"Started at Cal Poly Pomona in 2020 during the height of the the covid lockdown. Eventually classes transitioned to in-person, but unfortunately Cal Poly lost many faculty so classes were unorganized and difficult to get as an engineering student. I would not recommend the engineering program at Pomona, i would tell others to go to another college where they know they have engineering projects and helpful faculty programs."

"I had a very positive experience at Cal Poly Pomona and feel that my education had a meaningful impact on my career. The “learn by doing” approach really stood out to me, as it allowed me to gain practical, hands-on experience rather than just focusing on theory. This made me feel more confident and prepared when transitioning into the workforce. The professors I encountered were knowledgeable and supportive, and many had real-world experience in their fields, which made the material more engaging and relevant. I also appreciated the diversity of the student body and the overall campus environment, which felt welcoming and inclusive. One of the biggest strengths of Cal Poly Pomona is how well it prepares students for real-life careers. I felt that I developed both technical knowledge and critical thinking skills that I continue to use in my professional life. Overall, I am very satisfied with my experience and would recommend the school to others looking for a practical and career-focused education."

"Overall, Cal Poly Pomona was a pretty good school. I had lots of good professors, and the cost was not too bad. The camus life is pretty scarce, but if you want to meet others and make friends it is possible. As far as academics, it purely depends on your major. My major was Kinesiology which has a pretty good department in my opinion."

"It was a great school that I would recommended to everyone as they have a motto of learn by doing so we got to do a lot of hands on experience. It did suck that during my time COVID was happening so I didn't get to fully experience college but was a great time regardless."

"Loved this campus! As a transfer student from Mt. SAC, I was looking for an affordable school where I could continue on the road to higher education. The staff was great, and the professors were top-notch academics. I felt safe on campus and they accommodated every one of my needs. If I were to go back to school, I would for sure consider this campus again!"

"I transferred to Cal Poly Pomona from a community college nearby called Mt. San Antonio College. I enjoyed my time in both, but during my early 20’s, I felt as if I enjoyed my time more in community college. It was only after the fact, now in my early 30’s, that I realize the reason. During community college, I was exploring different majors and the future was unknown, and in Cal Poly Pomona, I was locked in a major. I overlooked the tremendous knowledge I learned during my time in Cal Poly Pomona that allowed me to excel in my professional career. All in all, I would highly recommend any student to attend Cal Poly Pomona and to always be aware that the content that they’re learning, although bland, is invaluable."

"First and foremost, if there is anything you should know about Cal Poly Pomona, it is the fact that it is definitely a commuter school or at least was when I attended from 2017-2022. A high percentage of people just show up for class and go home. If I had known this about the school, I probably would not have went here. As much as it is a commuter school however, there are still lot of ways to make friends on campus. I got a job at the pool as a lifeguard and also joined Greek Life because I wasn't really making friends in classes. You definitely have to go out of your way to make friends. Overall, 3 star experience."

"Cal Poly Pomona has a very strong Engineering school and I highly recommend it. Fun fact, one out of every eleven Engineers from California, graduated from Cal Poly Pomona. CPP is a good school for the following reasons:RankingsIt is a top 3 regionally ranked school in Engineering and very well-respected with other institution and employers. 2- It is affordable because Cal Poly Pomona is under the CSU System. 3- The school is diverse so not only will one get a good education, they have the ability to learn about another culture. 4-Cal Poly Pomona is very welcoming to foreign, international students. Graduating from Cal Poly is not easy, the Engineering program has an 80% dropout rate. If you graduated with a degree in Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona, then you accomplished something and should have no problems getting hired. Is it MIT, no but for the price you are paying and the quality of education you are receiving, CPP is well worth it. I cannot comment about the other programs because I was a Mechanical Engineering major but they also have one of the best Architecture programs and a good Business School. If you go to Cal Poly Pomona, you will not regret it. The dorm facilities are about average like most schools but there is also a good Greek life as well and CPP has nice facilities for students."

"While I think Cal Poly as a whole is fantastic, the Music program was embarrassing. While I went the "Music Industry Studies" route, the program as a whole was terrible. There was no audition to be admitted. There were kids graduating who couldn't read a line of music, and the standards for basic music classes were so low. So low. Lots of kids wanted to be DJs, make electronic music, or just wanted to have fun. The program leaves you without any real competency for any kind of career. Luckily I started down another career path halfway through my degree. If you're looking for a serious music program, go somewhere else."

