Walden is not a university that is student-centered. Working through the coursework is straightforward. The majority of the instructors have been there too long and too comfortable with the 'job'. Your goals to have a true mentor to walk you through the process with frequent communication to complete your final project is NONEXISTENT. You could take change your competing priorities and dedicate 100% of your time to the final project and it will not be enough because you MAY have a section approved within 8 weeks and moving on to the next is not their structure. Now you are at this critical point in your education and you have no way out? You are not going to start another program. Do yourself a big favor and find yourself a university that is consistent in its outcomes where there is a bonafide mentorship through your dissertation and an alignment between you, the university professors, and the review committee to achieve the end goal.

Walden University were being investigated by the US Dept. Of Justice which along with Internet slowdowns during to everyone working online during the covid pandemic, made learning slow. The university kept rejecting my dissertation proposals for a few errors at a time with very little feedback of what was wrong, it felt like a delay tactic, because I had to pay tuition regardless of their lack of teaching. I was told via an email total tuition qas $31k out of pocket. Ive already paid that yet Walden wont honor it. I have this in formal emails and other correspondence, including a formal cost estimate prior to starting. I even asked for clarification if the costs were correct and a senior enrollment advisor, as well as a manager confirmed it. For 3 months all I received was the run around towards the end of my program. Billing department will not communicate with me. You cant reach their billing department... Read More via phone, and when you call financial aid office, they cant transfer you to billing, and can only relay a message and give you a case number. I recently hired an attorney to deal with this. My attorney is taking my case with no money up front due to obvious email communications that show out of pocket costs. He is amazed Walden wont honor the qoute when its in writing. I will be finishing my degree at Walden, then I will be suing them in civil court.

I enjoyed the classes at Walden University, they were challenging and I learned valuable information. The issue I have with Walden is that they state you should strive for five 9000 courses to graduate. I have not met one student who graduated with less than eight 9000 courses. I am currently over 80K dollars in debt and am not done. I believe the school misrepresents the time frame to graduate and complete the program. I would not recommend this for-profit institution for a doctoral program. Please do your homework before you enroll in the school. Also, be prepared to spend more than what your school loans provide. They recommend that you hire a editor which is out of pocket. I am trying to provide a honest review because many of the students have experienced the same issues at Walden. Walden's DBA program does not carry the same weight after graduation as other schools, I am learning that now as I apply for positions.

I recently graduated from Walden University with a doctoral degree in business administration. I think that the program was manageable and challenging. I was able to complete my degree in a little less than three years, but the process was not easy as I am also employed full time. Not sure why others are bashing the program. I had a good experience with the DBA program at Walden. The courses were challenges, the staff was supportive, I learned a lot, and I finished my dissertation on time (actually a semester earlier than required). I know that sometimes for profit schools get a bad rep but it worked out great for me. Completed all courses with a 4.0 GPA. Dissertation during process the school changed my committee chair 4 times! Last chair, Dr. Keepers was the least professional and knowledgeable who did not follow the rubric. Spent over $200,000 without completing my dissertation! Do NOT, I repeat do NOT go to this FOR-PROFIT school. The amount of negativity is laughable to me. Like everyone else has said, Walden is not going to hold your hand at every step. Besides, you are a grown up making childish excuses for things that could easily have been prevented through communication and being proactive. In the beginning I was given an incompetent mentor who could not edit properly. After the 3rd submission the advisor found mistakes that should have been picked up in the first review. After a long headache of complaining for a year, I was reassigned to another advisor. She was good then when I pointed a flaw in one of her edits, she avenged herself by lowering my class grade. I have a perfect 4.0. Half the committee members never attended any oral presentations but wanted their names on the dissertation.... The institute continued to enroll into so-called 900 classes for more tuition. i would have completed every requirement in 1.5 years instead of the lengthy time, Then the refund was promised but never given. After multiple attempts to contact the Bursar, I requested higher admin to intervene but they refused. My study was passed in the first round while I knew there were flaws. Congratulations were passed to me by everyone, Suddenly they all woke up and responded. However, the refund department continued to ignore my requests. Then after exhausting all my attempts to get the refund. I brought to their attention that they had passed a study which was flawed. Instead of listening to my concerns, they started condemning me for bringing up. Moreover, they enrolled me in yet additional classes. I told them I have no interest so remove the course but no one is responding!!!

Walden University is a good school that puts the student at the center and enhances professional maturity. This kind of arrangement is not suitable for all students especially those that are still raw and yet to mature in life. It is very important to know why one embarks on advanced education.
