"I have had a good INDEPENDENT experience. What I mean by that is. Student advisers aren't genuine, so understand you are on your own. The material is good I have learned a lot and although I have not finished yet, I do have employers willing to work with me until I graduate. The courses are useful and gratefully there are many resources to help you succeed. It is true they are only helpful in the beginning. Some of the professors don't answer emails and will not give you feedback so you are pretty much self-teaching. But that has nothing to do with the school itself. The program is for self-starters and people who are self-driven. Just don't take anything personal, don't expect much from an "adviser" and some of the professors. Some of the teachers are very attentive and care about your development. Just stick to it.Read Less"

"I have been in school since 2004 on and off. I have experienced a lot of classroom environments and different schools both brick and mortar and online. AIU is probably my favorite given how many tools they give you to learn and collaborate. The professors actually care. An here's a headline many under advertise: NO TESTS/MIDTERMS/FINALS! You heard that right. No filling in bubbles or googling test answers. They have what's called Intellipath which is like a lab. You are given access day one of class. Nothing is due until the last day of class, however, it helps to keep up with the materials. Intellipath can be done multiple ways, but they allow you to improve your score to 100%. You can suck at certain sections, but work through them to improve your score. Even better, if you know the knowledge area, you get credit for knowing it so it eliminates old lessons you already know. The grading system is geared towards participation and discussion. LOTS of group projects will be assigned and you will pull your hair out because despite being IT students, many don't even bother to check their student email or care to participate until week 4 (the week it's due). However, unlike most schools, AIU does offer plenty of tools for collaborative work to occur. I can say their portal is actually designed by user interface experts that got real input from users, and they are constantly improving. My only gripe with the school is financial aid. They are horrible at explaining things. Be persistent and you will find the answers you need. Most complaints I read on here are from people who might not have opened their eyes and explored outside of their comfort zone (or haven't scrolled down?). Live chats often provide assignment clarification. Also, a teacher is more willing to work with you if you keep an open line of communication. Attending an online program is a lot of work. It requires effective time management skills and work ethic. If you aced other schools by filling in bubbles, I'll recommend you search elsewhere. If you were like me and are intimidated by brick and mortar cs classes I highly recommend you give this schools a shot.Read Less"

"I would like to start out by saying that this school start out like they care. My students Advisor was the rudest most arrogant person Ive ever dealt with concerning school. I asked for someone to call me back because I would to talk to someone in regards to him being rude to me. I have still not received a call back. Mind you they called a million times when it was time to start."

"Worst school (online)I've ever attended they do not work with their students if you have a family emergency or family death might as well say goodbye they will NOT work with you at all they will tell you to apply fit an appeal but after talking to several other students that attended they always deny the appeal letter. Oh and once they deny you that is permanent there is no getting back in don't waste your time on this school I've also heard from former students that they have not been able to find jobs.Read Less"

"I have received my Associate Degree in 2015 and will be finishing my Bachelor 10/2018. For me this school was the best choice. I tried the brick and mortar school they did not work well for me. I have been pleased with my program, I have received the assistance I need and I am able to focus on classwork."

"I have been going to AIU since 2015, I came in with a 3.8 GPA and left with a 1.7 GPA. Once the professors found out I was a veteran I felt I was graded differently. My math professor told me that I went into the military because I went to a public school and I lack the education to go to college. Now that I left AIU stuck me with a 2k bill and will not release my transcripts. If you are a veteran stay away from AIU."

"I have been off and on with this University due to travel constraints for work and that of starting a family. I was able to stop classes and restart up a couple years later when things calmed down with little to no hassle. The Staff across the board has been terrific and helpful in all things even when i decided to change my major. They provided a detailed process and made it very painless. Overall the classes can be very fast passed but the level of information you receive is very well organized and presented compared to other Universities. All of the accreditation are good and i am satisfied with what i am paying for.Read Less"

"I haven't graduated yet, but I feel as if though this is still not quite the school I have any business attending, I only did this to get experience for a job and right now my job hunt sucks and it did last year and it probably will this year. Why did I even bother dealing with this school; because nothing is ever good enough for them. I print out a 4506-T "Non-filing," form and shortly after my student page is shut down  - nothing there, I can't log in and I can't do anything as it pertains to my classes, they sighted me because I didn't have anything to offer to them, of course I know that in 2018, it will be my last year attending online school, on campus is much better, just take classmates, students and professors talking down to you; trust me it's way better than getting no responses from a goofy school like AIU! "For the past 3 years that I have been with American Intercontinental University, I have found their online learning environment to be very supportive with dedicated staff from admissions, student advising, accounts, financial aid, technical support, library, lectures who demonstrate high degree of respect and ethics as they ensure that students have excellent learning experience. Courses offer theoretical and practical real-life experience in the contemporary business/ market world. Students suggestions/inputs are taken regularly and feedback provided promptly and implementation done for improvement. I highly recommend this institution to those who have the desire to start or further their learning. There is a lot of work to be done by students and one must be ready to be disciplined in meeting the deadlines and/or seek help where required. "I transferred into AIU from another graduate program and I had 32 graduate units to transfer with yet AIU took none of them so I was forced to complete their program without any transferred units. AIU doesn't help it'd graduates with employment and they are difficult when requesting your transcripts."

"I attended AIU back in 1999-2000 when it first opened its doors in Broward County, Florida. It was a brand new school that was hyped on the local radio stations as offering a chance for a very lucrative career in Information Technology. Being an older student (39), I wanted to change my career and enter the much more dynamic and exciting world of IT. So, I entered the Master's Degree program and from the very start I found a majority of the staff to be unprepared as well as inexperienced in the "real world" which was entirely contradictory to the information given to the media as well as to the potential students. In fact, at that time the school expanded into South Florida from Canada and brought it's new alumni to Florida to teach the classes. I met with the school President at the time many times which offered no satisfactory resolution. So, I did my own networking with other students who were already in the IT field in order to get some benefit from this program. I ended up with over $40,000 in student debt and a degree that really didn't benefit me. It took me 6 years to obtain a job in the IT field that payed me enough money that I could even begin to think about starting to repay my student loans. Only by taking the initiative myself through the years, I was finally able to get more training and experience so that I now finally make close to what I am worth. However, I am now struggling with over $100,000 in student debt that will never be repaid. I was very disappointed with my education at AIU, and they are now involved in a class action suit for this reason, among others. If they had been more honest from the start, i would have been more prepared to examine the value of my education compared to the actual cost. For the amount of money I spent at AIU for 18 months, I could have attended an actual college like UNF and gotten a degree that actually means something in the job market. Perhaps AIU has changed over the years, but I would recommend anyone trying to get into the IT field to go to a REAL college where the degree is actually worth the cost of the education.Read Less"

"This school is a joke. I was having issues and they just kept begging me to stay even though it wasn't possible to finish my classes with my day to day schedule. I was told my tuition was being covered by my grants, only to find out i missed too many days with work and with my daughter being on life support (NO THEY DO NOT CARE NOR DO THEY HAVE A WAIVER FOR THESE ISSUES). After they withdrew me i was still charged for classes I never even started after specifically being told i wouldnt be charged. They are just in it for the money and care about absolutely no one.Read Less"
