities are available.
Awesome college, open minded people in a friendly yet competitive atmosphere. Lots of people from all walks of life.
Puget Sound is an incredible community, from its passionate student body to its dedicated faculty.
I loved it. A real sense of community and respect for the students. There is something for everyone and it is very inclusive.
Students are not required to declare majors until the end of sophomore year, so we all had some time to take courses from all kinds of programs and see if they are interesing. CS faculty are helpful, nice and knowledgeable. They care about students and try to help in every possible way. Very accessible!
