"This program focuses on a very academic view on psychology. With a degree in this program, you will have a strong foundation in psychology. However, networking opportunities are poor, and directed only at social/academic work. Program also does not leave students prepared for a career within the large umbrella of psychology, such as HR, Sales, Marketing, PR... etc. If you are coming into the program looking for something very psych-specific and planning for going to a graduate/phd program in psychology, this is the program for you!"

"The University of Washington prepared me to be the best graduate school candidate. Despite the large class sizes, majority of the professors were excellent and truly cared about student learning. The course work was challenging however, each departments have great support for students who are looking for academic help. My classes and extracurriculars gave me the opportunity to develop skills in research, networking, applying what we learned at school. The UW has great academic programs, the student organizations, student support, study abroad opportunities, student community, and excellent faculty and staff. UW is a resourceful facility with incredibly qualified staff. The UW is beautiful school. Location is very close to the downtown Seattle and there are many places to go to. Also, the nature and parks are very close from school. Transportations are best with student ID card and students can even take the Water taxi in Seattle with the valid school ID."

"I loved attending UW. I did not think I would like going to such a large university, but I found it to be fairly easy to meet people by getting involved in small groups, through classes, and living with other students. I found that the Psychology advisers were not particularly great at helping me find the best practical fit for a career, or advising me on how to decide what career path to take specifically. But overall, I would wholeheartedly recommend going there."

"What a great place to get an education. Most of the professors are very accommodating to meet with students for questions or advising. I always felt like my education was important to them. UW Seattle is surrounded by such diverse medical community and getting an internship to study an area of interest is not difficult. Not to mention how gorgeous the campus is, especially the Quad during spring. It's a regular occurrence to see couples getting their engagement pictures taken."

"The University of Washington prepared me to be the best graduate school candidate I could be. The vast majority of my professors were excellent and truly cared about student learning. Despite the large class sizes, I always felt supported. The coursework was challenging but interesting and I feel very prepared to take on a graduate school workload. My classes and extracurriculars gave me the opportunity to develop skills in research, networking, writing, and critical thinking. Along with the academic programs, the student organizations and study abroad opportunities available are fantastic and allow each person to find their niche. I loved this school - go dawgs!"

"I was a double major in English Literature and Psychology and I had very different experiences with each program. UW is more known for their achievements in the field of Psychology, and so I had (mostly) very exceptional instructors in my Psychology classes. However, the English department is much smaller and not as well known, and so I had a much more poor experience. Most of my English classes were taught entirely by TA's (even upper level courses), some of whom had never taught before. In regards to financial aid, my family had an extremely difficult time dealing with their primary office. Often we would get transferred to three or four people in one phone call and none of the employees would be able to answer even basic questions about my financial aid package. If you are an out of state student hoping to receive in state tuition, you also have virtually no chance of ever having this approved. It's close to impossible to find information on the website to even see what the requirements are for in state tuition, and the university in general makes it extremely difficult to meet these requirements. All in all, my experience with the University of Washington was very hit and miss."

"I definitely appreciated the smaller classes with more discussion and hands on learning. It is very important to know your learning style & find a school that fits your needs. It's silly to go to a school where you are 1 of 1,000+ in a lecture hall when you are a hands on learner like myself. I learned the hard way!"

"There were some great classes and there were some classes that were not very good. Most of the classes were very large and you spent part of the time in the large class being taught by the professors and part of the time in a smaller class setting being led by a teacher's assistant. There are a lot of resources available to help you succeed and figure out what you want to do after you graduate so make sure to check those out."

"UW is a great school overall. Due to it's large size, some people feel lost or feel like class sizes are too large, but I enjoy the benefits of going to a large school such as a wide variety of course options and many opportunities offered to students such as study abroad trips and internships. I have had a positive experience overall at the University of Washington."

"Tell us about your college experience.I really had a good college experience. I made a lot of good friends and had a lot of fun. I did feel I went to a school that was too large for me because I felt like I was often forgotten in classes and it was hard to form relationships with the teachers and other students.Would you get the same degree if you could start over?I enjoyed psychology a lot and the classes, however it is very difficult finding a job with a vague degree as such. Looking back now I feel like I should have picked a more appliable degree such as accounting or computer science. I feel as though my degree didn't really help jump-start me into finding a career and now I am still searching for one. What advice can you offer other students?I would tell them that they should choose a school size that fits for them. I went to a huge university and although I enjoyed my experience I think I would have learned more and had a better experience at a smaller college expecially since I came from a small high school. I also would tell them to choose a major that can possibly be more appklicable in the work force as well as something they enjoy learning."
