"The BMS program at Barry University is designed to help students interested in applying to professional programs in the health field like medical and dental school. The curriculum mimics that of first year dental/med school which helps students get a glimpse of what their workload and schedule will be like in the future. The faculty are extremely helpful and experienced with the material they are teaching. This program is excellent for someone who had problems completing/obtaining the desired grades needed in their undergraduate program but still wants to get into professional school."

"The major pro is that I know if I succeed in this program I can get into a medical school, which is what I desire. The con of this program is that sometimes it does not feel like I am part of a university but a building that looks like an office building. The cost of living near the school is high as well."

"The Pros are that the program advances you for acceptance into future professional schools, gives you a preview to Medical and Dental school classes, and the staff was very educated. The Cons are that the program is expensive, there is not a library easily accessible in the program's building, and the lab equiment is not relatable with Medical/Dental school."

"Barry's Biomedical Sciences masters program is difficult but doable. The teachers are highly qualified and want their students to not only exceed but to also excel. The only down side is the location. There is no on-campus housing at the location of the program and the surrounding area is not the safest."

"I had a great experience at Barry. It served its purpose and I had 10 interviews for dental school and 3 acceptances."

"My experience thus far in the biomedical science program at Barry University is by far one of the most rewarding experiences I have had during my educational journey. Upon my arrival to orientation my flight was late coming in and I missed orientation. I was concerned that I would not be able to start the program due to me running late. But when I got to campus the staff members there were extremely nice and helpful in getting me settled in and caught up on what I missed during orientation. The staff personally took me over to meet my advisor and get my schedule set up for the upcoming semester. Once I saw the financial load of my courses I explained to my advisor on the spot that I needed to drop one of my classes to make sure I could afford to pay for school with my financial aid... my advisor was VERY understanding and restructured my schedule right there on the spot that was conducive to my finances in allowing me to still pay for school and be able to live and support myself off my financial aid. The courses offered for the program prepare you for dental and medical school (depending no your academic track). The program is there to help you get to the next phase of your education which for most students is dental school or medical school. The course are not easy but they are not hard either as long as you apply yourself. There are a lot of resources available in order to assist you in being successful in the program. The professors are accessible at your disposal outside of their office hours. They are good at responding back to emails, answering phone call, etc. The cons to the program are not being able to have a full gross anatomy course due to the lack of cadavers available for the program. But there is a head neck anatomy portion to the course which is great for dental bound students. The location of the program is not on the main campus so you don't have access to go the library at the satellite campus; so most students have to leave the satellite campus and go elsewhere to study if you don't want to study in the study rooms they provide. There is no computer lab on the satellite campus so we are not able to print unless we go to the main campus (hopefully that will change soon). The main campus is about 20 minutes away so most students go over to NOVA library to study which isn't too far. But overall the study rooms they provide do suffice and are quiet areas to study just in case you are not able to go to NOVA or the main campus. Overall I am very happy with the program and look forward to an awesome future in dental school."

"It's a relatively small program, which makes it easy to get in touch with the professors, who have been very helpful so far. They seem to put a good amount of emphasis on our future prospects (taking standardized tests, applying, interviewing, etc.), something I didn't experience much in undergrad. The area is much nicer than the Barry main campus, although it is a little more expensive to live in because of that."

"The biomedical sciences program at Barry University is quite expensive since it is a private school. The classes offered are also in one building which is not very large. Besides those cons, I feel the professors of the BMS program truly care about your success. Unlike my undergrad experience at a university of 50,000 people, the class sizes are smaller and allow for more interaction. The program is geared towards preparing students for professional schools and offers the help necessary to do well on the MCAT and DAT. It also offers volunteering and networking opportunities. The program is full of diverse people from undergraduate schools all over the country and most are very friendly. The program is intense but I feel it prepares you for a fast paced curriculum like that of a professional school."

"Everyone from professors to fellow students are really helpful to one another and truly want each other to succeed. Personally, I appreciate that more than constant competition and unhappiness."

"My graduate program has many pros. The professors are excellent in conveying the learning objectives of the class and the classroom environment is comfortable. The only con I could think of is the environment where my campus is located."

"The graduate program is isolated from the main campus so there is a small school feel. The program is only one building. The program and the education you will receive is great! The teachers really want you to succeed and will help you any way they can."
