The University of Arizona Global Campus Reviews of Bachelor's in Human Resources

UAGC seems to be a fairly polarizing school. Some people hate it, some people love it. For my personal experience, I felt like the school did a fine job at providing me an education and improving my future career prospects. I'll break down my review into different sections. STAFF AND FACULTY: My career advisor was great. She was extremely responsive and easy to get ahold of, she would send me occasional e-mails encouraging me to keep up my work and would praise me throughout my schoolwork citing... Read More my grades and effort. She worked with me to put together a class schedule that made the most sense and would best fit into my time requirements. INSTRUCTORS: Most of my instructors were good. None of them were exceptionally amazing, but also none of them were completely terrible. I would classify the instructors as average. Grading varied from teacher to teacher, but their grading rubrics were always transparent and provided you with an outline on what you needed to do in order to get a good grade. The curriculum is all self-taught. None of the classes I took had an online lecture option and they seemed to follow the trend of read the book, do a discussion board, write a couple papers, and repeat. The coursework consists of a lot of busy work like discussion boards, journals, and occasional quizzes (depending on the class). With UAGC being online, I expected the discussion boards. At the end of the day, discussion boards aren't difficult, just time consuming. All quizzes are open book and they do not do finals or end of course tests. CLASS STRUCTURE: Classes are 5 weeks and have a constant enrollment option which is great if you are active duty military and need to deploy or TDY. I took two classes every 5 weeks and found it to be manageable and never too overwhelming even with work. SUPPORT STRUCTURE: They provide an online library to view and read scholarly sources, provide free resources like Grammarly and Microsoft Office, and have plenty of tutoring/paper review services available. The paper review service had a very quick turnaround time; most of my papers were returned within 10 hours. Books are included with tuition and available online. PRICE: UAGC is affordable, especially with active duty military. They tuition match to $250 per semester hour and do not have a technology fee or book fee. They do charge for graduation, but it is only $150. If you attend the ceremony, you do need to purchase a cap and gown. OVERALL: I would consider recommending UAGC to other people if they are comfortable with a self-teaching environment. In terms of career aspects, I have not ran into any issues with UAGC on my resume or any problems getting an interview. I feel as though their curriculum is fine and the classes provide you with an appropriate amount of beginner knowledge to begin your career. Keep in mind, you aren't going to Harvard or even a state college. This is an online university catered towards working professionals and they do a good job at achieving that mission.

At first, Ashford seems like the perfect school. The admissions people are friendly and make the whole process so simple. The platform online is easy to use, though a bit glitchy, but easy to over look. They provide you with free Microsoft Office and Grammarly. Where they fell short with me is when the enrollment advisor, Ana Monroy, dropped the ball big time. She failed to submit the form that SHE had me fill out that would apply my 20% off tuition discount from my employer. On top of that, the... Read More $115 and $95 fees were to be waived as part of the corporate partnership they had with Ashford. These didn't get applied until just last week. That's almost 6 months after I started my FIRST class. This might not sound like a huge deal, but it snowballed into student debt that screwed me. See, if everything had gone the way it should have, the discounts would have been applied for the 4 classes of the term, plus my grant and student loans, my balance with Ashford would have been $90. I would've paid that and I would be at $0 and I could then submit my tuition reimbursement to my employer to help pay off those loans, that's just over $3,400, I was eligible for up to $5,200. Fast forward to now, I no longer work for said employer, so now because of Ashford's huge screw up I have some very unplanned debt, slowly accruing interest. The icing on the cake was 2 months in when I tried to talk to my advisor, Nicholas Schleicher, and the person in charge of the corporate discount disbursement, made me feel like I was crazy and that I needed to submit this form. I humored them and did it. It got declined because I wasn't eligible. Once they finally figured it all out, it took them almost 4 months to backdate everything and fix their mistake. I have officially de-enrolled from Ashford as I have learned they are not trust worthy. I do not recommend them. If you're considering Ashford, please be very very cautious and be persistent or you'll get no where. If I had just accepted the declination of discounts, I would be in a bigger hole. The amount of stress it caused is immeasurable. The way it affected me at work, was the worst, my boss saw me bawling after I finally told him why I haven't been myself that week. Now because of all this, my ex employer can't/won't honor my reimbursement. In summary, Ashford University sucks. They just suck.

I attended Ashford University trying to get my Bachelors in HR Management. It seemed like after I started one thing after another was happening. I had to have surgery, we had to move and many more things. They were not understanding at all. I was told I still had to complete the work even though I had surgery. I asked for a leave, they granted it, but then the leave never happened. When I asked what happened, I was told they made a mistake and I had to complete the next course. I was unable to and... I'm on track to graduate in June of 2018! Ashford accepted most of my college credits that I earned from other colleges and they gave me a good chunk of credits from my military service. This school is a great for people like me that have a full time job, family, and not a lot of time on my hands. I have completed 12 classes at Ashford University so far and will say I have been very satisfied with the way they do business. What I like most about Ashford University is there are so many resources to help me be successful. There is a lot of writing involved so be prepared to type! I'm currently taking "Introduction to Algebra" and I was so intimidated and scared that I almost dropped it. However, I gathered up the courage to try it and I have been acing the class so far. The best part about taking this class is that I have access to a math tutor 24/7! No kidding, you can call anytime on any day and a tutor will be there to assist you with whatever problem you have.

