"I am glad I joined this program. One of the few PhD programs in Media & Comm, at least in the Mid-West, that give equal importance to both humanistic and social scientific methods and is open to mixed methods as well. Very supportive faculty and peers"

"Pros: The graduate program provides assistantships to offset tuition and living in Bowling Green is very, very cheap. The international student crowd provides a fair deal of diversity, and this crowd never fails to try new things and meet new people. The town is safe to walk around alone at night. Cons: Bowling Green is small, flat, and surrounded by agriculture. The nearest city is Toledo, about 30 minutes drive away. And most importantly, there are still some big names involved with the I/O psychology program, but the neuro-cognitive program is not what it used to be. Most of the Jedi faculty have moved on to other institutions or no longer conduct research or take graduate students. This program is in the process of building itself back up after a mass exodus of talent. Furthermore, this is a research institution. Thus, professors will prioritize their personal research over building and implementing appropriate class curriculum. Last, know that if coming into the program without a Masters, it will take much longer than 4 years to complete a Ph.D. Four years is a departmental average across all of psychology - I/O, developmental, neural and cognitive, and clinical. Neuroscience research is both time and labor intensive, which means it may take several years to complete one research project (at least two -one for a Master's thesis and one for a dissertation are required, plus additional coursework and a preliminary exam). However, tuition assistance is not guaranteed after 4 years."

"The campus was great for the rural area. Friendly students and professors. The classes were not watered down at all. A nice blend of a University and a College."

"It's a good school but not the best of the best. It is a great school for producing teachers."

"The faculty at the BGSU CDIS program were extremely kind, friendly, and all had open door policies (which were open not only for school related issues but also life ones). The staff were more family than just professors, while they were still revered and respected there was an air of openness that allowed you to interact and communicate with them on a more intimate level. Most of the staff is passionate about what they do but they are also laid back and flexible and more than willing to do whatever it takes to help you down your path."

"I was a transfer student, so I can't speak about the first year experience, but I found all the staff in that process to be very helpful. I think BG is a good size for a school -- it has a lot of things to do, the town is smaller but not stiflingly so, but it's not so big that it's easy to feel lost. I think it's definitely what you make out of it -- if you're involved in your coursework, if you're looking to go above the "C's get degrees" mentality that a number of people here have, you can do really well for yourself and make great connections. The worst thing about this campus is that it's kind of ugly, but they're really trying to update it."

"The VCT department is wonderful. The instructors were genuinely helpful and always went above and beyond. Professors had a lot of industry experience which added a lot to their lectures. Additionally, labs gave me a chance to get hands on experience with design and editing software. The degree also required students to complete three co-ops(internships), which gave a great chance to get hands on experience in the industry. At all of my co-ops, employers were very impressed with the knowledge I had gained in my classes; especially compared to past interns. I also went straight into a job after graduation thanks to a professor that recommended me for the position."

"The biggest pro about the Kinesiology program are the professors. They are always willing to help and want their students to succeed. The classes are interesting, and most of them are relevant to what we want to study. The course work reflects your thesis research. A con of the program is that it is not as research based as I would like."

"I feel that there are many pros to this program. The cirriculum is great and really prepares you for the professional world. The tuition is very reasonable for the exceptional learning experience that you gain. It is very diverse and we as student's learn fro meach other. The only con would be my monthly commute to the campus but that was my decision in choosing this institution."

"This graduate program (chemistry) is terrible! Faculty are lazy and irresponsible. The quality of classes are low. Faculty and staff do everything slower than necessary. Also the atmosphere in this program is creepy. Faculty are not friendly at all, and students stab each other in the back. Now this program is getting smaller and smaller, because we don't enjoy it and nearly half of us students have transferred to better universities(this is a fact that faculty dare not tell you). Don't apply for this program, since it's a waste of your time!"

"I studied neural and cognitive sciences in Psychology. It was an excellent opportunity. Very low cost of living in the area, a quiet college town. Great place to study. Curriculum was excellent, a lot of flexibility in classes. I was able to take classes outside of my department for interdisciplinary purposes. Very supportive and pleasant faculty, they really make the program great. Lots of funding for grad students. The stipend is livable (although tight) and guaranteed funding for at least 4 years. After 4 years they do their best to help you by letting you teach courses ect.. Travel support for conferences was okay, but it could have been better."

"-cannot comment on MBA program yet -MMUS program is quality, though it can be insular. -If in MUS program, make sure to make an effort to network in "other" fields in MUS- it does pay off."

"BGSU has a fantastic reading education program, which many teachers in Ohio need to satisfy the third grade guarantee requirements. Students have real in-class preparation with a Title I teacher and literacy coach. Students are also offered tuition scholarships for the entirety!"
