Degree: English
Graduation Year: 2021

I am 3 courses in and utilizing my work tuition benefits and grants. For this part I can be really great ful as I am not paying anything out of pocket. My first and second courses, which I found to be obnoxiously pointless but not difficult were learning how to learn and learning about buying a computer and online safety etc....while there were some interesting things, I felt like they were a waste of time. The instructors were at least engaging and prompt with feedback, grades, and responses to inquiries. I got to my third course and the experience has been completely different. Not only does my instructor procrastinate in getting back to me, she fails to provide grades and feedback in time for the following weeks assignments so you are unable to verify you are doing things correctly. When I email the instructor my concerns they are either ignored or only certain. Aspects are addressed, anything that is critical of her methods is glossed over. I had issues from the first week and tried to transfer to a different instructor as I felt that I was being disrespected and treated like I did not matter. Rather than acknowledge that she dropped the ball she suggested I did not email her. I expressed my dissatisfaction in the classroom after additional issues and submitted an instructor issue report. Not even four hours after submitting my instructor issues report, the instructor emailed me in retaliation and said that she had concerns about my conduct and professionalism which she was forwarding to to my acedemic advisor and her supervisor as my behavior was threatening. Needless to say it was not and my advisor confirmed that, but public displays of being dissatisfied with your instructor are not allowed. The stress and frustration that this has caused makes me not want to continue. I am a wife and mom with a full-time job and health issues of my own and caring for my disabled parent and I have more than enough stress in my life and an instructor with a good complex and a demand for respect without warning it is not something I need in my life.

I feel like I was mislead again. I did everything that I was told to do by you and your staff at Ashford University only to be failed by your school just to increase my balance and get money. I was trying to make you aware that I did not want to start any courses until the balance of $6829 was cleared with my financial aid and loans. I was awarded over $9000 in grants, loans and fininacial aid which would have covered the balance due. No one went over the courses selected for me. I called financial services, student services, student advisor and yourself just to make you all aware of this. Your response was not to worry about any balance now, just do the work. I have done as told, with achieving an A average as my balance continued to increase weekly. I called many times to make everyone unaware that there may have been an error but I was passed around to different department. On August 1 my disbursements were applied to my account and it left a balance of about $2800 and I must pay it before I can complete any courses. I explained my situation to you and everyone else. I am a struggling single parent with only a part time job. My goal was to complete school so that I can get my degree towards getting a better job so that I will be able to take care of my family. I do not care if I do not receive any stipend. I just want a 0 balance so that I can complete school and you promised that. I am not in more debt and a financial bond. This has caused me much stress, depression, and I feel betrayed again by Ashford University. Getting my degree is my goal and my dream. You are taking that away from me. No one has returned my call since the monies was disbursed and your received you money. This is so unfair. What did I do wrong besides trust in you and your staff at Ashford University. Please refund or stop or any monies from my Financial Aid, Loans or Grants immediately. It has only been 3 weeks and your school is preventing me from continuing. Now they have that I owe $6000 after I cancelled my registration because they added more courses to my account.

I was billed in excess of 7K three months before I am scheduled for graduation. After constantly communicating with them and given various balances due then when I check my account to begin paying an "outstanding balance of 3K) I noticed that there were EFT debits to my account.. How am I supposed to pay off 7k in three months.. Now they will hold my degree hostage which will delay me sitting for my pm certifications. I am disgusted and disappointed with this University. No, I will not recommend this school to anyone anymore!

Degree: Healthcare Administration
Graduation Year: 2017

I had both good and bad experiences with Ashford University. In order to make it through classes you must apply yourself. I failed an Algebra two class and had to pay out of pocket! Yes, they had the funds I borrowed already allocated! The online tutoring was not helpful at all so be prepared to pay out of pocket for help; especially if you have not had math in quite some time or are weak in Math! You only get one full break for two weeks in December! You do have access to Career Services as well as your campus email. I dislike the constant emails and phone calls about Ashford's Masters program? My enrollment advisor moved on and I was given two more advisors; one of which was never available. I don't understand why so many advisors and for the most part; don't seem genuinely interested if you're having personal issues! They tend to answer you with words like; "Huh, aww, that's great and perfect"! Online is an improvement to brick and mortar and as a non-traditional student this made studying by myself and for myself memorable.