"As someone who was uncertain of her future career path, Cal Poly Pomona was an excellent school to quite literally get my hands dirty. Concepts are generally explained, examined, and then put into practice, so if you want real life situations where you'll be learning your future occupation head on, then Cal Poly Pomona is an excellent choice. I will mention that some of the facilities are outdated and the school is making vast improvements year over year, but is struggling to keep up with the larger and larger population. One other thing to consider: get good walking shoes and at least an hour head start to any class that you can. Parking has always been difficult and always will be difficult in a campus of that size. Find the lot you like the best, and try to stick to it as much as you can!"

"The Psychology undergraduate program has an immensely rigorous plan of study. The course flow has very much needed content in regards to fundamental concepts, foundations in practice, and specializations in various areas of the field. Such content include Social Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Industrial Organization, and many theories classes. Furthermore, the educators are very well versed in their teachings and many are research oriented. This leads to experts in academia who have their doctorates with the capacity and capabilities to teach students how to become future leaders either in industry or academia."

"Cal Poly Pomona is a solid choice for their Business program. I decided to pursue the Technology & Operations Management emphasis and all the faculty and curriculum were great. It was actually pleasantly surprising how much I learned was instantly translatable to the work environment. Being a public university, the cost was not outrageous either. In terms of social life and environment, the school has made strides to improve with a new recreation center and busines buildings."

"I had the best time in this college. There are many professors who genuinely care for your success. I also made many friends who became life long friends. The people in this college are really friendly and they always host small events to keep the students entertained. They also have a starbucks in the library which is an ideal place to study and work on projects."

"I graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Psychology. As a research based school, all of the professors there are doctors that are essentially training students to succeed in Phd programs. Although I did not stay the course within Psychology, I am currently in a Master's of Social Work program at a very respectable university. Though graduating with my Bachelor's degree in 2008, I remember all the important aspects those professors wanted me understand. I can proudly say that it is with their guidance that I am academically succeeding in my graduate studies with a 4.0 and have been accepted in to the Phi Alpha Honors Society for recognition in academic excellence. As psychology is a science and should be taken as such, the program from this university not only emphasizes the importance of learning many different Psychological theories but also stressing the importance of research methods. Thus, there are courses that strictly teach behavioral statistics and preparation courses that utilize these statistical methods in order to do a mock research design and study. Overall, the Psychology department of Cal Poly Pomona has designed their Bachelor's program similarly to how a graduate program may be held. By mimicking higher levels of advanced education, this university is setting their students up for success. I would also agree that there are some classes that not everyone may enjoy and would need to simply get through them in order to move on. However, once those kinds of courses are completed, the enjoyment of actual learning takes place as well as having professors that actually enjoy teaching the material. Specialized areas of Psychology found in upper division courses such as Abnormal Behavior, Organizational Psychology, Health Psychology, and others are taught by professors excited about teaching these concepts to students. Moreover, I personally had a very profound sense of accomplishment after having graduated. All of the countless hours and late nights studying finally paid off. Despite whatever my grade point average came out to be, I felt very proud of every minute I had at Cal Poly Pomona."

"The sociology program at Cal Poly is absolutely wonderful. I had a criminology sub plan and the instructors there really know their field. Even the adjuncts seem to be happy to be teaching what they teach. The sociology department is full of wonderful people who really know their field and want everyone to succeed."

"The MPA program at Cal Poly Pomona provided me the resources and knowledge to be a successful and effective public administrator. The different courses required (and electives offered) were beneficial to me in pursuing not only this degree, but in thinking of the different career possibilities in the public sector. The instructors in the program were knowledgeable in this field and were great networking resources for me as public administrators."

"Cal Poly Pomona shaped my life more than just academically, though I was excited to attend for the zoology emphasis (a unique and rare offering nowadays), the like-minded individuals I met while in attendance became the greatest of friends. The large, dispersed campus is always a joy to walk through, though inconvenient if you only have 15 minutes between classes. This institution gave me the best years of my life."

"Cal Poly Pomona is not only a diverse university, but the rigor of the curriculum and the beauty of the campus make for the ideal college experience. Courses are centered around the school's mantra "learn by doing." Thus, top notch professors attempt to interweave both theory and application throughout all disciplines. Among other things, the campus restaurants provide enough variety so that students won't become tired of the food. Great school!"