As a full time mom, wife, and teacher's assistant, the program at Ashford University fit into my lifestyle. I am not a disciplined individual so the strict, concise 5 week courses helped me stay on task. The cost of the school is comparable to other colleges except state run schools. I had issues accessing the online college a few times. All my teachers were great & understood when I had an issue getting online. My biggest complaint was receiving too many phone calls & emails from the college. I received 5 emails the same day from 5 different people at Ashford telling me to register for classes. I told them I felt like they were harassing me, & I only needed to hear from 1 person - only. They called me non-stop to the point to where I blocked the main college number from calling... Frustrated by my for-profit experience with University of Phoenix, I transferred to Ashford a couple of years ago. Although the cost of admission is high, the convenience of online education is priceless. The innovative technology that Ashford provides to students has truly contributed to my ability to excel in my educational goals. Forward thinking requires an open mind, Ashford University has provided a great deal of innovative resources for online learners. As far as accreditation, this school is in fact regionally accredited by WASC Senior College and University Commission. The WASC accreditation process aids institutions in developing and sustaining effective educational programs and assures the educational community, the general public, and other organizations that an accredited institution has met high standards of quality and effectiveness. If you're going to invest in your educational future, do your research before you believe what others say. Ashford's accreditation is comparable to some of the best private universities in the United States.

I felt compelled to write a review on behalf of Ashford University as a student and not an employee. All the negativity I have read is far from the opposite to my experience. My student advisor may have changed a few times, but who cares--as long as I have one. Read More not have known that my work offers tuition reimbursement and since they are accredited; my company pays up to $5,000 of the cost. Yes, I agree that the tuition cost is excessive; but then again,. so is the cost of technology. One can pay hundrerds of dollars for a smartphone (yearly), but is complaining about their cost for their future. I am nearing my junior year and I have nothing but good things to say about the staff. The instructors are quick to answer my questions and have even praised me on several occassions for my excellent work. I have not been in a school setting since 1996 and so, I was freaking out; however, Asfhord helped be get through it. I work 10-hour days----5 days a week and so, this has become a very flexible way I can learn and further my academic and professional career. My theory is, if you cannot follow the simple instructions and questions of an instruction, than one is not putting in their 110% effort. I say this because I hate math with a passion, which I always failed math; but yet, with the help of my teacher, classmate, and resources, I was able to pass the class with a 94% since I gave more than 110%. Moreover, because of this school, I have been inducted into 2 different well known honor societies since so far I have aced all my classes because of my drive for success. I find it interesting that people can complain when in fact, they have the choice to do whatever they please including how they spend their money. I do agree with the positive comments that unless you put your best foot forward and strive for success, you will fail in anything you do in life. In order to face the easy road to life, one must face turbalance and hardship to get there. Life was never meant to be easy, look what Jesus Christ (if you believe) endured for our sins. Overall, I am loving this school for getting me to have some college courses under my belt in oppose to just a high school diploma. Since I enrolled in school, my grades have granted me two HUGE raises. Therefore, for those that say that this school is not worth it, well it was to me because I get paid more than double than I was before beginning this school and it is not as hard as many make it out to be. Ashford University seemed to be the only online college that offered a degree to obtain my career goal. The enrollment adviser was great. I attended for a year, every week or so they change your Academic Advisers, Either Instructors do not care or are just idiots. I have not learned anything going to this joke of a school. The Library is a joke, you are required to use Scholarly Resources on all assignments including discussion post and they must be from the Ashford Library, however, none of the... Read More links in the library ever work. I got so tired and frustrated of trying to find an article that there is access to. You spend more time going to broken links than writing your final paper. The only person seems to know anything are the enrollment advisers, they are con artists and their goal is to get you stuck in courses and waste your money. They do a great job, everyone else working for Ashford got their degrees out of a cereal box, because if you write with any sign of intelligence they accuse you of Plagiarism even when you prove it is not through Turnitin.

Hi, I wondered about the online environment and wanted to return to school but work and family obligations made it difficult to attend a traditional college. I found the online at Ashford to be a worthy investment. I liked that it was also a brick and mortar school established in 1918. It is necessary to be able to provide good feedback to some that aren't at the same level as you. I say this in response to one of the posts I just read regarding Ashford. The post is from someone in Maryland (as I am) and the complaint is written in a way that suggests the person should have continued in the program. I had a lot of frustration with people that weren't putting in the work and I did challenge these individuals to not only think about what they were doing, but to pay attention to what they are writing -- I give no credit to the post that I mention given they have no credibility simply because of how poorly the post was written! None-the-less, I found my time at Ashford to be helpful and rewarding, a lot of work and a lot of time but certainly worth it to me. I plan to attend another online program for my MS degree and the school change is only for variety! I hope this helps -- do the research but weigh all the information. I can say, after some time at Ashford I was pleasantly surprised by the Forbes joining the University. I think it adds to the legitimacy of the program.

Disliked the school and had problems with Financial Aid. They made an error on my financial aid and then requested the amount due after graduation. No problem except every time I called in they gave me a different reason it was owed. After they sent to collections I disputed the amount and finally got a solid explanation of what happened. Happy to pay what is owed in payments; however, collections wants me to pay 3x what my school loan payment is and they are still going to report it as in collections.... Read More Thanks Ashford!
