I personally found Ashford University to be a great online school. From the start, they helped me get everything together to enroll (from credits to be transferred to my financial aid). It was hard work. I say this because many people I know thought that just because I wasn't in a traditional setting that it would be easy. Read More and engaged with both my work and my virtual classrooms. Even though I do not have a job at this time, I know that one will come my way (I only graduated two months ago). I highly recommend Ashford University! I must also say that I personally worked for my degree in Business, so although I attended Ashford University, I also received my degree from the Forbes School of Business. Thanks to Ashford University's online program, I am sitting here today feeling as if I have accomplished something great in my life! I just received my degree in the mail today and have never been more excited!!

I am currently attending Ashford University and I really haven't had that many problems with the school.I read some of the comments.Someone basically stated that another person was fabricating about their educational experiences at Ashford.You can't say that.The area in which you live could make a difference in whether they accept Ashford's classes or not.The community college in my hometown does not accept any of Ashfords credits,but I now live in Texas,so I pray that my new school does accept them.... The only problems that I encountered at Ashford was dealing with my financial aid,and canceling my classes so that I can attend a college that better suits my educational needs.Other than that I haven't had any major problems.

The instructors are nice,as well as helpful.Ashford is what you make it to be(but that's any school).Why am I transferring?I am transferring in October because I can get my degree with a concentration at another school quicker than I can at Ashford.

Would I recommend this school?It all depends on your educational needs and wants.This school is too easy for me.I need something more challenging.

However,I would recommend this school to someone that is looking for an easy A (like my mother or grandmother).I hope this has been extremely helpful.

Well, it's difficult to know where to begin. The education at Ashford is ok, but if you want your credits to transfer to another school, they will transfer, but the majority will not transfer as the equivilant for what you need at your next school. For instance, most of my credits only transferred as general electives, and did not help my degree. It put me 1 1/2 years behind in my degree. However, that isn't my main complaint with Ashford, it's the complete lack of customer service when it comes... Read More to the financial aspect of school.

I first had problems right before I graduated. I was notified 2 weeks before I graduated that I didn't have enough money in loans to cover my tuition, and they advised me to take out a different kind of loan, which I apparently qualified for. I was told that the loan had to be applied for before I graduated so they rushed the paperwork, and I was told that all of my finances were in order and the loan did go through. This was in mid December 2011. Then on July 19th 2012 I received a final demand letter stating that I owed $995, and that if I did not pay within 10 days I would start accruing interest rates up to 33.33%. I have been on the phone all week trying to find out what was going on and I was told that the loan I took out in December was not accepted and was sent back to my lenders. I have been transferred to at least 10 different representatives and none of them can answer my questions about this issue. Keep in mind, that I have already graduated, and have my degree on my wall which according to Ashford rules you cannot have your degree untill all financial issues are resolved. Because of this problem, I have now not been allowed to have my official transcripts sent to the school I was going to attend this fall. Also, I possibly may have my credit ruined if the situation is not resolved. I do not have an extra $995 sitting around to pay this all at once. If i did I would never have taken the loan out in the first place.

While I'm on this topic. I also had another problem back in april with a final demand letter. They made ANOTHER mistake and refunded and extra $300 to me in a check, that I wasn't supposed to get. I had no way of knowing this, and I cashed the check, and put it in my savings account. Again, I received a final demand letter with no prior notice. I ended up just sending a check because I hadn't spent the money but it took weeks to figure out what happened in the first place. So please listen, I am not a person who doesn't pay their bills. I have very good credit and usually have very few complaints, but please if you want to save yourself a LOT of hassle and stress, DO NOT attend Ashford University! It is the worst experience I have ever had with a school. My mother and sister-in law also attended at the same time, and both had some issues of their own. Thank you for reading.

Ashford University was a great school for me. I graduated with my AS in business administration 2 days ago. AU offers an accelerated program in which classes are in five week intervals. Classes are fast paced due to the little time you have in each class. you must be able to read at least a 300 page text book as well as do the assignments with in a five week period. there are no final exams for any of the classes, rather there is a final essay due at the end of each class. When I first talked with the admissions advisor I did not know anything about online schooling and he was very informative. He did over exaggerate about how much greater the school was compared to other online universities though. Since graduating with my AS I have found many different schools offering the same program style for around the same price or more. I have also found there are more rigorous schools with extensive testing as well as group projects, and actual real time video lectures from the instructors. AU's instructures use a writen lecture format, and most provide outside sources and power point presentations to provide their students with additional information. There is also a ask you instructor tab that allows you to ask questions and recieve asnswers within a day or two. All of the instuctors also provide their personal email address so there are definantly ways to talk one on one with your instructor but sometimes it is hard to get exact answers in a short period of time, but this goes with just about every online format.

The school starts out easy to let you adjust to the format and as you progress through your classes the work load seems to gradually increase. This made it easy to adjust to the online format. You definantly have to be dedicated to your studies, although I have seen students turn in work full of grammar errors or did not pertain to the questions being asked in the assignment. I honestly cannot tell you what their GPA's looked like but I can tell you that I personally turned in work that reflected my best efforts and recieved a high GPA. The school only has a low success rate because they accept just about anyone into their school, whether or not you can complete the work and the classes is on you. It is a large school and the learning format will never be a problem for you because it is made to fit the busiest of schedules.

there textbooks are mostly all published by McGraw Hill so they are of high quality. which is good because your text book is going to be your best friend. The student service's are great, My academic advisor called me about twice a week during the first month. Since that time I probably had about 4 different academic advisors, they were all very informative and never left me waiting for a return call. my financial advisor was not the best at first but the next one around was good to me. I honestly did not need to seek out very much information from any of my advisors because they always kept me up to date on new information via email.

They offer a career center to help you find a job and build you resume. There are some very informative videos and instructions on the site for resume building. Some of the resume building videos are low quality and try to present resumes that are completely blurred out as an example for buiding your own resume. As for helping you build up a unique identity so that employers will want to hire you as oppossed to another graduate students they do not help you at all. Some other online schools integrate portfolio buiding into their classes and help you to build confidence in what you have learned. AU does not do this, you have keep track of what you have learned and do this for yourself. Although they do help you to find a job after you graduate, which many schools will not help with this because their name is on the line if you mess it up. Which is true, but their name will also be on your degree and resume so I believe that is just a formal way of dropping you after your done paying them. AU will not drop you you will beable to continue to access their reasources and personnel after you graduate.

overall I had a great experience with AU and I recommend in for all of you who have busy schedules and cannot make it to a brick and mortar school. You working adults, stay at home moms or dads, those of you in the military or dont like restrictions, in small towns with no avalible schools near by, and of course those of you who like to manage your own time, this may be the school for you. As for those of you looking for an afforable school I recommend attending a community college online or on campus for your associates degree and then moving on to a university for your BA it will save you at least a good 10 grand or more.