Degree: Education
Graduation Year: 2016

When I started at Ashford University as an Education major I was told that I would be able to become licensed in my state with student teaching and state testing after I graduated. This is completely untrue! If I want to become licensed I will have to complete a second Bachelor's degree. Ashford is ambiguous in their wording and my academic advisor assured me that I would be able to accomplish my goals through Ashford multiple times. Be careful if you choose to go to Ashford, they are predatory and will continue calling you and telling you what you want to hear in order to get you to attend school there. The teachers are usually unavailable and most grading is a complete joke. I made a few friends through my program and we all found that even those who would write in "text speech" or put complete non-sense in their papers would still receive a 90 or higher. A friend once wrote "monkeys like bananas because they are yellow" in the middle of an essay to see if the instructor would notice, he did not and then they continued to create even more odd sentences in the papers and nothing was ever said to him. Save your money and learn more somewhere else!

Degree: Environmental Studies
Graduation Year: 2015

Ashford is very good at financial services likely because they want your attendance and money (especially GI Bill). I had three amazing instructors during my degree. That's it. The rest could care less if you could coherently explain an idea using proper spelling, punctuation or grammar. A lot of content is superficially covered at a quick pace and is repetitive throughout the degree with very little being expounded on. Many of the instructors in the environmental degree were of a "group think" mentality and consider you disruptive if you voice an opinion or share facts contrary to their teaching material (which was heavily slanted). I used Ashford online after several relocations rendered my 100+ credits nearly useless (colleges picking and choosing which of my courses were comparable to theirs). Ashford was great about accepting my previous studies (90%) but in hindsight I understand why. One year into my degree with them it became apparent that attendance and minimal participation were the only requirements for passing. If all you care about is a participation trophy piece of paper, this college is for you. If you care about your education and it's viability in landing you a job, look elsewhere.

Degree: Health Information/Medical Records Administration/Administrator
Graduation Year: 2014

Ashford University has good instructors and teaching materials. But when it comes to finances the school is very terrible. The business office and some students advisors are very misleading. I have had some many lies and misinformation about finances and finacialaid which put me into debt. I have two courses left to complete my BA in Health and Human Services with specialization in Healthcare Informatics. At the beginning of my second to the last course they said I am owing and they withdrew my classes. I am trying to get money to pay and complete my balance courses and graduate with my degree. I DO NOT THINK I WILL EVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO THIS SCHOOL.

Degree: Psychology
Graduation Year: 2018

This college charged me for classes I was not enrolled in and they also changed my grade for classes I took. I wish that I had printed my information instead of trusting this school. My problem now is that I have a 10,000. dollar loan that this school has turned in and is on my credit. They are also taking my income tax for this loan that I should not have to owe. If I would have known about the lawsuit that was taking place I would have added my name to the list. So with all of this said I believe if they would clear my loan and dismiss it I would remove all of my comments that are negative against this college.

I would not recommend Ash U. 1st I have made mistakes with docs that are my fault. I take response for that. But when I enrolled my  advisor called me daily, he sent me emails, gave advice, and promised he'd always be available. Fast forward to after my probation period and my money was locked in. He disappeared. I emailed him 4 time the past 3 months, I called him 4 times, no returns at all. I asked someone else why and she said I have a new advisor who after 5 months of school never reached out or told me of her. That fine sort of, but why was the 1st guy promising to help me through my entire 4 years and doesn't even respond to me. They will put you in a column and you will only be a number to them. The problem is if I'm a just a number fine, just don't pretend to always help and respond so quickly until you get me locked in money wise only to be so unreachable. It's been a week and I still haven't heard from my new advisor since leaving her a voice message. I am having troubles and no one cares enough to invest a little extra time to help. I'm sure they will help eventually, but on their time and terms. only wish they showed true colors from the start. SO if you don't ever plan on running into trouble this school might work for you. But if you need transcripts, financial aid docs, or class assistance be weary. I am 1500 miles away from ash U. I would never let anyone go to a school you can only reach by phone again.
