"As with every thing in life, college programs have many pros and cons. This program is no different. Today, I will share with you what I belive are the main three pros and two cons of this program. These aspects will focus on the specifics of the program. The pros of this particular Graduate Program are advisor support, circirulm difficulty, and technology use in courses. The advisor support, for me, in this program is one of best aspects. My advisor cares about me and my success in completing this course and becoming qualified to teach. My advisor, she, is always available to talk. If unable to make it to her office hours she will try and schedule you on another day she might be on campus or try a phone or communicate through email. The second aspect I like about this program is the circirulm. In the majority of my class I feel as though I am learning something new ever class. Also, the classes are challenging, but not so far advance that I feel as though I am drowning in a sea of work that I will never get done. Last, but not least the use of technology for class and how to incorporate it in your own classroom. Most of our classes use an online program called Moddle. This is a place to place coursework online for the students to always have access to, create classroom discussions, and upload assignments for private (teacher only view) and public (teacher and classmates view). Along with this, we also learn about various types of technology elementary and high school's are using to guide and teach students. Most of our classes require us to develop a lesson using technology as a main source. Now, for the cons of this program. These three cons are what I believe to be the weak points of the program; cost of program and financial aid availability. In recent years, the cost of obtaining higher education has sky rocketed and this school - this program, is no exception. The cost of attendance a semester is $20,500. This does not include if you need to learn a second language or obtain hours to go with the part of a second language you know so it counts. If you need any classes in second language you will be paying for part time undergraduate titution and that is an additional couple thousand dollars a semester. As you can see higher education, specifically at this accredited University does not come cheap. Which leads me into the other con, lack of graduate financial aid. It seems in the world, and in general, there is not much help for those wanting to obtain a Master's Degree. However, I would have thought University's would have some applications to help their students continue their education, but this is not so. They have any programs to help undergraduates, but graduates are left to fend for themselves. Overall, I believe this University has a great program and is one of the best out their in terms of quality, but could use some revamping on the cost and financial support offered to graduate students."

"This program was pretty good. I went to the satellite location so I really can't speak about the campus. It was quite expensive."

"The small class sizes, supportive peers and professors, and strong field internships are the highlights of Adelphi. As to cons, there is no "campus life" as we are a satellite campus, some of the professors are weak and I do not feel the students are heard on this point -- the same professors come back even with poor reviews, and the cost of tuition is very high for a career that notoriously pays low."

"The School of Social Work faculty are committed to helping their students' succeed. They are always there to provide guidance when necessary. One negative of the program is that the First year courses are mixed - meaning there are both undergraduate and graduate students in the classes."

"Adelphi University has a beautiful, small campus that is easy to get around and feels very safe, even walking around at night. It is very close to the train station for easy commute, and walking distance to a few small shops and restaurants. My professors were very friendly and I never had trouble getting their advice or extra help during office hours. The downsides to Adelphi are the price and the social life. Adelphi is very expensive and does not offer ample scholarship or funding. You will acquire substantial debt here, both from the university costs and the living costs. Social life wise- this is a commuter college. Only the younger undergrads live on campus, so there aren't many ways to make friends unless you really go out of your way for it. People commute from all over Long Island, so it's harder to see your friends outside of class. Many grad students are busy and further away (to find cheaper living costs) and don't show a great deal of interest in campus events or socializing. This is a great university if you have money and will work for (or don't need) an active social life."

"Overall the school psychology program is great. Faculty is very accessible, they help you with finding fieldwork placements, and they are truly knowledgeable regarding the school psychology field. Also, since the program lasts three years, during the second and third year you are already placed in schools and receiving real life experience which is necessary once you graduate. I am very pleased with my decision and I would choose it again if I had to."

"Adelphi is a fairly small school which gives students an opportunity to not only make long lasting connections with peers an fellow classmates but also receive attentive one on one help from professors. Adelphi offers many amazing opportunities for all students and is dedicated to making sure their students have a wonderful experience and are well equipped for the work force upon graduation."

I look forward to attending in the Fall of 2014."

"Adelphi University has an amazing social work department. The professors and other faculty are so involved in helping their students see thier full potential and seeing where they fit in in the field of social work. They offer multiple opportunities to be trained in different area for example the have offered in the past mental health trainings, child abuse trainings, and domestic violence training that I could contest to. The only difficulty I have faced was financial aid. As you may know the school is very expensive and I had a hard time getting them to help."

"The Master's in Social Work program at Adelphi University provides a lot of flexibility. There are full time and part time options for completing your degree. The staff members/ advisors are very supportive and encouraging. When it comes to field placements, they do ultimately choose your internship. However, they definitely take your needs into consideration. The only con to this graduate program is if students do not want to be stuck with loans this might not be the graduate school for you. Since this is a private school it is more on the expensive side compared to CUNY colleges. However, Adelphi is considered to be affordable compared to other private universities."

"Adelphi University is located in a quaint town in Long Island, NY. I find it beautiful and there are so many activities to keep undergrad and graduate students busy year round. The campus participates in lobby day, where students travel to Albany, NY to speak with Legislators about issues going on in the community. HUGE for social workers. Not many schools are there that day, its an amazing feeling to speak with someone and see real change."

"I have some amazing instructors however since my background is in education and I have experience as an educator advisory did not take that into account. I made a couple of friends and got to take classes at the Garden City campus, which is nice."

"Adelphi is a good program to receiver your MSW at. The cost of tuition is a little high, but the school is well known on Long Island and has a good reputation. I was able to practice in two placements during school, which were vital and helpful to my further studies in the MSW program. Professors were available and willing to help. Did not spend enough time on-campus to rate campus life because I was a commuter student."

"I think that my graduate program has many pros. I am taking four foundation year classes and I also have an internship 3 times a week at a mental health agency. I believe that this program will prepare me for a career in the field of social work. I am currently taking classes on oppression in society, social welfare, clinical practice, and human behavior. The semester started two weeks ago and I cannot think of anything that I am dissatisfied with. The only con is that there is hardly any parking on campus."
