Grand Canyon University Reviews - Bachelor's in NursingSee reviews of all programs at Grand Canyon University
All I can say is GCU s****. Avoid it at all costs. Talk to prior students, and above all, avoid Professor M. She doesn't know the policies of GCU and can't handle any confrontation without becoming abusive. When reported, the college does nothing. There's a lot more to the story too! The Internet is a wonderful thing...
This is an amazing university that offers top of the line products to use within the simulation lab. GCU is the only university in AZ that leads an immersive simulation program, which aids in the progression of the nursing practice. They teach off of evidence-based practice and make sure to keep information up-to-date. Very affordable! Staff and faculty are beyond supportive.
GCU seems very promising and, honestly, perfect when you first attend, but you quickly realize just how money-hungry the school is and how little they care about their students. While the campus if gorgeous and safe, faculty and leaders couldn't care less about the wellbeing of the students. Campus food is unreasonably overpriced (for example: a carton of eggs is $6), professors show no concern for struggles students are having outside of the classroom, and you aren't even allowed to temporarily park on campus to bring up your groceries without receiving a $150 ticket. The nursing program is disorganized, racist, and sets students up for failure. The program is more concerned about students representing the school well at clinical, then they are at actually teaching you how to be a nurse. I wish I would have attended ASU.
I atttended GCU in 2016, directly after I received my ADN from a city college. It was a totally different experience to me because for one; I had never done online classes. Also, I knew it would take alot of discipline to be able to obtain this degree. I started looking and the recruiter was very helpful to me. After I reached out for information she stayed in contact. I had let her know I would not be able to start until I received my official license. The day my license posted the recruiter called me again and asked if I was ready to start. I was very enthused by this because to me; it showed interest and concern. I ended up starting the same month I received my license. At first it was hard, and difficult. I was able to call my counselor hash out different things and for the most part my teachers were very understanding. The only part I regret is that I took all my classes one at at time. Seeing as though when my friends heard about the program, they immediately enrolled and doubled up on their classes. Either way I graduated with honors and I am ready to start over again with my MASTERS. This time I will double up LOL.
Do not waste your time with this RN-BSN program. The University manipulations the program adding classes and combining them so that they can get mire money from them. They do not care about you, your education, or the quality of their online instructors.
Great school and well organized. Loved the way the instructors treated us as students very respectful and also grades were turned in at timely manner. I feel that this was a great pick and I was able to work full-time and still apply myself with a great GPA score. I refer this school to anyone that is new and old to online learning.
I had to withdraw from the program due to a life event. They demanded I pay a huge amount of money to leave. I was making payments of $100 a month because thats what I could afford. They sent my account to collections anyway. If youre not rich they will distroy your credit. Please dont make the same mistake I did. Go to a university that cares about students and will work with them financially. I will always regret trying to better my education through GCU.
RN to BSN program. Mostly writing without real current application. Allowed an instructor that was very degrading to ASN nurses with a personal ax to grind with ASN nurses to be a professor in the program. Complaints were not addressed. Given this instructor was allowed to continue and in the capstone 490 class for graduation allowed for continued discrimination and degradation of mature ASN nurses pursuing a BSN degree to graduate. This is an antrosity to the development and growth of nurses in their pursuit of higher education and clearly against the ANA goals. Other professors were great and unfortunately the deliberate discrimination allowed of this one professor cannot allow me to recommend GCU. Discrimination of any type cannot be tolerated. This is from an A graduate regardless of the discrimination. Others were not so blessed. It left me distrustful of education institutions of religion nature.
PLEASE DONT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL A BUNCH OF SCAMMERS. All they care about is money. They could care less if you excel or fail they just want there money. I dealt with M. H. and J. B. They charge $2000 per class and do not care about anyones finances or financial hardship. They dont try and help you at all especially if you have things going on working full time kids etc. please dont waist your money on this school they preach about Christianity but just want your money .
Very disorganized. Found out I made the Presidents list...two months after I graduated on cheap copy paper I can't even frame. Got put on probation for posting a paper I wrote from a previous degree at another college saying I was promoting plagiarism. The instructors are hit or miss, my last one set everyone into groups for a group project that didn't exist and wouldn't answer questions and kept talking about deliverables and keeping it simple. Will not be going there for my MSN or recommending it to anyone else! Beware!
