"Online learning is not for everyone. You must be extremely dedicated and assertive to learning in order to succeed in this endeavor. However, this schools' online environment needs a great deal of improvement. I am in the Bachelors of Computer Science, and textbooks are largely out of date and the teaching staff monitors classes more than actually teaching.I have purchased several of their textbooks only for them never to be used in the classroom. The professors are apathetic and unjust in their grading. However, I do not believe this is their doing; it is the College's policies. 93% gives a student a 4.0, very reasonable, however, if you get a 92.5% your G.P.A. will be dropped to a 3.7! They take a point/percentage system, convert it to a letter grade and then convert it again to a numerical system. Severely flawed and unfavorable to students.Another thing to be said about Baker is their requirements of "gen ed" classes in the higher two years of the degree. There is no reason a Computer Science major should be required to take 400 level history and sociology classes.Overall I will NEVER recommend this college to any student. As it stands I am a holding a near 4.0 GPA and will work diligently to maintain it, but I do not feel I have learned anything from Baker College online. I've gained a severe disapproval for the academic community.Respectfully, Working Adult"

"If you are considering an online degree, Baker is definitely worth checking into! I just completed my Bachelor of Health Services Administration and I learned more at Baker than I did at two traditional Universities. The courses ARE time consuming because they are fast paced, but it is well worth it because you are receiving a quality education. The professors are highly educated and many of them can offer real life experience because they hold jobs in the field they teach in. The technology used for teaching online classes is very advanced and the classes are affordable. I had a great experience."

"I received my BS in Computer Information Systems from Baker College in 2006. There program was very encompassing and effective, they know how to take advantage of technology for the students, and can be quite demanding at times (this is good). Not all courses are a home run, but I took many course in traditional on-campus schools as well that were not the best. I'm currently pursing a MSIT at another online university and there are things that Baker was doing in 2004-06 that some online schools are not doing yet in 2009.In addition, their administration is very flexible with working adults, tuition assistance and military benefits. As with any program you will get what you put into it and Baker strives to gain that interaction from all of their students. Note that Baker is a traditional ‘brick and mortar’ school with the same regional certifications that major universities (like their neighboring Univ of Michigan and Michigan State schools). This accreditation is a major factor as many masters programs don’t recognize other accreditations. Their accreditation, technology, program, flexibility and speed make it a great choice."

"I am attending Baker as of right now and I have a teacher who is very pushy when it comes to post 10-15 post per week, which is a lot, and I had a professor who grades my papers, but doesn't write any reviews on what I did wrong or how i can improve my paper. Because I didn't post 15 post per week I lost a lot of points in my grades and now i am suffering."

"I was enrolled in this school and it was not a bad experience, the education was good but I have left because some of the instructors are not. I have had instructors that do not interact with their classes at all, which is ok if the students understand the subject matter but when they have questions students need the assistance of an instructor. Also, some instructors have too high of attendance requirements, I had one instructor that required 12 sessions per week (7 days), not quite what a working person can do."

"I'm currently enrolled in the online Bachelor's of Finance program. I've taken 7 classes so far (the entire Business Core minus one class). I'm very impressed with the subject matter and have learned quite a bit through reading and class interaction. However, I'm amazed at the poor quality of language usage, primarily from students but sometimes from professors. It would be one thing if the students were marked down in some way, but no mention is generally made of glaring spelling errors, heinously-written threads to the point that I have difficulty understanding what some students are trying to say, and grade-school level grammar. It's very disturbing to think that those people are getting degrees and are being set free into the world with the same degree I'm getting. This is why I'm shopping for a different school for my Master's Degree. I'm afraid my BA from this school won't make the great impression on future employers that I'm hoping for."

"My experience with Baker College was excellent. The students and teachers were easy to work with and made learning an enjoyable experience. The online classes were great because they allowed me to work at my own pace, and the coursework was easy to follow as well. Baker definately helped to prepare me for my career."

"Online learning is perfect for me due to my busy life and work schedule. Baker's online programs are designed to take advantage of technology. Their online courses provide education every bit as good as traditional campus classes. I had full access to Baker's libraries for research. Online chats, message boards and virtual classrooms allowed me to feel connected with my classmates and faculty. My degree in accounting has already paid off with increased pay and increased responsibility at work."
