National American University Online Reviews of Bachelor's in Information Technology

I have been attending NAU for a few years now. It has been a decent experience. I did a few in class courses and the rest have been online. I prefer the online classes as they are flexible. Cons about them are broken links to assignments sometimes and self motivation to get the work done. Academic advisors have been changed like 8 or 9 times for me seems like every quarter i get a new one as the old one leaves for a new job. I read so many bad reviews on here but it seems like bitter people who ran... Read More out of funding or didnt get things the way they wanted. I am sure other schools have the same problems as most of these people are experiencing. This is the only school i have been to and i feel it is worth the time if you have the funding to complete your degree.

My decision to attend this school was somewhat arbitrary, but it turned out well. I experienced pro's and con's during the process of getting my degree. First the pro's: I could hold a full time job, and get the degree I needed to further my career. Financial Aid was never a problem, and I generally got all the help from instructors I needed. The Con's: It cost a lot of money, but I knew that going in. I was pretty confident that I could make up that amount of money with improved income. The other... Read More Con was that I had at least three advisors in four years, and they became increasingly harder to contact. The last one did bail me out of a tough spot. I got to the senior year, and the very last class I needed was full. It might have meant waiting another whole year to get this class, which was not acceptable. This lady actually opened another class for me and several others, and allowed me to graduate on time. It bothers me that so many other people are dissatisfied. It makes me wonder if they did their homework before they enrolled in this school. Overall I feel that my expectations were met.

I attended the Denver campus in the late 80's. I used the GI Bill for the tuition, some of my own money for textbooks, and my employer paid the rest for the books. I truly believe that my instructors were great. This was a time when there was no online classes, so classroom attendance was absolutely necessary. In the early days of personal computers, research was somewhat limited, so library and textbook research was necessary. I received my BS-CIS and immediately received a substantial income increase.... Read More A masters program was not available at that time. My employer, Lockheed, fully approved of this school because of it's accreditation, and so did the GI Bill. No problems. I know times change and things may be different now, but during my time there, I was extremely satisfied. Other colleges/universities in Colorado readily accepted an education earned at NAU.

I have attended NAU for almost 3 years now, and I have not regretted this at all. If anyone is going to NAU that means they want to advance in their career, and to me that's amazing. I understand some of the other reviews about financial aid, but bashing the college all together doesn't make sense. You have an idea already what the school will cost as soon as you enrolled... If you put in the time, and you work your A** off. You will get a ton out of this school. So for those who complained and dropped out of NAU, good luck with your future, but for those who stuck it out and made it through, CONGRATS!!! And for those who are nervous that this school won't be taken seriously as some other schools... don't be. I have been to a handful of interviews and they are totally impressed about attending this school, and were amazed by my motivation. TRUST ME it will pay off.
