I hate them so much. I know that is not nice to say but for a college program to steal from a working mother and ruin her credit for years and years to come is just too much. I did myself a huge disservice by going to this online school. Stafford loans just kept getting added onto my account somehow. I was only their one year from 2004 to 2005 and due to all of the loans that were put on by the Va, and or Stafford my credit has been ruined. and to this day I still don't have the transcripts to prove the work I did do. 17 credits worth. I was on the accelerated program. It sounded good to do at the time, and for a little while it was great, my teachers were nice and I was pretty much able to follow along, but then came the art class and that just was not something that you should do online, I know now that I need to be in front of a teacher with a dry erase board. Online was not the way for me nor was the amount of money this cost me. I tried several times to tell them to cancel the class and to drop out due to unforseen circumstances and I don't think they ever did so I got charged for classes i never took. I'm very disappointed and still trying to work my way out of the mess this caused me.
Honestly, I have no problem with the school. The only problem I have is that it's $$$$. Other than, that it is where I earned both of my degrees. I also would recommend this school to others (if there are willing to pay). However, the style of teaching worked fine for me. And I did learn a lot during both of my degree programs. May I add, the teachers are not all passive as previously stated. Actually, some of the teachers are no joke. They are really passionate about what they are teaching. It's just the cost I disagree with!
Lied to from day 1. I was pressured to attend by someone that kept calling me. She was practically trying to "sell" the school. She lied to me and told me I would be able to get a CPA degree from there which was a total lie in 2007. Was told my cost would be $25k (for just associates) ended up being $32k????? I didn't find out that I couldn't sit for CPA exams after graduating that school (bc they didn't offer bachelor and masters in accounting in 2007) after I received my associates degree. When I told them who had promised me this she no longer worked there...nice!!! So I transferred and most of my credits wouldn't even transfer so I had to start all over again which I refused to do! Thanks for nothing aiu!
AIU is a terrible school. Their material is outdated!! One class said this: Facebook now has 500 million users! They also used outdated software! They also could NEVER tell me how much my reimbursement checks would be so I could never plan paying my bills! One time they said I would receive $500 and they ended giving me just $82! I nearly lost my apartment because of them! I did not end up graduating from this outdated "university" because they kept making my finances impossible and they never updated their learning materials. I transferred to a much better school! I do NOT recommend this school to anyone. They do not work with most major lenders! Stay away from this place! That's my humble opinion!
Too many students past or present are more concerned with receiving their stipend a/k/a refund check and don't concern themselves with getting a valuable education, which is why there are so many complaints made against this university. I have personally seen people quit this university after receiving their stipend then have the gall to come write out a complaint about having to repay their student loans or about the instructors and their teaching methods, or just complain. Ridiculous!!! How idiotic is this? You get out of it what you put into it. Working hard, applying yourself, and using time management wisely will further your success at this university. This is so sad that I cannot go any further but to say that I started AIU in 2015 and have incurred a 3.8 as a result of my dedication and hard work, knowing what the end result will be. To that end, my goal is in attaining my degree and I am on the path of doing it if I stay focused, use time management wisely, and follow instructions.
I am currently taking classes at AIU. I am surprised at all the bad reviews. I am about to finish up two classes. Making a total of three classes I have taken. I love it so far! I am impressed with how much I am learning. Although challenging, it is not too overwhelming for me. My instructors have all been great and helpful! There are so many options I didn't think I would have online. I did have some issues with financial aid but I think that was mostly my confusion. You have to put in to it what you want out of it. If you don't apply yourself or read the material they give you, then you won't take anything from it. I have a hard time learning in a classroom setting. I much rather go the independent route and learn on my own time. It isn't for everyone, but if you work hard and manage your time you will succeed.
This was a horrible college. I did not learn anything . We rarely stayed in class the full time and teachers were always absent. If you want a quality education this is not the school. The staff has a very poor attitude and the instructors are not at all enthused to be there.
I was dismissed from the online MBA program due to a medical incident, which did effect my academic performance. I was on academic probation and received a final grade of a B-.Because it was not a B, I was dismissed. I was placed on academic probation because I was withdrawn from the program 6 years earlier for personal reasons. After my dismissal I appealed the dismissal based on the medical emergency which effected my final grade. My appeal was denied, and was permanently dismissed. For two years, there was a legal dispute between me and AIU. Repeatedly they offered me reinstatement, for which I repeatedly refused. I utilized every legal means, including a federal lawsuit, which was dismissed without prejudice, and ordered to arbitration, which was listed in the enrollment agreement. The dispute went to arbitration and the ruling was in my favor, and AIU lost. The "award" was they ordered AIU to allow me to resubmit the assignment for which I received a failing grade due to the medical emergency. I insisted that I refused to resubmit the assignments and reinstatement. The arbitrator ignored my position and gave me 30 days in case I wanted to change my mind. I did not comply with the 30 day ruling and did not resubmit the assignments. I won the arbitration. I didn't receive any money, but at least I won. To those of you considering to enroll in AIU online, please consider this. In your enrollment agreement, there is an Arbitration Agreement Clause, in which you waive your right to sue. And if you do go to arbitration, you will not receive a monetary award. So think about it before you sign it, so you won't ave to go through what I did.
I began my studies at AIU online in November of 2003. I earned my Bachelor's Degree is Business Administration - graduating Magna Cum Laude. I completed my first MBA in Human Resource Management and my 2nd MBA in Strategy. When I graduated with my 2nd MBA - my salary was right under $60,000 in 2006. My salary is now right under $100,000.00 with more room to grow and improve. I loved AIU and the entire program. My Virtual Professors were very encouraging and my advisors were on top of me to make sure that I was successful.
You get out of it - what you put into it. Some people will go to school and expect to be given a degree (not earned) the school is there to learn - yoiu need to put in the time and effort - I see other reviews and I dont get it - I attended AIU from the AA program all the way to Masters and sure there are some bumps on the road but nothing big, Most teachers care - present the material and answer your questions - you have to collaborate - Bottom Line do I earn more ? YES with a Masters Degree I would earn alot less than I do today. Program Manager at HP 12 years
